In an effort to keep kids learning and engaged during their stay at home, Starwars.Com offers a weekly article called, Teaching With Star Wars, which presents valuable life lessons and teachable moments in a fun way through the stories and characters of Star Wars.

This week's article titled, 'Learning From Failure in Star Wars: The Last Jedi', teaches about failure and how to overcome fear through Luke's failure and self-isolation in The Last Jedi. Luke lost Ben Solo to the dark side. Instead of rising up and facing his fear, as he once did, Luke lets fear consume him and flee in hiding to the planet Ahch-To. It takes only the wisest being in the galaxy to push him out of hiding, to face fear and help his friends and family.

When I came across Teaching With Star Wars, I thought what a fantastic little segment this is for parents and teachers alike to engage in discussions with their children about important life lessons, that may be difficult as an adult to otherwise talk about with a child. Using Star Wars as the catalyst, well you can't go wrong. This week is the third week of the Teaching with Star Wars series. The other two teach how to deal with frustration and staying on course with Rey, and, dealing with disagreement with Ahsoka Tano. So, if you are a parent, guardian or teacher who happens to be a Star Wars fan (which means your kids are most likely fans as well), and you are looking for more ways to engage your children, then be sure to check out this great article here.

Remember kids, we all make mistakes because we are all human but it's how we learn from them that matters. Fear is the path to the dark side. Stand up to fear, face your challenges head on, and you will go far in life.
