Wowzer! Really not long until #StarWarsEpisodeVII #TheForceAwakens teaser is 'unleashed'. Should be official images in day or so.

 

I'm thinking we'll see it on December 15th or 16th (if they really want to attach it to the Hobbit) at the very earliest. Otherwise, we'll probably get something in February next year to whet our appetites for a proper teaser trailer on May 4th. After that, we'll most likely get a full 2 minute trailer sometime in September with a few variations leading up to December 2015.

I wish it would come out tomorrow or at least this month, but don't the rumors say Williams hasn't even recorded anything yet? I thought it was scheduled for later this month. Unless the teaser uses old themes, and depending on whether or not the studio wants the film pinned to a major picture, with the Hobbit being the most obvious choice (same demographic), we probably won't see it this month or with Mockingjay like some people are saying.

 

That's a slightly pessimistic view, I think we will get a trailer on May 4th. Teasers can be basically anything really, they could definitely be coming soon. The teaser for the first star wars came as soon as production finished I believe, Obi-Wan's lightsaber was basically a rod in that teaser.

 

Oh God please let it he with the hobbit that would be the most epic day at the movies EVER!!!!!!

 

Not being pessimistic, just giving my honest speculation. I didn't mean to be a downer here, like I said, I hope we see it sooner, it just doesn't make sense to me they would send it out this month when they gave us the title a day ago. I have a sneaking suspicion they gave us the title without the teaser because it isn't ready yet...OR...it's basically done and they feel releasing with Hobbit puts it exactly a year away from the full premier. If we don't see it by December, then February seems like the next best month to me (Super Bowl 2015?).

Of course the teaser can be anything, but I think Lucasfilm and Disney want it to be special. Can it come this month? Certainly. Doesn't mean it will because it can and I feel it won't, just my educated guess. Also, May 4th was my date for a "teaser trailer" just like we saw for Age of Ultron recently. Quick shots, vague references to events in the movie, but not as revealing as a full trailer. I think what we'll see this month or next month is a short bit of footage, mostly vague dialogue, and part of a new theme or variation on an old one for 60 seconds or less. I don't think that is unreasonable to expect.

EDIT: I'll be happy to eat my words if it comes out within the next three weeks!

Wasn't it explained already that TFA "teaser" not a trailer, will start Xmas Day 2014?
John Williams(who's 82) is going slow and doing the film score/music in London rather than Los Angeles.
I read that JJ & George Lucas want to get everything right so 12/25 was picked instead of Thanksgiving.

 

We can expect a full retro-fun style teaser. I foresee a carbon copy of the first teaser from ESB. With the shades and Vader's helmet.

 

Doing the score in London rather than Los Angeles has nothing about going slow I'd say. I'm an amateur composer myself, and from what I know, London is a better place to record business wise, as they do not demand any back-end costs.

 

A release with the hobbit (12/17) wouldn't be much of a diffrence from that

 

Forgot about the hobbit coming out in December too. That is a day off from a year before the movie release.

JW may not be writing new material go with the first teaser, but he may still have to make an arrangement of the older themes to match with the footage.

Also, he has used the London Symphony Orchestra in the past and that could be the reason he is working on it in London.

Anyone happen to have the details of when the other teasers were released in relation to the title announcements and the movie release?

Edit: working on it in London could also have allowed him to get work done in front of JJ while filming was still going on.

Sorry, those movies do nothing for me. It's like 18 hours of the same thing. I remember going to midnight showings for each LOTR movie and falling asleep midway through each... Combo of being tired (I am almost always sleep deprived) and gargantuan running times.

P.S. Wasn't Peter Jackson on JJ's set recently? Hmm...

P.P.S. Genre stuff that takes itself too seriously seems to be doomed at the box office... Hopefully TFA has some humor to it... People like fun movies! Imagine that.
