What are your thoughts? I am assuming most of us have seen it multiple times.

In my case, I've seen it three times (going back today for a fourth). From my end, the film was EPICLY better the second time I saw it, and enjoyed it just as much the third time.

The biggest issue I had was that the pacing felt way too fast the first time I saw it. But as I commented in another forum, I felt this may have been because,

    a) I saw it in 3D the first time, and
    b) I sat on the 2nd row in the theater, which made me feel like I was going through epilepsy at times.

I saw it in 3D again the second time, but this time, I sat in the very back of the theater. WOW, did that ever make a difference! Everything was just more digestible. I also felt that, going into the film with certain expectations, I went into it with "boxes" that needed to be checked off. The second time, I just went into it to relax and enjoy the film. And my lord, is it enjoyable!

I would say that I could count the issues I have with the film on less than one hand. And most of these issues are only with individual scenes. (And the fact that Kasdan has no idea how to write romance, re: Han and Leia. Thankfully, Kirschner was around to save his ass for TESB.) I think the awakening of Rey is still something I'm not comfortable with. (If, for no other reason, than I think the Sequels are threatening to violate an important part of cannon that came straight from the mouth of Geroge Lucas himself- which is that Luke Skywalker is the most powerful Force user ever. Perhaps this is more fanboyism than anything, though, but I still think the words of Geroge Lucas need to be respected. JJ has said he would respect George's thoughts on cannon. I hope he keeps his word on this particular front.)

With that said, the issues just don't bother me that much.

The big criticism seems to be it is too derivative of ANH. I can understand this, but honestly, I don't really care. If you just relax and "let it in", it is still an unbelievably fun movie that gives us outstanding new characters and actors and a believable story.

With that said, Luke Skywalker better be a Force Titan among rats in the next one! What with Kylo Ren stopping and holding blaster bolts with not nearly as much experience as Luke. Oh, or Rey just having his massive awakening. And that is not to mention Snoke pissing himself so much out of fear of Luke (better established in the novelization, but still quite clear in the movie), to the point where they need a freaking giant star-sucking planet weapon to find and kill him! ;)

    Same for me!!

My biggest issue (in fact, my only *major* complaint) was pacing (after first viewing).
Oddly, the pacing seemed perfectly fine on subsequent viewings.
I've seen it 3 times so far, once in 3D.

I'll definitely be seeing it more once the new year starts.

Completely agree with you. I was so overwhelmed by the experience the first time I saw it, but upon rewatch I was able to focus on the story itself and take all the little things in. This helped me realize just how incredible the film is on its own merits. While it takes a lot from ANH, TFA still has a very different "feel" to it and is very clearly it's own story.

I highly suggest anyone who feels let down by the film to go revisit it. You're able to get over that jarring feeling you had upon first watch and look at it as a "film", and not just a part of the Star Wars Universe.

The more I see it the more bored of it I get...idk why...I prefer the original 6, and TFA feels like "Star Wars-Lite."

I'm going again tomorrow. The ONLY thing I'm dreading is the assault on Starkiller base. That's about it. I do agree though that the film feels superficial and more of an adventure film than the originals. I can't point my finger on why, but maybe once the trilogy is done, this one will have more context.

I watched it for the second time yesterday. My initial reaction after the first viewing was:
    * very enjoyable movie with too many fortunate coincidences and parallels to the OT, forgettable soundtrack and really poor pacing; 8.5/10

After my second viewing I changed it to:
    * incredible movie that's possibly my favourite in the entire saga; 10/10

I suppose the soundtrack stood out more since I had listened to it in its entirety a few times between viewings.
I probably missed some of the important dialogue explaining perceived fortunate coincidences due to the noisy (excited) audience the first time around.
I have absolutely no idea why I had such an issue with the pacing after my first viewing. It was the only thing that really bothered me. The second time around, it felt perfectly fine - and I still don't know why.

Iv'e seen it 4 times so far. The first two times I wen't out of town to see it making a vacation out of it. The first two times we're in 3D, stadium seating, first time adrenaline. The second two we're in original format at a small local theater and it was in this theater that I truly experienced the movie for what it is. The sound in the smaller theater was A-mazing. I agree with the several posts above that at first the pacing seemed a little rushed. But now the pacing is fine IMO.

As far as Luke being the most powerful jedi ever I feel it's time for that to truly be demonstrated and what better time to do it then right.......now. After what Snoke has done to him and his acadamy/students? Yea. Turning Ben, his nephew that I know he loves against him and putting him in between a rock and a hard place. I mean what was he supposed to do? Kill his sisters son like whatever? If anything his heart was broken and it translated onto the screen quite powerfully with that one brilliant expression on his face. Luke may be the most powerful force user ever, but no level of ability in the force can stop a jedi's heart from being broken. This IMO is a beautiful thing. It makes Luke Skywalker a real person and not some unrealistic individual. I am so ready for Luke to bounce back and whoop a##.

As for Kylo and the laser bolt. He was apparently trained by Snoke how to do this and he is after all a Skywalker; "the force is strong in my family".

As for Rey and her awakening. It seems the force being a living energy, called out to Rey. Luke's old saber (connected to the force) spoke to her and not her to it. It looks like there has been new aspects of the force that have been introduced to the audience and there will most likely be more. The force has been lying dormant within Rey until now.

    4 times for me.
enjoyed it each time, but got something new from each viewing.

i love the movie, and can't wait to see where the story goes.

my honest take, after 4 viewings?
Rey was an abandoned, unwanted child. who will rise up to become a new hero.
she was chosen by the force. i think and feel that this much is made clear in the movie.
(i mean, why all the effort to show that she is chosen by the force or that she is awakening if she's luke's daughter? huh?)

As the bloodline of Skywalker has reached its bitter end, with Kylo repeating the mistakes of the grandfather, someone is called upon to right the ship...
    that someone is Rey.

No, she is not Luke's daughter.
She is the daughter he never had.

She will inspire Luke. She will challenge Luke to give it one more go.
and as such, she will become known as the hero who saved the hero...
she was once a nameless orphan, but she will one day call herself Rey Skywalker.

i have an entire thread about this.
you've probably read it already. so i'll stop. LOL

Only twice for me so far. Loved it both times. 1st in 3d second in 2d. Finn detractors are missing how awesome he is. Definitely the beginnings of a Finn Rey relationship. Kylo Ren is a great tortured villain.

So far I've seen the Force awakens two times, while I think that the story is simple and very similar to A New Hope, I find that the individual characters are what I enjoy the most about the movie.

That and the fact that Snoke is not a Muun.

I've still only see it once, but I remember it vividly.. even down the editing style and the way many lines were delivered. I plan to watch it one or two more times and then sit back and wait for the extended cut.

The 3D is not bad at all. There is one star destroyer shot that looks like it's gonna literally poke you in the eye. I recommend it be viewed at least once in 3D while it's in theaters.

Well I think that the process of watching TFA is a lot like dating. The first time I was nervous, overexcited, couldn't ease myself... Tomorrow I'm going for a second time and a third in the coming days. I think I will enjoy it more.
