I think he's stepping down off the ramp of his ship and lights his saber because there is someone up ahead in the distance.

 

Does anyone have any idea who Domhnall Gleeson will play? Any rumours or speculations? For some reason I have a feeling he might play a comic relief character, but he's probably to good an actor for that.

I read today he plays a bit of a scoundrel. But no one has said much more than his role is smaller in this movie and will be key in the next.

 

A scoundrel? Yeah, I can defanitly see that. Maybe a Sith spy or something like that.

 

I think they meant more of a Han type scoundrel. Maybe even a love interest.

 

I'm leaning towards Skywalker Jr.

 

I am also of the Skywalker Jr. party, but Gleeson's talents also include good comedic timing he is known for being a fairly jovial actor.

 

I feel like if he was luke's kid then we'd have heard more about him by now. Why wouldn't luke's son be one of the characters that we saw in the trailer? I feel like that role would make him the lead.

So Luke coud have a 'I am your father' moment in future films? Not sure how I feel about that. So much for the 'it is forbidden/encouraged (sigh) to love' part where the jedi are concerned. If true then hopefully Luke's lovelife isn't used to make his loyalties where the force is concerned ambiguous.
Never liked the idea that celibacy is a way to protect a Jedi from the dark side.

 

Well it was an idea that totally backfired on the JEDI, and which I can see as a commentary on all these restrictions imposed in various religions today; I mean, celibate Catholic priests generally don't seem to become better people of it ^^

So...another day hyped on Star Wars. Today I am going to "attach" the teaser trailer to a lesson so that my class are aware there has been an awakening. Last night, for the first time since the teaser went live, I was able to actually do something which is not related to Star Wars. I was able to actually read a chapter in one of the novels I'm trying to get through. Not bad. But right after I had finished the chapter I just had to check the webs in case there's Star Wars news. Oh man it's going to be one rough long year.

I've tried to read every post in this long and winding thread and don't think anyone has mentioned the rumble. Yesterday I listened to the trailer with headphones and at the end, just before Luke's OG lightsaber ignites, I heard a distinct sound, not dissimilar to that of a force choke. Perhaps my ears were playing tricks on me.

I get the feeling his opponent may be behind him or not directly in front. He senses his/her presence. Or he's a Sith logger.

No, not as far as I know, but I love the earlier suggestion that someone made that it was a seaside town that was under attack! I'm picturing X-Wings clashing with new TIE variants, Stormtroopers battling it out with Republic soldiers, blaster bolts flying everywhere, and all the while tourists in baseball caps and sunglasses hiding behind donkeys and shielding their whippy ice-creams from all the sand blown into the air. Pew pew! "Mind, yer cone's dripping, Vera!" Hee-haw!
