ANH and ESB are already set in stone as masterpieces. They are indeed.

A New Hope is a flawless movie, in the context, with the budget and ILM as a startup company.

ESB is a tour-de-force. At a time sequels were bantha poodoo.

Return of the Jedi is a decent movie too. I still have a lot of fun watching this movie 32 years after I saw it for the first time. It is still a great spectacle! And I can't say the same for a lot a sci-fi movies from this period.

The Phantom Menace.... it has problems. And I must admit having a hard time watching it nowadays.
But... I still have a lot of fun watching Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Both movies suffer from problems, but still.... I'd rather watch them than a lot of sci-fi movies from that period.

The problem with CGI is that it's aging badly. The same with videogames we all loved back in the days... for the graphics and such... it has a timestamp pretty obvious on their face.

I have the feeling TFA will be a very good Star Wars movie... fans and critics will rank it on the same level as the OT films.... and, like the classics, will probably be worth a watching 15 years from now... at that time, Attack of the Clones will simply be rendered unwatchable because of the dated CGI...

    Question here folks :)

In 2015.... what is more believable to your eyes:

Sy Snootles from the original 1983 Return of the Jedi Version or Sy Snootles' band from the 1997 Special Edition?

I don't think we can say The Force Awakens will be "the best Star Wars film ever!"

However, I think we can say The Force Awakens will be "the best Star Wars film ever until a better one comes along!"

After all, I could say that with complete honesty in the Summer of 1980.

It's okay for some answers to change with time :)

Oh wow. I can't remember if it was a field trip or me and my friends at the movies. The ESB trailer came on and we all went nuts! I remember Darth Vader swinging away at Luke and sparks flying!!! I've been locked in ever since! For me,,,, though we may yet get a better film than the force awakens, it still holds a special place for me marking an end to a long drought of kick but in your face emotional, comical star wars bliss. I need that feeling of satisfaction when I'm getting up to leave the theater, not left wanting (as in I wish it was better). I hope the new movies get better and deeper with every episode! Can't wait to see what Rian Johnson comes up with. ....................Hang in there Daniel!!!!!!
