I personally think Bob Iger is doing a good job of steering the ship over there when it comes to Star Wars, I just hope Disney treats this franchise with the utmost of respect. I always felt Pirates of the Carribean was Disney's Star Wars.. and they've handled that well (mostly)

Anyway, the main thing I commend Disney for is how they've made the original trilogy relevant again. They have made the original trilogy essential viewing for this new generation of fans.

Agreed. TFA is not perfect by any means, but neither is the OT and, goddamit, Star Wars is relevant again after so long and I don't think anything could make me happier.(duel)

It's funny, between Ep. III and the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm, I had come to consider Star Wars as one of those things I used to like and could come back to every once in a while. But I no longer considered myself a "fan" for a while. Thankfully, ever since 2013 or so, my Star Wars interest has been reignited, and it never would have happened without the new life Disney gave to the franchise.

Hat eme for this but I'd say, "Thank you DISNEY for buying LFL to have star wars survive but screw you for potentially losing ground by over exposing the franchise...I hope you learn a moral in-between to continue the franchise in a very successful way

Yeah they have been over exposing things, that's the only real negative thing I have to say.. but any problems people have with the TFA plot are probably to blame on JJ/Kathleen/Kasdan. I personally think TFA was good enough. No it wasn't very original in places, but it'll be up to episode 8 to fix these issues. Episode 8 will make or break this trilogy.. just like Episode 2

There is a way to avoid oversaturation, don't watch it. One thing I really like about the new LFL, they are not just a licensing company. They work and produce content instead just putting Star Wars stickers on it. That should have been done in the late 80s.
From what we know so far Fisney is not really in charge LFL is, another good idea.

With all due respect, what makes you think anything had to make the original trilogy relevant again? If there was a time that SW had to be awakened from it's slumber it was before the PT but after the prequels, SW has never been dormant again and it has never needed anything and much less a rehash to get it going again. After the PT, SW has been non-stop as we have been getting TV series, books, games, toys and so much more.

Uh they still license things for star wars...especially their video game division...and oversaturation is more so the amount/quality of the content that's being pushed through to their releases and not who watches it or not

Oh really, and that is not ok for their own created content? There were only some books, nobody at Lucasfilm cared about. We had years after years of crappy license games that only sold with a sticker on it, something like the Storygroup or long term plans never existed.
Of course it will have consequences, once people stay away.

I agree 100%. In fact, imo Disney respects and understands Star Wars a lot better than post 80s Lucas.

That's what it would have happened if Disney hadn't bought it.

Ok they made movies and Clone Wars, what else is coming from them? Here is how Luceno interacted with Lucas, via email and after that ,the right hand of Lucas Roffmann took over, head of Lucas Licensing. And that is how many creators of the EU worked with Lucasfilm, vetoes, minor hints, not to much work by Lucasfilm.

The holocron was founded in 2000 until then they didn't even keep track of canon.

And now look how coordinated and planned everything looks since 2012.

Well, "approved" doesn't necessarily mean "had much involvement with." It could just mean he gave it the green light when it was asked for.

That is what those license buyers said to gain fan credibility for their products, but what that means you can see there in that interview and some others, emails lol. He didn't have much interest in the EU, like I said the clone wars EU version got ignored and wiped with the prequels.

well because george was always right...though I still think that it's partial fan service including old eu characters on disney's behalf..
