If the ending of this film is any indication, he might be showing up in the sequel as well.

There's just no way, right? I don't see how there can be this much noise on this without it being true, though.

I think it would be pretty cool for Maul cameo back on the big screen again. Just have to ask though, did the rumor start from someone actually seeing the premiere or did it start just because he was seen at the premiere? To me it would be a logical deduction and a good sign but not 100%.

Reviews don't go up till the 15th. Usually spoiler discussions don't start till that Friday.

No, it came from seeing the actual movie. It was a big post describing the movie, which at least one other who was allegedly there has verified (remember, allegedly). That Park was there is noteable though, he's such a bit player that it seems really odd if it were untrue. But it seems that enough people are telling people about it indirectly that the word is out.

Well, my thing is what idiot what risk their privilege of going to a future premiere? Yes, its elaborate, but Mark Hamill was at the premiere and he is not in Solo. Would they really risk such a small role for Maul? Just for a cameo? Especially after TPM?

Define years... cause canon wise he died in Rebels.

Well, the leak is anonymous, like anything on the internet. Anyone could have been at the screening and then blabbed about it on reddit. The big initial reddit leak was from a report from a friend who attended the screening, who no doubt bugged his friend for all the details and then posted as many of them as he could remember.

LFL is clearly not worried about spoilers, or they wouldn't release the movie to a public (albeit, invite-only) screening involving press and reporters (and their friends) watching the film. Lucasfilm knew word would be getting around well before even the reviews are out, which is 5 more days from then, on the 15th. TFA and TLJ didn't have any press screenings so that the wide public saw the film at the same time as anyone to preserve the spoilers, I think Marvel has been doing that as well. I think the idea LFL has is that they are confident enough in the film to reverse at least some of the bad press beforehand and there aren't any twists that fans didn't see coming EXCEPT this one, so they are willing to trade a a minor spoiler for positive word of mouth.

I’ve seen quite a few tweets and Facebook comments about Maul being in the film since yesterday. If he’s really in the movie, it’s either because they felt like the riskiness of the film prompted a need for a cameo that would really satisfy fans (and Darth Maul has long been a fan favorite for many) or because they’re setting him up to have an important role in a future project, whatever that may be.

Either way, if he’s in the film—even if it is just a brief cameo—I’m stoked! It’ll be great to see Maul in an actual Star Wars movie again.

Alden Ehrenreich has a contract for 3 films, keep in mind, this is all sequel building: Han starts working for Jabba, which brings him into contact with Boba Fett for the first time, and brings him into competition with Darth Maul and his gang. They didn't want to blow their load on the first film, so this film doubles as an origin story in case it was a flop and they didn't want any more.

I do hope it is true, will be exciting if it is...I think being there is a good indication, esp if he wasnt at TFA, R1, or TLJ (not sure about that data) but I take what is told on reedit with a grain of salt

I also hope this is true; however, I also hope it makes more sense on screen than what I picture in my mind. All I can picture is one great big helping of “fan service.” The future is very exciting for Star Wars indeed.

The moment I saw him alive in Clone Wars was my only moment in Star Wars fandom which caused me to have enough of anything new from Star Wars for quite some time :p

I enjoyed a lot Clone Wars. I didn't pass through season 2 of Rebels. To me recycling old characters over again is just lack of imagination. Maul was just a hunting dog in Phantom Menace, nothing more. A Sith made only for killing. Tyranus was, on the other hand, sophisticated and smart. So I never had problem with his death. He was too sure of himself, not focused and stupid, he deserved to die. Bringing him yet again is again lack of imagination. As someone els said the vast mayority of moviegoers will be confused, because they didn't see the cartoons. And no matter how much money will Disney get for stamping "canon" on every fart I'll enjoy cartoons for what it is and won't ever mix it with the movies. I may speak differently being a young kid but now cartoons to me are just fresh air of something else..
