I tried to point out how all opinions are subjective, both positive and negative and for whatever reason, and all legit because it's someones thoughts, and he went for the Disney bribe excuse every time.

Don't waste your time with this troll. I already did. He'll just accuse you of being bribed by Disney.

Please define a bit. If that is the only device capable of breaching the door then it will be a very long time until the first order can bring another device over considering the distance from their new base to the rebel planet.

Time is valuable and would have bought them for the rebels to come up with a plan. Leia can then contact Luke to help or Lando for help.

Maybe given time in a galaxy with trillions of people some would gasp respond to the call given time?

in real life with the military sacrificing yourself to buy time for others is one of the most heroic things you can do.

    OK, ENOUGH OF THIS!!

There are a specific number of you that need to leave your hatred, anger, and cynicism at the door...it's irritating me.

    Didn't like the film?? Fine.

Life is RUINED over one film out of nine?? A movie...really??

Know what being pissed about it will do?? Nothing.

Please proceed without attacking your fellow posters...address the post only, not the poster.

    Thank you

You are just wrong, period and quite hypocritical... You have literally done the same thing

    Two things:

    1. This is a trilogy = which means EVERYTHING doesn't have to be explained in one movie
    2. You literally have done what you are claiming that I am doing = adding in your own head canon.

That is the issue with the arguments you guys are posing, it is all conjecture, nothing based in/on fact whatsoever

You don’t wish to reply to my point? Ok that’s fine but this is a Star Wars forum which will have people who loved the film and people who hated it.

I don’t understand why our negativity is Nat less than valid than peoples positivity.

I always welcome discussion and I don’t personally believe in censoring opinions which are not offensive and only attack a product . As a staff member I think you would agree. If I’m wrong maybe this isn’t the Star Wars forum for me.

The best way to put anything like this into perspective is to grab every single review and then lets see the ratio... I wonder if you would be posting things like this again...

Because guess what, if you are gonna post this as an argument, you have to take into account all that are like it...

Because you guys arguments are falling so flat, and the fact that you can't see it only adds to the idea that you are trolling

If a part of a movie confuses me or doesn’t make sense I will label it as a plothole as it takes me out of the experience.

Episode 7 had stuff like Snokes origin or Rey’s parents being a mystery that’s fine.

Now Snoke is dead and Luke is dead too Rose plot points are tied up so I’m not sure why you’re assuming episode 9 is a magic film which will explain everything.

I must have missed this point of heroic sacrifice that you made.. please share, and I am confident I can explain how it falls flat.. especially if it follows the same line as the above accusations you are making...

Ok my post is why is Hodor’s sacrifice considered heroic but Finn’s wasn’t?

Some people tried arguing that Finn’s sacrifice wasn’t heroic so I countered with this and recover no reply to date.

Please define a bit. If that is the only device capable of breaching the door then it will be a very long time until the first order can bring another device over considering the distance from their new base to the rebel planet.

I have never argued that Finn's heroic sacrifice wasn't heroic. I actually believe that as you do. His sacrifice was on the same level as Holdo's. I don't think there is any debate there at all.

But I am puzzled because I am unsure what you are getting at in regards to plot holes with this example. Please clarify for me

Finn is an absolute hero in my book

A lot of people have argued it wasn’t heroic I never said it was you but in the replies I got that’s how they justify the difference between Hodor and Finn’s sacrifice

Rose crashes his ship and told him not to throw away his life. While Hodor’s sacrifice is praised as heroic in the context of the film

Had Luke or Rey not come it would have been the end of the rebels and Rose had no idea that Luke and Rey would appear to save them, while Finn’s sacrifice would have bought time.

It’s not a plothole but an example of conflicting messages present throught the film.

A plot hole would be why Luke wasn’t willing to kill his genocidal space dad no matter what.

But willing to kill his student and family because he MIGHT do something bad.

I disagree, as I feel there was a message there, which Rose shared. She knew that although it could have bought time in Finn's eyes, the others felt it wouldn't and that it would have been a needless sacrifice. What that scene shows to me is that Finn had fully embraced his place in the rebellion. He was prepared to save his friends at all cost. He felt that this was the end, apparently Poe, Rose, etc.. did not.

I think that was a powerful scene in which the movie did showcase Finn's heroic posture. That was their way of displaying that without having to lose the character alltogether. I think that was actually very good writing. Rose has a thing for Finn, I know in that position, if I saw someone I loved about to sacrifice for what i thought was NO valid reason, I would have done the same thing. They both were heroes. That scene is in fact all about heroism, and sacrifice for what they all believed in.

See, though it is a natural response, you can't just look at things from one perspective, you have to open your mind.

As with any story, if you only take it in from your experiences, and not open your mind to a different perspective based on another's potential perspective, then there are things you will miss, and things that may not make sense to you.

THIS is why I loved the writing. RJ eliminated lazy thinking from the audience and challenged us to open our minds and see and embrace something different.

That is a lesson in fact that this world needs right about now IMO

How wouldn’t it have bought time? That’s the only device in the first order’s possession of breaching the wall it was elaborated on in the film.

Without the device the first order wouldn’t have been able to breach the wall hence buying time. This is a fact. So. I fail to see why the sacrifice would be viewed as pointless by anyone.

Rose’s action in the most likely scanerio have been she killed Finn by ramming into him at such a high speed. As well as her self and I by some miracle they survive an AT-AT would fire on them instantly before they can get back to base.

But you are assuming Finn's plan would have worked... There was an argument presented in the movie that this might not have been successful, and then what? needless sacrifice

What was the argument it wouldn’t have worked? Crashing the ship into the generator seems fool proof to me

There was a few things to consider.

For one, and quote convincing --> The cannon was heating up... Finn would have been disintegrated before doing any real damage to that thing with that small ship.
