The other thing is, this movie's opening is capitalizing on the goodwill generated by The Force Awakens.

Justice League stumbled in part because of the ill-will of the audience from Batman vs. Superman.

A fair point to make, but it's worth noting - BVSDOJ and JL both had their OW projections decreased due to decidedly mixed reception from audiences. Whereas, again, TLJ's projections are still rising in spite of the film being contentious with fans.

I think the thing to keep in mind is that general audiences hold way more power over how a movie actually does at the box office than the fanbase.

Especially in this case. Star Wars has such a wide appeal that the actual hardcore fanbase makes up a very small percentage of the audience.

Now i'm getting into social media arguments that TLJ only got a high RT critic score because they didn't want to lose out on future press press screenings, and " 91000 user scores are more important than anything a critic has to say".

This movie has broken the minds of some people.

So "Disney pays the critics" 2.0, then.

Excuse me while I wash the stupid that I just saw out of my eyes.

I just read a post that says

A completely serious post. dead set, this is what we've devolved into with this movie.

It's a conspiracy! A multi-billion dollar company with endless assets and franchises (just bought FOX), has everything to lose unless they bribe critics to love a single movie!

Despite some fans feeling the same...

I know you're being sarcastic here, but I do think it's worth noting that bribing the press would be a lot more trouble than it is actually worth, and that the kind of money that could be dedicated to that would be better served to develop new products.
B, actually. JL fared a bit better with a B+.

I'd give BvS a Z personally, if we graded by the entire alphabet and A was best.

That's it though. Disney wouldn't be stupid enough to bribe people, they'd just make a movie. That's expensive enough with marketing etc. It'd be a waste of time and resources for them.

For me it was really telling how positive my son and my nephew reacted to it.
It has smashed some die hard and EU fans but it wins a new generation.

'Let the past die, kill it if you have to.'

Disney not only bought the critics but also cinemascore and ComScore and postrack and all the other industry polling services.

Disney is clearly playing the longest long game ever.

Also, Dinsey wasn't able to shush up a small ass think piece about Anaheim. Y'all think they'll be able to cover up the payout of some 200+ media outlets?

    Buffoonery.

I reiterate the point I've made 5 times already in this thread.

Cinemascore isn't a measure of quality but of how much the audience enjoyed it. And the movies WOM. Nothing more, nothing less. Both those franchises made bank.

Critic Score on RT is 8.2 and on Metacritic is 86%

Those are more niche audience films and not 4-quad movies. If you're collectively pleasing all four of the major demographics, then you're doing something right.

The biggest argument being made by some more rabid social media posters is that RT's user reviews are the holy grail of opinion for this film. The cinemascore has nothing to do with film quality, simply user feedback.

Hence why putting all stock in RT user scores is not a wise argument.
