    The best argument I've seen against the dumb-as-rocks "Disney paid the critics" argument happened last year, on Memorial Day Weekend. Fox's X-Men: Apocalypse got middling reviews. The movie opened against Disney's Alice Through The Looking Glass... Which somehow got worse reception.

    Surely if Disney were trying to shame their competition to increase ticket sales on their movie, they would actually make sure that, y'know, the critics liked their film instead of disliking another company's movie. Or - get this - they could just spend the kind of money it would take to cover up a flagrant violation of journalistic standards on a movie that people actually want to see. What a novel idea!

    I went over and read some of the reviews.

    They are frothing at the mouth wow. I remember an undercurrent of hate towards TFA. This feels worse.

    Because actual empirical evidence, such as increasing box office estimates and exit polls from people who actually saw the film, suggest that it is a vocal minority.

    Disney didn’t bribe reviewers. Because they genuinely liked the movie.

    Wait...what? Some of you say.

    Because it’s their jobs to see films and think/analyse them to write a review. And TLJ had important themes and was different than usual sw fare. So it angered some people because they couldn’t understand it, and others because it ruined SW for them and didn’t fit their headcanon.

    Am not generalizing, just trying to understand some of the backlash.

    So the king arthur the legend of the sword that has 29 % Critics rottentomatoes, but a 69% Audience rating is because the arthur's fanbase crazily voted mutilples times and used bot etc to level up the movie arthur. Since audience and critcs are not on the same page, and it's not normal and there is no truth about that difference .

    I loved that movie by the way. But I'm still searching for that arthur fanbase, can someone guide me, to find them?

    in my country, the critical acclaim is only 3.5 /5

    Not that great, it could be worse for sure. But it could be so much better for such quality movie.

    Oui ^^ sur Allociné c'est un carnage la partie commentaires ^^. Et sur un forum disney c'est très divisé aussi. Ce film on l'aime ou pas , y a pas de juste milieu.

    in the french forum, there is a guy who said , he never loved star wars until now, the eps 8 is the first star wars he loved. People answered to him " don't worry , you still don't love star wars movies, this wasn't a star wars movie, that 's why you loved it for once. LOL

    Yeah, surely if "Disney paid the critics" Alice Through The Looking Glass would have gotten better reviews than X:Men Apocalypse.
