I wondered about this myself. The TIE he arrived in looked imperial. The only explanation that I can derive from that and from where he came from, the wreckage of the Death Star II, is this:

A TIE fighter survived not only the explosion of the Death Star II, but also the wreckage crashing into the moon they were on, Kef Bir.

This TIE fighter also remained seemingly unscratched and in working condition for 31 years.

This and Luke's X-Wing still being functional after years underwater both seemed ridiculous to me.

I've seen the possibility that the TIE either came from Jannah's crew, or they simply managed to find it and refit it with their knowledge of First Order/Imperial tech

Ben was on the wreckage of the DS2. The Falcon presumably picked up Finn, Jannah and her people but not Ben, since he arrives alone on Exegol in a TIE fighter. If Ben didn't find the working TIE in the DS2 wreckage, he somehow got back to shore and found an imperial TIE somewhere else? There were two of the skimmer craft at the wreckage that Rey and Finn and Jannah used so he could have found one of them and returned to shore. Finding an imperial TIE in what looks to be perfect condition, seems unlikely. If anything, maybe a First Order TIE might be present if Jannah's crew had some pilots who defected. It's hard to tell but it looks imperial by the colors. Also, someone else pointed out that TIEs don't have hyperdrive. This is supported by Obi Wan in ANH when he refers to a TIE as a short range fighter that couldn't have gotten that far into space by itself. Or maybe Luke or Han said that last part, not sure, but someone did. Overall, it just seems like it was a poor solution to a real problem to have him show up in a TIE that doesn't have any explanation.

If intact TIEs were shown in the wreckage during the scenes on the DS2, that might of helped. It just comes out of nowhere though. Probably on editing room floor with every other explanation.

I guess you can choose to entertain a possible explanation, or be mad about it.

Are you implying that I'm mad about it? Posting about part of the movie in a forum about the movie is just discussion. I know that you can't get a feel for emotional state from simple text on a page, but I don't think I implied anger in my wording. I've said it before, people in these forums have shed light on parts of this movie that I simply missed. Also, some people have the visual dictionary and post answers from there.

Having watched all the movies, I don't recall there ever being a moment which told us that no ROTJ period Imperial Tie was capable of long range/hyperspace travel.

Vader was flying a prototype in ANH, apparently. Which is why he was able to escape and rendex vous with the Imperial fleet after the Death Star's destruction.

Yeah its going to be funny if every question/issue posed about this film is chalked up to someone just being mad. There is going to be a lot of "mad" because there is a lot wrong with this movie.

Sorry if I misinterpreted you, Obi. Guess I just meant that I personally don't see much reason to try to find a flaw with a scene when presented with a plausible explanation. Now, whether or not the film presented that explanation clearly (or even intentionally) is certainly up for debate, because perhaps I'm being too generous in even considering that an option in the first place.

In most cases, yeah, critique is totally fair.

But if someone's only purpose for logging in here was just to make post after negative post... well, let's just say I wouldn't take that person's opinion very seriously, nor would I think that would be a healthy lifestyle for someone to have.

Not naming any names, of course ;)

No worries. I didn't think that the movie presented any explanation at all, let alone clearly or intentionally. Some people here have presented some possibilities but they're just theories.

I think it's natural for someone, myself included, to vent about a movie that was expected to be epic but was found to be disappointing. Commiserating with others who might feel the same way is just what people do in real life, aside from Star Wars or anything else. If this is a "positive view of TROS only" zone then I'll respect that. My sole purpose for logging in is to discuss many Star Wars subjects with other fans. I don't only post on TROS subforum. The movie just came out so I have questions and comments about it more than the OT and PT right now. I've posted in many of the other subforums, though.

I've gotten the impression that people who have issues with TROS should shut up and keep it to themselves. I'll agree that logging in just to bash the movie is not a good use of time, but discussing it and pointing out parts that don't seem to make sense seems like fair game to me. Getting input from others' perspectives has changed my mind about something on more than one occasion. I am sincerely sorry if anyone dislikes hearing criticism of TROS but I don't think that criticizing it should be discouraged.

For the record, I wasn't referring to you when talking about people who log in just to be pessimistic.

I think your critiques have been fair so far.

I guess though, as someone who enjoyed both TLJ and TROS in all their flaws, I'm just kind of exhausted by it all. Perhaps a media break is in order for me.

I owe you an apology. I really thought you were talking about me. I also need to stop posting about TROS. I'm not adding anything useful, just venting. There's a lot of Star Wars on the way in the coming years and I have high hopes for it.

I don't hate TROS, tbh. I hate the fact that it could have been so much more than what we got and that it feels sloppy.

Honest question- There are really people that are surprised the kiss happened? That's interesting. Based on the previous two movies, I'd have bet real money it would happen.
