Hated the last 3 min but hey some fans still did not understand that the likelyhood of becoming a force user is still there. Remember in Clone Wars when the bad guys had to steal a holocron with the location guide to all force sensitive children. They always pop up across the galaxy and someone needs to cover that potential. It also goes back to Ren and Rey, the question of what is important, born into a bloodline or not. The force can strike back and sometimes you don't expect it where is comes from. There were a thousand generations of Jedi and ultimatly 10000 Jedi in the prequels, they pop up randomly here and there and they need guidance. Rey is the last Jedi, she got those books. There is a spark to ignite the New republic as Holdo put it and there will be a spark for a new Jedi Order.

There's coherence in your thoughts but i prefer the Nihilistic way of processing this, We all are Force Users, Force Users are Everywhere and the Force is inside anyone of Us, therefore We are all EQUAL, there are no Special People, Force People Vs. Non-Force People, We are all People and the Force is inside all the Living Things and all the Galaxy Entities (just like Yoda presented it to Luke).
I Loved the ending because it may (i Hope) diminish or even eliminate the Casts in the Galaxy (but i'm just an Idealistic fool).

Off Course you are right about a excessive criticism about narrative options, every author has them, but i do agree that a Movie should be self explanatory with no extra readings or viewings attached, Movies should Be Plug and Play Systems, you go to a Movie not knowing anything about it and you understand and enjoy the story, if more explanation is needed i guess the movie plot is failling and you should go with a lenghty TV Show like Game of Thrones to cover all the Extra Information.

But the Movie Studies are going Comics Style, in order to watch and understand a movie you will need to watch at least 5-6 movies before, read several pre-movie novels and backstories, watch some kids cartoon show for a year, buy all kind of Toys and Legos to Your KNids even if you don't have Kides or your Kids don't have a clue about what you are talking about, play a couple of movie video games non-stop and must important of all you need to buy PLENTY of Merchandise to let everyone know you are into that culture. After the Movie there are more Books, Comics, Cartoons, Video Games, DVD's, Soundtracks, Toys, Legos, More Toys and Special Editions, Definitive Editions, Author Editions, Collector Editions,.... (boy it gets tiring and expensive to follow up a Movie you really liked).

As long there Fans like Us the companies will keep Milking the Sacred Cow because this is not about Values or Messages it´s all just about the MONEY!

    It is in that way:
We should not forget about Luke's weird thought process and how the Jedi failed in the clone wars:
She got those books from the time before that happened, more civilized.

10 years would be a bold move and would give some problems regarding the aging of the cast but as I said before I do also believe for a big time jump. At least 4 years but more probably 5-7 years. That's my prediction

Should we expect "The Last Jedi" Reviews from @DFF and @Emperor Abrams????
(they both set this forums on fire after their "The Force Awakens" Hatred Reviews)

You mean the flashbacks of young Ben Solo and Luke. I liked them. They were brief and told us everything we needed to know.

The filming and the lights were ... weird. Hamill looks like a pure dumb psychopath ...

    Poor Luke ...

I know a lot of the fans don't like the depiction of Luke in this movie. But for me it was almost perfect. In my headcanon it was Luke who failed Ben/Kylo. Now it's actually canon.

He looks like that in Kylo's story, not when he remember its. It's a clearly Rashomon inspired scene, for Kylo it's a betrayal, for Luke a moment of weakness and the scenes reflect that.

The photography of these scenes were poor. It looked weird.

It is not about his story but more about how they chose to film him.

BTW, he's a total psycho in this movie ... The only time he's old Luke is with Yoda, he got his smile back.

On a side note, now that the Resistance is down to about a dozen people -- with all OT main characters are dead (assuming Leia will join Luke in the Force in the downtime between Ep.VIII & Ep. IX) -- and Leia's Call to Arms has gone out to every part of the Outer Rim, I think there is a real possibility to see Lando in Episode IX! Wouldn't that be cool if Lando came out of whatever scheme he's been up to and picks up the fight again in memory of his old friends? I would love to see how a Lando & Chewie relationship might evolve after 30+ years, and I think he could be a pretty solid character for the next film. I'd love to see Lando (with Lobot at his side, of course) coming back :)

What's more, with Solo coming up, Lando should be back in the fan's & franchise's consciousness :D

How did Finn fare in the movie? Did he get demoted from leading man to supporting character?

Disappointing movie from start to finish. I don’t think Rian actually gets Star Wars at all.

I liked the ‘ironing’ joke though....

Storywise he's still a big deal, but I would say he's more of a supporting character in this movie.
