On vacation in Hawaii and I tried my first-ever Açaí Bowl. From Haleiwa Bowls in Oahu. I got the Paniolo Bowl which is a blended base of banana, peanut butter, & dates | topped with granola, local bananas, strawberries, raw cacao nibs, and raw honey. It was amazing!!

Angelman’s Signature (Not Terribly Healthy) Salad

Cut the following greenery into suitable small chunks:
    1 Red paprika

    1 Yellow paprika

    ½ Cucumber

½ Packet of sweet Cherry Tomatoes

¼ Red onion (very finely cut)

    1 Ordinary chili (finely cut)

    Add:
    2 Fist-fulls of cashew nuts

    100g Feta cheese

    ¼ Teaspoon black pepper

1 Tablespoon aioli or other white dressing of choice

1 squirt of BBQ sauce for extra flavor

Mix thoroughly together in a bowl.
Serve for two people as its own lunch dish, or for up to four people as a side to meat or whatever. Double for more or hungrier people (I've been known to devour a full portion all by myself as dinner... but I'm a pig, so).
    Enjoy!

Alternatives: Mix & match, add & subtract things as you like. Don’t like onion? No problem, just leave it out. Want more zest? Add another chili or use a spicy aioli or BBQ sauce option.

Other exciting options include, seeds of various kinds, parmesan, spinach & other salad leaves, carrots (very finely cut), and I’m sure you can throw in some jerky or finely sliced strips of meat or whatever, too.

Couldn't agree more, besides the burger doesn't look that tasty imo.

Lately, whenever we're craving burger, @NinjaRen and I have been ordering the Veggie Burger from Hans in Glück , we snapped a picture:

    20210717_121621_760.jpg

A cheeseburger from MC Donald's without pickles or onions (we always place a special order to make sure that it's fresh) doesn't taste bad, but the ingredients are worrisome like Roges said.

You lucky son of a Wookie!

The bastards at Micky D's refused to bring it back in my country!! :(
If we want it we're advised to stage a roadtrip to our German neighbours.. With today's fuelprices it'll be an expensive sandwich! (If you're in the US and you think you've got it bad with fuelprices... think again! Currently we pay €2 per litre! That comes to $10.35 per Gallon!!! And we also have to pay quarterly roadtaxes!!!)

Sorry... let me regain my composure...

Please enjoy your delicious, succulent, scrumptious... (...) McRib, knowing that you are among the lucky few who can! ;)

Sounds good! Maybe I'll give it a try sometime.

Oh that looks yummie!!! (and I'm a real Meat-a-saur!! :D)

Usually I do the same trick at McD's, but with tomato.
(I despise raw, cold and wet tomato on my hot burger!!
If they would grill it for a minute or so... It'd be so much better!
Which would also, incidentally, make it much more nutricious! ;))

I only visit McD's a few times per year, so I permit myself to use the ageold motto: "Don't ask, don't tell... as long as it tastes great!!" :p

This one will clear out your sinuses and taste awesome all at the same time!

Tom Kha Soup (Thai coconut chicken soup):
    Ingredients:
    • 1 or 2 tbs of coconut oil (I use 2)
    • ½ of one onion sliced (i use a entire red onion)
    • 2 cloves garlic chopped (I love garlic so I use 4 cloves and I use a garlic press)
    • ½ of one red jalapeno pepper sliced, or a couple Thai chiles, halved (Thai chiles are a must! I use at least 3)
    • 3 ¼-inch slices galangal or ginger (I use ginger, at least 5 of these)
    • 1 lemongrass stalk pounded with the side of a knife and cut into 2-inch long pieces (easily found at any asian market, don't cut your hand)
    • 1 entire red bell pepper sliced
    • 2 teaspoons red Thai curry paste (I use 3-4, must use!!!)
    • 4 cups chicken broth
    • 4 cups canned coconut cream or coconut milk (cream is tastier)
    • 2 medium chicken breasts cut into bite-sized pieces (I like more chicken than this at least 4 breasts, cut it , tear it, shred it, seems to make very little difference)
    • 8 ounces white mushroom caps sliced (at least 8 oz)
    • 1-2 tablespoons coconut sugar (I use 2 at least)
    • 1 ½ – 2 tablespoons fish sauce plus more to taste (I use at least 2-4)
    • 2-3 tablespoons fresh lime juice (3 is best to me)
    • 2-3 green onions sliced thin
    • fresh cilantro chopped, for garnish
    Directions:

    1. In a large pot, heat the coconut oil over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, jalapeno or chile, galangal or ginger, lemongrass, red bell pepper, and red curry paste and cook, stirring frequently, for 5-10 minutes, or until onions are softened. Add chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.

    2. Strain out the aromatics the garlic, onions, lemongrass, and ginger and discard(I like the onions and the pepper slices to stay in my soup and the garlic has been pressed so its stays no mater what. I do get the ginger and lemongrass out). Add in coconut cream or milk, chicken breast (or tofu or shrimp), and mushrooms. Simmer until chicken breast pieces are just cooked through, then add fish sauce, coconut sugar, and lime juice, plus more of each to taste.

    3. Cook 4-5 minutes, then remove from heat serve with sliced green onions and fresh cilantro on top.

Fair warning, this is spicy. To lower the heat use jalapenos instead of Thai chiles.

I forgot, you can put it over jasmine rice for a more filling meal as well. This is the key:

So true, the (cold) tomatoes at MC Donald's (and Subway) don't taste good, I mean who wants a soggy wet burger bun?

Right? MC Donald's always tries so hard to get on that healthier lifestyle train that's what their marketing is all about, and there are ways they really could improve their burgers but hell no, they're clueless...

*in my best Smeagol impression* "No they doesn't... they doesn't taste very good at all, do they Precious? Nobody likes soggy bunses."
    "Gollum.. Gollum!!!!"

They are usually pale and tasteless...

Yup... and it has been scientifically proven, that when tomatoes are heated (boiled, fried, grilled, or even dried in the hot Mediterranean sun), their nutricional value is multiplied several times! It also tastes much better! (No idea how this works, but somehow the heating-process releases all the goodness that raw tomatoes won't...)
No more pale, wet, tasteless, cold or lukewarm discs in your burger! :p

They should change their name to Mc Dunno's!! :D (sounds similar and covers their strategy/MO)

So I was scrapping together a late meal for myself yesterday. The kids had made pizza for lunch, and then I saw we also had some leftover ham, and there was a pineapple that we needed to use... guess what I had?! :D

It's Autumn, so the Supreme Leader and I are baking pumpkin spice bread every other day. This one contains pumpkin spice, pumpkin and chestnut flour, 3 bananas and nut butter and some walnuts. On top we sprinkled some pumpkin and chia seeds.

A perfect treat for lunch at work or to have for breakfast with rose hip marmelade or maple syrup.

Now that we've moved into a house with an actually usable kitchen, we've been doing a ton more cooking lately, but even so, 2021 has been dominated by two things for me, culinarily: charcuterie and smoked meats.

I don't have pics of nearly everything, but here are a few (and please excuse my poor photography skills):

A charcuterie board we made while at the lake in June.

    Chorizo-themed charcuterie (with Margs!)

Perhaps unconventional, but a Wing-themed charcuterie board a few weeks ago
    [IMG]

Brisket (and champagne!) to celebrate inauguration day!

Char Siu, a Chinese smoked pork that was incredible
    [IMG]

We're hosting a friend's baby show this weekend and are going all out- smoked ribs, shrimp cocktail, and the biggest and most elaborate charcuterie board I've ever made. Can't wait!

    Heresy!!!

How could you my brother.. ..so very dissapointing..... :(

I'm severely contemplating the same.. ;)

Unfortunately for you... that would be a definate no!

The use of a cool plate is insignificant to the flouting of all sacred laws concerning the Holy Art of making Pizza!

    Ooohhh... Those look delish @RockyRoadHux!

Then again... everything is delish, covered in Maple Syrup! :p

Those are beautiful dishes and they look absolutely Yummy!! :p

The pictures aren't too bad either @cawatrooper, but maybe you can experiment with lower angles sometimes. :)
(especially both the charcuteries and the brisket could have benefitted from a lower angled camera-pov!)
