I would also say, can them in or freeze them after making a puree out of them with some added flavor like fresh basil. Or jalapeños. Or garlic. Or whatever is your favorite.

It should say on the packaging but between 20 - 30% would be my guess.

    Cool thread!
I'm often amazed by the yield of my tomato plants too. Cherry tomatos are particularly amazing. I once accidentally kicked a pot holding a fruiting plant on the porch and it kept rocking back and forth like a perpetual motion machine under it's heavy load!

My favorite things to do with the excess is make chutney (pay attention to the levels of sugar and vinegar - trust me, you can only balance with the other so far to fix errors) and of course keep in the good books of neighbors by handing a bag of fresh fruit over the fence when you hear/see them in their yard.

As for random recipes, I tried Jamie Oliver's leg of lamb roast last week and highly recommend. It involved placing the meat straight on an oven rack with juices dripping onto a pan of roasting veges below. Yum!

Note: I didn't make the mint sauce but instead reduced the leftover pan juices in the pan over the hobb with a chunk of butter, glug of red wine, a cup of chicken stock, and a little cornflour to thicken. So good!

My Aunt just sent me some chocolate from Belgium. Ohhhh my goodness. Very good. Best I've ever had.

(Edit) It came in all melted. Lol. But I stuck it in the freezer for a while. Dang gone, that's some good stuff. I would've like to know what they were supposed to look like though. :)

Life is indeed good. Went to the bar this morning got Sunday breakfast. Cornbeef hash, 2 eggs, toast, and grits. Drank some hot tea, and a vodka orange juice, and pineapple.

Here’s a retrospective view on last weekend’s food and drink.

Classic Lasagna: Made a tomato sauce with lots of browned ground meat, garlic, onions, basil and oregano, and also a sauce Béchamel with flour, butter, milk, nutmeg and quite a bit grated parmesan. Then layered everything with lasagna pasta into a casserole (pasta-tomato-béchamel) and top it with buffalo mozzarella and more parmesan. Into the oven, then out and onto the plate – voila!

    Lasagne_02.jpg

    Lasagne_03.jpg

In the evening, a tasting of different brews was done:

Twisted Thistle IPA (Belhaven Brewery, Scotland): Dark golden body, smelled like citrus grapefruit hops, tasted bold, bitter and juicy. I had better India Pale Ales in the past. This was a medico experience for me at best.
    beers_01.jpg

Scottish Oat Stout (Belhaven Brewery, Scotland): Very dark body, Smelled like dark chocolate and something roasted, a rich body with the taste of chocolate and coffee with a sweet note. I liked it very much – the winner of that evening.
    beers_02.jpg

Baltic Tripel (Island Brewery Rügen, Germany): Light golden body, smell of Lemon, yeast, citrus. Taste a bit sweet, fruity with lemon and tones of coriander. A creamy and smooth consistence. Winner of the second evening.
