Yup, he makes everything fresh... after watching some of his video's, I stopped bothering putting my hat back on... ;)

Yeah, me too! He even has a leather holster with wetstone for it... :(

Man, I wish I was able to cook in an enviroment like that, in such a kitchen... with such tools... with these ingredients...

*runs away sobbing softly* ... "Mommy..." ... *snif*

Last night, I made a roast London broil with potatoes, carrots, ect. I ate a little. Made stew today. Since everything was already cooked, easy peasy.

First I cubed the roast, and chopped fresh onion. Added it to 2 cartons of beef broth. Added crushed garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. And just boil it for an hour.

Then added pre cooked carrots and potatoes. Then I added Bisquick to thicken the stock into a gravy. It doesnt clump like regular flour.
    BOOM! Done Deal.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of visiting the yearly small beer culture festival in the town I’m living in. There about 14 breweries from Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands presented all kinds of interesting brews on tap or from the bottle.

    beer_00.jpg

The weather was cool but dry, so I got the chance to do a bit of tasting with a friend. As starters, we tried two beers from a brewery 10 km down the road from here, and we found them very delicious.

(from left to right) Emsländer India Pale Ale, fruity and bitter with a dry finish – and Emsländer Anselm Mandarina, citrus fruits (tangerine) and a rounded up flavor. Well done!

For dinner, I tried the Burger (two times to be sure): Dry aged medium rare beef in a broich-lye bun with wild herb salad, sweet beef tomato salsa and Irish Cheddar. That one was accompanied by a Lager beer and a Pils (Trainingslager and Bervely Pils). Both had nothing to do with the musty, dusty image of both brew types. They were fresh, fruity with a bitter Pils and a smooth Lager.

Then darker tones were in order: The Mahoni Marina BBQ Brown Ale and a Rebel Unchained Rasberry Milk Stout. To make it short: the brown ale was the least good of that evening, the Stout was OK but not superb.

Next up but without image were a Pumpernickel-Porter (again a dark one), and a Quite Storm Honey Beer (with lime-tree blossoms). Both were quite good, for the first one (that really had a roasted and a bread like aroma), I wished to have fried eggs and smokes ham as those would have matched together perfectly.

Then came more light stuff: A Golden Jail Ale (malty, hop and flowery) Don Limone, a Pils brewed with Citra hop wish tasted fresh and fruity. Both very well done!

After making another road stop at the local brewery from the beginning with a buckwheat brew (very smooth, creamy with banana flavors), we were going for a Uncel Albert rye brew (nice and fresh sourness!) and a Uncle Claus Fireplace triple.
    beer_07.jpg

The finishing round was marked by a New Zealand Pale Ale and a New England Pale Ale, both very well balanced, with fruity notes, very little bitterness, very rounded up and pleasant to the taste. Truly the winner of that evening (in the middle the light golden Uncle Albert).

If the wine is good & you enjoy it then it doesn't matter what it is. the other day I had a lovely Muscadet Sur Lie with my steak because A) it was lunch & I needed something light B) I find when eating out you can get better value with White then Red.

Quite right Quality not Quantity is how I like my wine.
It should be OK on the outside & be perfect for carving but Iam not sure it will be any good for making soup as the inside but not be to healthy.
