Based on the start I wasn't expecting much from this episode, but there's a lot of good stuff here. Kaz is broke and needs credits so he's attracted to the bounty on two lost kids. It turns out the kids are being hunted by the First Order and barely survived an attack to their village by Kylo Ren.

We don't learn much about Tehar other than it's probably in the Unknown Regions and we don't know why their village was attacked. The kids carry a symbol that I'm sure we'll learn more about in the future. There's a couple of nice cameos here and again there's some new characters introduced I really like.

I think I'm digging this more than the early stuff in Rebels. There's a lot more unknown about this era and there's a lot of room for growth.

It makes me so curious about what is on Tehar that the FO wants so badly... Since Poe was unavailable because he was "on a mission," was he searching for info on Luke there and Kylo Ren got wind of it?

Somebody (like Yeager) just needs to give Kaz mechanic lessons already. Throwing tools at him solves nothing!!

Some burning questions from this issue:

    • Can any old FO officer get one of those cool bat shuttles?
    • A sack of herbs fixes a broken leg?
    • How did the cargo ship the kids got on get to the Colossus? (Did they steal it and fly it since they were the only ones who escaped? Or did a droid steal the freighter?)
    • Why would you walk casually through the market in plain sight when you have a price on your head? :p
    • How DOES BB-8 get back up the stairs? (bb-8)
    • Captain Doza doesn't care if the kids live or die? (What kind of parent is he?!) What does he know about the symbol?
    • When is Kaz going to realize the FO mole is Matt the radar technician? I'm sure he's there somewhere... :D

Probably my favorite episode so far. For a show that I had low expectations for, I’m invested in it. One or two episodes have been duds, but the rest of the show has been pretty solid. I find some of the humor to be a bit childish and I am definitely looking forward to seeing Kaz mature, especially with the events of TFA and TLJ just on the horizon. This episode in particular was probably my favorite so far and I’m interested to see how some of these plot threads and mysteries will carry out. What mission was Poe doing? What is the significance of Tahar? What is going on with Doza and the First Order? How long until Kaz’s cover is blown?

Watched the episode last night. I really enjoyed it. It might be the best episode so far (great follow-up from last week, good moments from Kaz and Neeku, tangible threat, GREAT new alien species) I think I liked last week's a little better. The humor sat with me more. Either way, I'm liking the increase in First Order activity and actual espionage.

Definitely my favorite episode so far. I did like aspects of the previous episode, too, and am glad the show is finally getting somewhere.

Loved the new species, even if the allusions to the sloths in Zootopia was a little too obvious.

this low-key depressed me. i know other people were excited to get the name-drop, but i just sighed and thought: well, now we have canon evidence that Ben is terrible. XD

i'll take a stab at these!
    • apparently. but maybe only if you're extra shiny!
    • hahaha ~ i thought this too. i feel like there was some beat missing here where we discover that the kids are special in some weird way and interact with the herbs al la the Force or somesuch. but nothing happened.
    • droid totally stole the freighter. XD
    • the size of the Colossus confuses me. it really doesn't seem big enough to go unnoticed, i agree.
    • jetpack!
    • he's playing the bad guy, but probably not really one. he's clearly just trying to keep the FO from harassing and destroying his outpost.
    • i'm really surprised Matt hasn't turned up somewhere in the EU, even as a joke. ha!
there's a fundamental flaw in the logic of the overall narrative: twice now the FO has pursued Kaz and both times they've given up on actually apprehending him. i don't think it's a fatal flaw, but at some point they're going to have to address why the FO keeps letting him get away (this is a military that's pursuing Luke to the destruction of whole villages, etc.). it's an easy fix; i just wonder if they will ever address it.

but otherwise, this was a great episode! i liked the weird children and Doza and the turtle people. : D

Well, it's pretty much just a repeat of the Jakku village, complete with people mysteriously getting away from Kylo Ren, who never can quite master the ultimate villain thing... ;)

Doza made me mad this episode because of those kids. He sold them out--please don't tell me that he believed Phasma's tale, because he doesn't strike me as unintelligent--and surely knew they were going to be killed unless he directly intervened.

I guess the herbs were for the fever? Maybe? But Kaz even says she needs a bio-cast. The kids are going to be recurring characters, so maybe we'll hear more about their Force-healing abilities later on. :D

    hahaha ~ true!

i agree, it's cowardly at best, but I can also see him thinking about his own daughter and how that might push him to so some morally questionable things.

    there's definitely more to them ~ we'll see! : D

In the timeline, how close is Resistance to 7? Tinfoil hat time: is it possible the location was the rain shot in TFA? I'd love more Kylo Ren stuff. I wasn't expecting the show to ever go that 'dark' or Kylo Ren for that matter.

The show begins six months before TFA. (I'm not sure how much time has passed since the beginning of the series, so I guess it's possible it could even be five months from TFA by now, the sixth episode...)

I was thinking the same thing!!! I like how Kylo Ren was depicted as a monster/Dark Sith Lord on an obvious evil path. This is like the second village ( Jakku was really the second) or people he has obliterated! Hilter in disguise! He doesn't deserve Rey. I hope Finn gets her in the end. Good friends make great lovers. hehe...

The reference to the 6 months that was in the webpage code was removed, so it may or may not be an accurate time frame.

Hmm, I didn't know that. Weird that TPTB would release it to news outlets (like Syfy) and then change their minds. Maybe they are giving themselves more room for episodes before the events that we know happen in TFA--like the destruction of Hosnian Prime, where Kaz's family lives....

Waiting for 1080p to "show up" keeps paying off, because the show looks really good. It's also becoming more and more interesting, as the First Order plotline keeps developing. Kaz looks better too and they managed to keep the goofiness, while making it far less distracting. So, all is left now to get the promised races and (more) fighter piloting and we are good to go.

I wonder what captain would do when the FO would really start pushing him. He seems to be a decent enough person, since he did sell Kaz out (yet) and Phasma had to lie to him about the children.
Plus, I wonder if they'll manage to get Adam Driver for the inevitable Kylo Ren cameo. I would be awesome if they do.

I can't wait to see what happens when the action in Resistance starts to coincide with TFA. I hope it's soon, but the anticipation is kind of fun too.

Haven’t been on in a while and just watched this episode today. I wasn’t expecting a lot, but it was actually really good. The Kylo Ren namedrop was great. Makes him seem more mysterious and bada** than his tool of a character ends up being. And I’m not saying the the Chalidae are the coolest species ever but...yeah I am. Commander Pyre is great too. I’ve always liked special classes of troopers. Gold armor looks good.

@Choose Light @Angelman. Cheers, Kudos and Gracias! I'm glad I took your advice and gave this another shot. With this episode, I'm invested in the story. I can handle the cheese and Zoinks! of it all for a good story. Besides, a character named Yeager is a great shot to my childhood feels!
