"You must reunite it with its own kind."

In the official 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 trailer we learn about Din Djarin's quest- he has to find out where the Child's (Baby Yoda) people are from.

So, we will finally learn more about Yoda's species and their home planet. What do you think will this place look like?

I hope they don't make a swamp world their home just because Yoda hid on Dagobah in TESB.

IMO this would ruin the whole use of Dagobah. Unfortunately it was already hinted in the first season that a swamp world could actually be the home world of Baby Yoda. Mainly because he tired to eat a frog and frogs like to live in swamps.

Personally I would like to have the home world to look like Felucia => completely different compared to Dagobah.

Or it's a place with a lot of mountains to climb. The Yoda species has claws, maybe they use it to climb mountains (like Mountain Goats).

    But what do you think?

I really hope the intent of the story is that Baby will be given to the Jedi, not Mando trying to find the homeworld, mostly because yes, I think there's a big chance they'll screw it up by making the homeworld Dagobah 2.0

I would prefer the homeworld to be like the Outback of Australia mostly because the Yoda species having Ph
ysical Characteristics of the Koala bears. So imo that would make a lot of sense and it would be something new and fresh.

Hopefully they won't just make it a Yoda planet with a giant yoda city filled with advanced yodas. Basing on how Yoda eats insects, and the Child has eaten bone broth, insects, and frogs, we can assume they are carnivorous. Due to the long juvenile period of their species, they may have to resort to primitive hunting methods. Also, all three known members of the species are strong with the force, so this may be common among their species. Yoda could only jump around with the force though, and assuming normally, the species does not have the force, their legs would not be sufficient to catch faster prey on a consistent basis. Due to their claws, they could climb trees, and with their enhanced hearing(what else are the giant ears for?) they are mostly likely ambush predators, hiding in trees and jumping down on their prey. Or they could be omnivores. Either way, Felucia makes the most sense biologically, but i think they will put them on Dagobah.

I firmly hope that the whole mystery that surrounds Yoda's specie from the beginning of the SW saga, will continue.
I think it's a good thing that, since now 40 years, we still do not even know the name of the specie, and basically know nothing about them. This opens the door to all expectations and hopes.

    They look so similar!
    IMG_20200916_103455.jpg

It would really ruin Yoda's sacrifice => living on a sh!ty planet to punish his failure.

For me there is a big story risk the more we learn about Yoda's species, sometimes I'm ok not knowing certain details. But if handled well it could be a nice addition to the lore.

Yeah.. I'm firmly in the "let's just leave it a mystery" camp.

Or what is increasingly becoming the "can we at least have SOME things left as a mystery, please?" camp.

As well as the "Do we really need to be told the backstory and background to everybody and everything?" camp.

    I might get badges made.

I'm hoping there is no "Yoda home world". I'm hoping this species is just born randomly, on random planets, and in pods. No parents.

I agree with some comments above. Seeing Yoda’s home world would be neat, but it would take away the mystery and mystique of it all.

I think it would be far more interesting if Mando and the Child go on adventures and find random Yoda creatures on various planets, each one providing a different clue about something. Yoda’s species seemed more nomadic anyways (hence the reason why Yoda would hide at Dagobah and not his own planet... though there was also a Qui Gon reason for that too...)

Landscape of Yodas "homeplanet".. hmm. . Maybe sthg like the Japanese mountain area.
BUT maybe they found out, it has been destroyed by whatever, for ex. a natural desaster and just a view managed to escape because of their force talents. That could keep the mystery around his kind.

Me too, and I think although the Child comes off like an innocent baby, it's more like silent observer, strong with the force. It's like Rey in TFA, the child needs someone who can show it the way of the force and not be reunited with his familiy.

I think @NinjaRen just meant the fact we see the little Yoda type thing eating frogs perhaps suggests he comes from a world where there are a lot of frogs to eat.

They could go almost anywhere with this. I took season one as to imply Mando had to either 1) find the Jedi, or 2) find Yoda's home world. Since Mando has no real knowledge of what the force is he must first overcome that hurdle. I mean he could find the sith worshipers first and drop him off there. There is only one Jedi, that's Luke. If Baby Yoda is left with Luke, then he dies at Lukes temple. Luke hasn't formed the temple yet though. We need Ashoka because she can answer basic questions about the force for Mando. My guess is either Ashoka will use the force to contact Yoda, or she will end season 2 telling Mando to find Luke. Then Luke will contact Yoda. The result of this, is that because Baby Yoda is now a foundling, he will be trained as both a Mandalorian and as a force user.

What if the child was from that planet of Force Priestesses where Yoda goes to in the Clone Wars? That would be neat, but I'm not sure they'll go for that.

I was picking up on someone suggesting The Child was an observer for the Force or such....

Seeing as how there was a massive purge of Jedi, here's no way, as a Jedi, would l tell one and all where all the living Jedi are. Number 1, all surviving Jedi would be scattered so far under the radar they could only be picked off one by one. So Mando has a real tough problem on his hands. I suggest Yoda Species world would be so far Back of the Beyond it's not on any maps, nor in current memory. OR, so up there in your face, they are hidden in plain sight. Besides, Yoda species is not the only species harboring Jedi potentials. We have Six chapters left this season to get us closer. Hopefully we'll have many other seasons to get closer to YodaHome and great episodes to enjoy. Good job, Dave, Jon and all othesr for all the hard work and the creative minds.

Knowing all about Babyoda? I prefer a lot of it remain a mystery. Get Babyoda close to a Jedi for training? Yes, he's stagnated long enough. He's in limbo right now. And entities that have the power he has, need to be trained or they are a menace to society and themselves.
