I'm sure some people around here are old enough to remember Dallas - the greatest drama series ever.

In the last episode of season 8 Bobby Ewing is killed by Katherine Wentworth. The details are not that important, but fan favorite Bobby is killed off and Dallas continues for another year. Then in the cliffhanger of season 9 Pam Ewing wakes up and finds his long dead husband Bobby in the shower, saying "good morning". Pam was dreaming the whole season!

Now picture the opening of The last jedi, when Finn is in the respirator. I have a feeling episode IX may start with Finn waking up and saying "OMG, what I nightmare!!!". Then Poe enters the scene and says "Hey buddy - seems like you're ready to kick some first order butt!!!"

This way the resistance could still be alive and strong, and everything in TLJ that upsets most of the fans (except me) could be written in another way.

A similar theme is explored in Femme Fatale by Brian De Palma, BTW.

Most of the fans like TLJ though? Why who they do that?

I think this would just keep the fan base divided. Many of those who enjoyed TLJ would be upset. Those who were upset with TLJ might be satisfied with the changes; and because you would end up retelling the 2nd part of the trilogy, it would be tough to bring the trilogy to a satisfying conclusion. This could rub a lot of fans the wrong way.

I guess someone has seen the latest "leak" from 4chan ;D

    http://boards.4channel.org/tv/thread/109174134

"Kylo is beating the fu** out of Rey, Rey appeals to his emotions, catches him slipping (literally) and gains the upper hand. He surrenders, she can end him but doesn’t.
Their environment fades away and they find themselves in another realm, the ghosts of Yoda and Obi Wan waiting for them.
Obi Wan explains they have overcome their spiritual battle and become one with the force. Where Kylo’s Ren and Rey once stood ANAKIN Maclunkey SKYWALKER IS NOW.
Yoda congratulates Anakin on finding balance and light within himself, and Obi Wan says someone is waiting to see them.
They fade away and reappear on Endor and look on fondly as the Rebels celebrate on Endor and Luke smiles at the three.

    The end."

Please no! If they redo TLJ or even the whole ST, then I would be really mad. Because everything would have been just a waste of time.

Exactly . The whole thing a waste of time and negating the sequel trilogy completely . This sounds like a post from someone who really hates the direction of the sequel trilogy and wants to tear it all up and throw it away like a bad dream . Well it ain’t going to happen. Star Wars is for kids too ( lest we forget lol) and this is a convoluted, mind boggling plot :confused:that would have most of the audience going what ????!!! I give the writers of Star Wars more credit than this . You could do something like this in the comics or books ( exploring it like a vision )or even an episode of an animated series but an entire trilogy ??? I don’t think so .:p

Well FIRST of all @Bradford Tyllestad you're dating yourself even KNOWING about that show, because I watched it every week....because my mom loved it, and it seems like a million years ago...and it was. :) :)

Moving on from there; In as much as I've held on to the belief that Luke really isn't dead, your scenario would only accomplish three things:

    1. Infuriate people that loved the movie that they made.
    2. Have been a TOTAL waste of time for those that labored over the entire process
    3. None of it would be canon...three hours of a dream that people waited two years to see.

Big fat waste of time that generally would serve no purpose in a canon saga storyline.

    Nah...just cant imagine it.

Oohhhh YES ! Exactly this, and then, directly jump to a one hour and half lightsaber fight and in the end BroomBoy wins.

Honestly I read that after I came up with the idea above. I had a similar idea way before the plot of TFA leaked and posted it on theforce.net at the time. I had this idea of Luke waking up in the snow after the ESB-scene where Obi tells him to seek out Yoda. Ep 7 and the ST could pick up directly after that and have CGI-versions of young Luke/Han/Leia. The people at TFN hated the idea. Kind of ironic that LF went on doing it in Rouge 1.

I don’t think ideas like this would make the existing movies obsolet or wasted film. The last third in particular of TLJ has a dreamish feeling and on the contrary I believe such reveals and twists would embellish the artistic quality of TLJ, a movie that I personally hold as the best in the saga BTW.

I disagree on pretty much everything you wrote above, but your mom seems ok.

If this happened, I would seriously consider walking out of the theater.

Remember the Family Guy episode "Lois Kills Stewie"? At the end they talk about how things like that are a "middle finger" to the audience.

And this is coming from someone who disagrees with the direction of the ST.

I would laugh my butt off. It would be the ultimate "We're sorry. We messed up. We want your money, please.". I will be upfront; I do not care for the ST and have grown apathetic towards the new SWs stuff. it is that reason why I haven't frequented this place as of late. Though, a small positive is that I've rediscovered Legends and am enjoying the Thrawn Trilogy. The definitive ST as far as I am concerned.

But if Episode Nine is, in fact, The Justice League of the franchise to where they retcon/ course correct they will admit that the damage has happened. And they will have pissed off a majority of TLJ defenders. All of this crap could have been avoided had Rian Johnson, JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy planned this entire trilogy.

Such a simple idea but ultimately missed and neglected. Such a shame. Overall, whatever happens with the ST I really do not care. I treat these new movies like fan-fiction: bad what ifs.

SWs for me continued with the Thrawn Trilogy and that is it. If people genuinely enjoy these movies, fine. But you can't deny that some massive damage has been done to the brand. That people are more divided than ever before. That entire YouTube channels, like MauLer, have sprung up from such results.

Oh well. May the Force me with you all. I hope that after the ST, SWs can mend the divide that exists. Or just fade away and we can get some good games, comics etc. I wouldn't mind that.
