I’m not sure if I understand what you mean by “Kylo not being able to kill Rey”. For me there is no doubt that Kylo is physically superior and has more force powers than Rey. He could overcome Rey if he wanted. What is stopping him is his compassion and remorse not allowing him channelling evil in a procedural way. Maybe that’s what you mean when you say that Kylo needs to beat Rey: he needs to overcome his love for her. But think about it, if Kylo finally reached the ruthless and callous state of mind proper of an assassin and was able to overcome his compassion and kill Rey, him letting Rey live would be something completely whimsical and aleatory rather than redemptory.

I just feel Kylo’s coming to Jesus, as you call it, will be different, more positive than “not killing”, more like “saving” or “rescuing”. I also think that his compassion for someone/some other than Rey will make his redemption resonate more and may even “win” him his survival as a character, which is the outcome I prefer.

As for the possession thing, i know it’s a rumour but I’m not a fan of it..I would have to see how it’s played out though. It just seems a bit weird for a SW saga film.

@Kylocity, Kylo refused the offer of redemption by Han in TFA. He refused the offer of redemption by Rey in TLJ. He doesn't need an offer, he has to do it alone. This is what most people don't understand about Kylo's journey as a character. Yes, Rey is still needed nonetheless.

Kylo beats Rey and is able to strike her down. Only then he realise his path. It's set up from the very beginnging.

Yeah, it's sounds like Star Trek to me. But it makes sense. Kylo beats Rey, but he doesn't kill her. => Palaptine takes over to end it, but obviously will fail.

The way I see it, Kylo needs an opportunity to do the right thing. Not an offer, but rather a situation in which he is compelled to do good, and he will do it because Rey will remind him of the purity of purpose he once himself had, a bit like Rochester did under the influence of Jane Eyre, believing that “she would regenerate him with a vengeance.”

I don’t know. It doesn’t feel very elegant... but sure, they could do something like the syncing of bodies of the holo girl and the call girl in blade runner 2049 ;)

Possession in Star Wars is kinda weird and all, but it’s not like it’s anything new. I mean we’ve seen it in The Clone Wars:

    Rebels:

The Screaming Citadel crossover between the Star Wars and Doctor Aphra comics:

The example that’s most likely a better comparison with Palpatine would be Lord Momin from Soule’s Lando and Darth Vader comics:

With how frequently it’s happened in canon, it was inevitable that it’d work it’s way into one of the movies at some point. With how powerful Palpatine is, I wouldn’t be surprised to see his dark spirit corrupt and take over another individual’s body. Better watch out Kylo!

If you kill Chewie, you remove the most marketable anthropomorphic character left from the OT.

3-Peo could go. Daniels seemed to know he was done...buts that’s cruel..

I just think the droids should take a bow and retire, but love. I’m still convinced the end is R2 telling the story to the Guardians of the Whills or whatever. I think it’s such a cool idea that 200 years later, he’s recounting it all, and the last shot is a tableau that melts your mind.

Leia and Like must have some sort of closure. Like already died so they can’t go there again.

Maybe we see all the heroes of the ST pass on into memory.

That’s the last shot, they live forever as legends like Luke and Obi-Wan and Solo

Yeah, as far as I’m concerned, R2-D2 must survive, he’s ‘Horatio’. Anyone (or even everyone!) else could die and I’d probably accept it.

But in terms of what I think will happen, from the list I will guess Kylo, Leia, Lando, Hux will be dead by the end of the film. I’d like Chewie and the droids to survive, and I don’t see them killing off the three lead heroes in case they want to bring them back for more films later.

Well I already mentioned this, but couldn’t she just disappear?

I know Leia isn’t exactly a Jedi, but since she already used the Force in TLJ, the line has already been blurred. (Actually, she used the Force a little bit in ROTJ - she can feel that Luke is alive after the Death Star II blows up.)

I think Kylo and Rey will sacrifice their Force powers to send pregnant Rey/Shmi back in time to keep their son and chosen one Anakin away from ST Darth Sideous..

Anakin is they key for ST Darth Sidious to gan immortality. PT and OT Palpatine don’t see this future. This will trap Darth Sidious in what ever artifact he is attached too forever.
