The Dice

Probably something to do with Treverrow for all we know. With JJ taking over it may mean nothing. Who knows? Its up there with Broom Boi, its wide open for debate.

 

Dice were a part of Luke's projection. Since he passed away, the projection ended.

 

It doesn't really matter who took them away from him. It's more of a symbolism that Kylo Ren was successful with destroying his past. With the dice Ben Solo disappeared too. Now Kylo Ren needs to face everything by himself. He doesn't seem happy about it.

But Leia left the dice for a reason. She probably knew Kylo would find them. It shall remind him of his father.

True. I just want to note that the dice were visible after Luke was dead. Did they just linger after his death...or is it possible Leia continued the projection? Just throwing that possibility into the ring.

 

Which leads me to the "nobody is trully ever gone". I think Luke means Han not Ben.

 

Interesting. I never thouthg about the possibility of Leia continuing the projection, cool to think like that too.
In my opinion the dice its still visible for Kylo after Luke's death for an emotional purpose.

it's a general all-purpose "don't lose hope".
she is grieving Han, so he is comforting her in that.
she is giving up on her son and he's telling her not to.
he is apologizing to her for having been gone.
and he is warning her for what's about to happen, so that she understands it has purpose.

as for the disappearing, i have a different take than @NinjaRen: it's not that Ben Solo is lost, it's that he's being reminded of what he can't have until/unless he lets go of his narrowness and his pride. despite his total meltdown when confronting Luke (he needed to get that out of his system), he's learning the true extent of the consequences of his actions.

 

The DICE was to signify what @LadyMusashi said above. ie a "friendly reminder"

However, J.J Abrams may follow ROTJ as far as Ben, leading the audience to think he is coming back at the end when he actually doesn't. That will be the thing with E9.

 

I didn't say Ben Solo is lost. Read more carefully!

 

you said he disappeared. but that's him looking up at Rey in that final moment, not Kylo Ren.

You know that's before the dice disappears, right? Rey closes the door and the dice disappears. Symbolism at its finest.

 

Ben, Ren, hier of Vader or what ever the heck he'll go by in 9, one thing is 4 sure. He's a ded man.

 

Dices represent odds:


"Great shot kid, that was one in a million"

In TLJ Luke is coming back, to save resistance in desperate hour, just like on Death Star when he made"One in a million"shot said by Han.

Those dices dissapearing from the hands of Kylo Ren represent :

"Kylo have spent all his chances to became good".

 

Ben will always have the opportunity to choose the light. that door is never closed... much as the dark side is always an option for any person in the galaxy.

both doors will always be there.. and always open.

i watch that scene with Ben holding the dice, and i can hear Han..
"make your own luck kid"
