I just wish we would have had more time with him as Ben Solo with Rey to allow for more weight. It's a good moment and Ben sacrificing himself for Rey is the right play, it's just with everything else going on, I wish it had time to breathe

It was fine as is. Yes, maybe Ben a bit longer, but it works for me.

Was not a fan. However, since they were supplying fan service for just about every aspect of the trilogy and pivoting from less popular outcomes from TLJ, I knew it was forthcoming. Kylo fully commits to the darkside in striking down Snoke in TLJ (which I thought was a mistake also but, it's what happened). Having him pull back from the edge because Leia reaches out to him (dooming herself in the process) carries weight that is only really felt by legacy fans (IMO) but it still has a manufactured feel to it (a lot of TRoS developments do, not just the ones surrounding Kylo so there's that).

I am glad they didn't rehash the Throne Room fight, but I would have liked to have seen Ben fight the KoR as fellow Force Users with Energy weapons; they didn't look formidable they way he dispatched them. Out of all the time and resources and fight choreography, I would have poured it all right here. This is the last time we're going to see Ben, let him go out showing us something we've never seen before. Like he fights with one LS, and controls another with the Force to defeat the KoR. That was a moment I would've liked to see and think Ben could have had a signature moment.

I would have prefered Rey AND Ben living, together.

But I also had the idea of Rey dying and Kylo trying to save her, but he fails. So, he decides to finish what she started => rebuilding the Jedi. The ending is basically the same, but with Ben. Really bitter sweet if you ask me.

I go back and forth on this.
I think if either died, it had to be Ben. He couldn't go back, without Rey and convince people to not, ya know, murder or imprison him for life because he's sort of a war criminal responsible for billions of deaths.
Both dying would have been a gut punch and a legitimate "end".

Now living together presents a unique opportunity.
Rey becomes the public face while Ben has to stay in the shadows doing good without being seen (a new mask? ew but you get my point).
But I suspect Driver saw Harrison's situation and got ahead of that and had a 3 movie deal or something...

So much for that super great “dyad” that was only important for about 10 seconds :)

I would not change that ending. Sure, you could've had Ben live but the ending would lose so much in the exchange. For example, Kylo Ren was wanting to give death to the Jedi - but in TROS he is giving life to the Jedi. That which he was trying to destroy, he gives that his very life so it may continue. The life of the Jedi to be is the very life of Ben Solo. That's embodied in Rey, as well, obviously. That's a heavy gift and if he simply keeps on living - the gravity of the gift is tremendously undercut.

You have Ben live it also undermines the gravitas of Rey being a Skywalker. The Skywalker family gave everything in order to bring balance to the force and restore liberty to the galaxy (even to Palpatine!). Rey herself being THE Skywalker to emerge from that story of the Skywalkers is massively undermined if Ben is still alive at the end. Rey is THE culmination of the Skywalker legacy - she is the output.

There's so many things going on here that to change anything is ... well, it's like seeing a toddler waving a paintbrush, paint flying and splotting the ground - as he wobbles toward the Mona Lisa shouting "Me do good paint, too!" it's horrifying.
