I got the impression he knew he was hunting his son in ESB, but was being coy with the Emperor on what exactly he knew. It should be a common name to a point though, it's a big galaxy.

In general, Vader's repeated ignorance of Luke always was a screwed up part for me.
I just chose to ignore it.

    Cheers,

Yoda's whole attitude and approach to Luke's training being at odds with the "when the time is right" promise in ROTS which mitigates his and Obi-Wan's 19 year time-out.

For me, PT Yoda to OT Yoda was a knee jerk experience like how people are now talking about ST Luke to OT Luke. To me, the shift of Luke is big, but believable (I've know guilty and crushed idealists), whereas Yoda...it just didn't make any damn sense to me.

I just don't think about it because the more I do, the less sense PT Yoda makes sense given OT Yoda.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

The difference is nothing happened to Yoda in the period between ROTS and ETSB to affect his outlook or attitude towards things. PT Yoda made a pledge to go into exile only as a practical measure till the time is right. By ETSB he's inexplicably reluctant and skeptical about Luke being trained.

Whether people liked it or not, TLJ went out of its way to explain Luke's dilemma.
