As long as it's done well I'll be happy with whatever. It's the writers who have to scratch their heads and come up with an original take on an unoriginal idea! There;s nothing new in the world, we can only hope for better or ... slighty different? #Rey4theNewRen?

I just want Ben, Ren, what ever that worm calls himself, I just want him DESTROYED!

Are u all 4 geting? HE KILLED HAN! HAN! Not a puppet or latex suit alien. Not a little blonde hair kid who sounded like Tiny Tim. Not even some old hermit we barley knew like we all did back in 77.

    No.

HE KILLED HAN! Kylo must DIE!

do we want to talk about Rian Johnson's sweetheart comment?

even if meant facetiously, it's an interesting choice of words.

Ben is clearly emotionally confused and extremely vulnerable. I definitely think he can be redeemed, though, and to be honest, I really hope he is. From a storytelling perspective, it makes sense for him to be redeemed. However, it's a lot less likely that he'll survive. I can see him being killed in Episode IX in a sacrificial sort of way, the same way his grandfather did (which is the only reason I'm not okay with him dying, because it's inevitably going to be compared to Return of the Jedi). I feel like the fact that he killed Han Solo also increases his chances of death, though; I can totally see Lucasfilm thinking that having Ben die would justify Han's death in a way.

Well, I think Ben's redemption is what would make Han's death meaningful. This is how Han Solo, one of our favourite heroes, could ultimately win.

I voted "He should quietly come home and retire to a life of atonement" - this is my personal optimistic scenario (don't know about "retire" though ;)). I really don't want him to die immediately after redemption. Having a character come back to the light side and live on with the burden of his past is something we haven't seen yet.

while i understand that people think killing Han is an irredeemable act, it seems like honoring Han's wishes (rather than a desire for vengeance/justice--however you want to frame it) is more desirable to me.
also, i just don't see Luke giving up on this kid.
    this is my choice too.
put his talents, his powers, and the wisdom he has gained from this crucible to work for the galaxy in a constructive way.
anything else strikes me as vengeful and wasteful.

Yes, that's a very important angle as well. If Ben is lost and has to be killed this is the seal to Luke's failure. To me that would diminish what Star Wars is about. And, as we know from the teaser, Luke is in a really dark place already and I don't see them push Luke even further down. Well, at least I hope they're not doing that...

We're totally on the same page, FN. ;)

oh absolutely, re: what Star Wars is all about.
i really need the OT heroes to fix their failure here.
and i don't know how else they do that except by saving Ben.

Han already did his part, even if he gave up his life to do it.
but he got there, he told Ben he was wanted back home, and he forgave him.
all of that needs to matter.

    Definitely interesting choice of words!

If he had also used hashtag #DangerousDreamboat in addition he would have crushed it. :p

I call this poster "last but not least" as it was posted last by the director of the movie and with such an interesting comment (calling him a "sweetheart") - All posters were posted one by one in a very organised fashion and some posters were posted by the actors themselves...

Kylo/Ben is so far "advertised" in a very interesting way indeed - anguish, sadness, being torn apart, broken helmet...
"Reverse-Anakin" angle is not even subtle anymore I would say...

Ben is going to be saved and will "go back home". (Maybe that will be apparent sooner than some even hoped...?)

And that makes me very very happy...and very impatient to find out the big twists and turns that make most people see that that is indeed a worthy and very satisfying conclusion of the ST and probably of the saga...

I think Snoke is going to kill Kylo. At this point, he is so far gone to the dark side by killing his father/family member (something even Vader couldn't get himself to do), that the only way I see him getting redeemed is if he sacrifices himself for Rey and is killed by Snoke. This would be the ultimate parallel between himself and Vader, since Vader basically did the same thing.

Maybe. I feel Rey will be the decisive factor in Kylo's outcome one way or another.

    But how about this one?...

"I think Snoke is going to [try to] kill Kylo. At this point, he is so far gone to the dark side by killing his father/family member (something even Vader couldn't get himself to do), that the only way I see him getting redeemed is if [Rey] sacrifices [herself] for [Kylo] and is killed by Snoke. This would be the ultimate [mirroring] between himself and Vader."

Rey's sacrifice becomes the ultimate parallel between herself and Luke, and her death is what spurs Kylo to defeat Snoke and return to the Light.

hahahaha ~ i forgot about Mark Hamill's comment.

we've lost the ridiculous hair in TLJ, it seems, so there's that too.
is it because we're meant to take him more seriously now?
and what does that mean, exactly? : D

I actually miss the "ridiculously"( sic: beautifully coiffed) hair he had in TFA a bit...They toned it down a bit indeed for TLJ...

But Mark has promised us it is still boldly flowing and luxurious, so I'm counting on it to be so indeed...:D

(Mostly) because beautiful dreamy hair of course basically spells redemption. :p Also, it's pretty.

or else Driver just said: enough's enough ~ no more mask, no more long skirt, and no more hair product!
(two things we know he hated and one we can probably assume) ~ hahahaha

I'm unconvinced he objected to the hair. :pI know he objected to the mask and long robes but I doubt he was specifically against the hair...

I mean, this is a man who definitely knows he has great hair and wears it not just for this role...

    tumblr_ot7c7wAUTr1trkc2xo1_540.jpg

I just think Lucasfilm took notice of all the many jokes made about how ridiculously pretty and nearly unrealistically perfect his hair looked in TFA and consciously toned things down a bit. His hair is still pretty, just not unbelievably so...I still wish he had the TFA hair, but I'm not entirely objecting to change...

And after all this silly talk about the young Skywalker's pretty hair, and to bring it back to a bit more serious stuff - who would have imagined that they would market him as young and vulnerable dark prince
    tumblr_ot5eq2Fc451t3n54uo2_540.gif
instead of the completely fallen to the dark side crippled sith monster many talked he will be...

I'm dying to find out what this above scene is...That's basically the only non-static shot of him we got from the BTS (apart from Adam training)...He looks to be reacting surprised to something/someone...
Maybe Hux says something that Kylo is surprised to hear and deep inside hates...

It sort of reminds me a bit of:

dunno! Driver's hair is a mystery to me. he certainly combs it...sometimes ~ hahahaha

i think you're right about toning it down. also, they are under duress now.

i guess i have some speculations about what they were thinking when they cast him in the first place, but we've probably hashed all that before.

if he is with Hux in that room, he certainly seems rather relaxed, actually.
you would think he would have more open hostility in his expression ~ unless he and Hux have actually found some accord (my secret hope perhaps).

it's interesting that he's not guarding his reaction at all. whereas in the hologram throne room scene, he absolutely tries to school his expression.
