I thought we might get new versions of AT-AT's for episode VIII but Rogue One seems to be handling that.!

I'm curious on what new vehicles and different kinds of troopers the FO will show going forward.

What are the orders of succession in The FO?
    --- Double Post Merged, Jul 1, 2016, Original Post Date: Jul 1, 2016 ---
R1's AT-AT's are a predecessor to the ones in ESB so it would be much more highly advanced ones in the new movie .
    --- Double Post Merged, Jul 1, 2016 ---
Also what kind of an economy does the order run ?

Wouldn't hold my breath on that...Star Wars technology is known to advance at snail speed rates, which explains why thousands of years before the Battle of Yavin it was pretty much the same.New looking exteriors are much more likely than advanced features in the AT-ATs in new movies.

I like the First Order, even more than the Galactic Empire. IMO the FO is more effective than the empire. The FO stormtroopers are better shots than the empirial stormtroopers and their designs look way cooler (stormtrooper). In general, the FO seems more agile and more offensive.
I hope the FO will defeat the Resistance in VIII in a really tremendous way. (emperor)
But the FO will probably fall in IX.

Yes in fact there will be a new version of an AT-AT in episode 8. I'll try and get a picture later but if you take a close look at TFA when they're on Starkiller. Look at the snowy field below and you'll see an AT-AT patrolling.

All these things are true, and I'm a massive FO fan, but I still love the Empire. It's hard to match the grandeur and power of Sheev's Empire. It was just classic totalitarianism at it's finest. The FO may look flash, and have exciting tech, but it remains to be seen how it effectively it can dominate and rule the galaxy yet. I look forward to seeing more of that in VIII.

I would like to take a deeper look into the First Order's Stormtrooper conditioning program... we've never really seen that, or any training process. Even a couple quick scenes, similar to what they did in AOTC when Obi-Wan visited Kamino and we got to learn about the cloning process. Or when Phasma says FN-2187 has been sent for reconditioning.. what does that entail? Something like being plugged into the Matrix?? (Cue Keanu... "I know Kung Fu." )

Also, actually seeing them take some children from their families to begin their training... that would be some pretty intense stuff.

Not exactly, the reconditioning is a combination of psychological manipulation and pharmaceutical conditioning designed essentially to brainwash rebellious Individuals.

Word! And I'm so glad they decided to not include that stupid tunnel standoff scene in the movie.

i never thought i would see the day, but i do love the FO more than the Empire. even when i was at the lowest point of my skepticism toward TFA before the premiere, i saw the redesign of the stormtroopers and absolutely fell in love with them.

now if we can only get rid of the fishy-eyed toilet monster running the show....

i don't think they'll win. i'd love to see some kind of balance in the galaxy in which the new republic and the FO come to some kind of terms, but after the Hosnian thing, it feels too far-fetched, alas.

This would be the ultimate twist, bringing "balance" to the galaxy. We need this to happen.

What I find weird is how fast this one showed up in comparison to Sheev's /

I see The First Order winning it....they won episode 7 because of the destruction of Hosnian System.
In episode 4 the empire did not win...because of battles and etc....but TFO did. If Luke falls in 8 do not expect a rebellion victory.
What do you guys think? Soon I am going to post a topic on my status why I think TFO will win....STAY TUNED!

i think the end of TFA had them somewhat evenly matched. the FO destroyed the New Republic's fleet but they lost Starkiller. in terms of sheet numbers the FO is ahead, but in terms of actually military might, i'd say they're more even.

perhaps the FO is a wee bit ahead since they retain their "government" whereas the New Republic has likely lost the majority senate and now will have to rely more on the Resistance.

I think that The First Order and The New Republic are just two sides of the same coin .

It will be interesting to see if they just stay in star destroyers the next film or are they mainly stationed on another planet.
