Okay, this is going to be a bit of off-the-wall speculation by yours truly, so get your tinfoil hat ready.

I am starting to get the impression that this first spin-off is going to be an adaptation of a Legends work. Not a direct, completely-accurate-to-the-original adaptation, mind you, due to way that Disney is trying to sort out canon, but a way of reimagining and refitting old content to fill gaps in the timeline. I think it would be best to compare it to what they've done with The Winter Soldier movie in regards to the Captain America story arc of the same name: the basic story generally visits the same themes, but ultimately goes in another direction.

I first got to thinking this earlier today, when I noticed a leak of a future Lego product, slated to come out sometime next year. This product is not related to Star Wars Rebels, which got me curious.

See those menacing-looking Imperial soldiers there? Those are Shadow Troopers and the Emperor's Shadow Guard. These guys were able to go toe-to-toe with Force users and stand their ground against a lighsaber-wielder. They were in a previous work - and one that was very successful from a financial standpoint.

Yup, that's right - I'm talking about The Force Unleashed. I believe it would make sense to adapt this story with adjustments to the plot (making Galen Marek less overpowered, having the story take place earlier in the continuity), and it could bring lesser-known characters (Bail Organa and Mon Mothma in particular) into the spotlight while also tying the Trilogies together.

Why The Force Unleashed? Because Lucasfilm and its subsidiaries threw a ton of money at the project, and it succeeded greatly. If that idea worked once, and you're working with a clean slate, it could be easy to remake the story and establish how the big names behind the Rebellion got to meeting one another.

While I don't consider this likely, it's a nutty theory I just came up with, and I wanted to throw it out there. I believe it could definitely work as an animated direct-to-video movie, like what Disney has done for certain Marvel animated movies.

    Great theory and thinking!

While I like the idea of the shadow guard and shadow troopers, I loathe the idea of a Direct to Video release of anything Star Wars. IF they intend to make something then go full bore or not at all. IMO that's the only thing wrong with your theory so my tinfoil hat is on.

Oh, and I don't think they should make Starkiller as strong as he was in TFU. Wasn't he able to bring down a Star Destroyer with the Force?!

    Also did you see this???

    http://thefwoosh.com/2014/09/star-wars-black-series-imperial-shadow-squadron-on-ebay

Black Series (current) is producing the shadow squad. This isn't canon . . . yet. Just like Mara Jade isn't canon yet and they still released a Black series figure for her.

Yes, but that was something even he didn't think he could do, and it was one of the hardest parts in the game to reflect that. I believe that that moment would have to be in a potential adaptation nonetheless, given how iconic it is to the story.

Size matters not. Look at me - judge me by my size, do you? And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is.

Yes, but there's a HUGE difference between Yoda and this Starkiller dude. IF he's that powerful he trumps Vader and Luke and Yoda.

But I still liked your post! (yoda)

Not nessecarily, its implied that all the Jedi can do extremely powerful things "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force!". I always thought that it would just be impractical to do stuff like move around Star Destroyers.

If this is a clue that they are adapting something, it could be Dark Forces. The old DOOM clone that first gave us Kyle Katarn and the dark troopers.

But I think it's most likely REBELS merchendice.

I think you have a point, but there are two things about your post that quite don't match up.

Firstly, those guys from Dark Forces were called Dark Troopers, not Shadow Troopers, and those are completely separate things we're talking about (Dark Troopers were Droids/Cyborgs, while Shadow Troopers were just elite Storm Troopers).

Secondly, this is not related to Rebels because it does not have the Rebels logo on it - the other two leaked Lego sets that I brought up had the logo for the show on it front-and-center. Even though it has the Storm Trooper helmet with the Starbird spray-painted on, that's just the logo for all of Hasbro's Star Wars toys as of 2014.

With that said, I would also like to see Kyle Katarn make a comeback - he's probably one of the most popular characters from Legends. Hell, I'd hire Miltos Yerolemou to play the guy since he's a part of the Episode VII family!

I'd like to see a adaption of Darth Vader and the ghost prison. Sounds similar to the new Lords of the sith book coming soon.

As Tward said its called Lords of the Sith :p

Lords of the Sith: Star Wars Hardcover April 28, 2015
    by Paul S. Kemp

When the Emperor and his notorious apprentice, Darth Vader, find themselves stranded in the middle of insurgent action on an inhospitable planet, they must rely on each other, the Force, and their own ruthlessness to prevail.

The Force Unleashed adaptation? Interesting, but nothing should be "unleashed", this is after all the Dark Ages and the stuff Starkiller does is ridiculous for the very grounded nuances of the Force. I think it's possible, but then it would feel out of place as just a stand alone film. I'm still cheering on a Boba Fett and Crew Death Star Heist movie, but we will see :)

I don't think I have ever agreed with anything more! Ghost Prison really tied together the two trilogies and TCW whilst also showcasing Vader's brutality and how unhinged he was. It also gave us a great insight into how the empire worked from the early days and the journey through the ranks. Not to mention awesome characters!

I like the idea of TFU, but as everyone's said it would need adapting somewhat and toning down. It was a great story though and characters like Kota and PROXY deserve to exist somewhere in the new canon!

Is there any reason you couldn't bring down a star destroyer just by taking over the controls from a distance? If you can choke across the galaxy, then perhaps you can move a lever too?
