So I specifically bought a PS3 shortly after it came out because of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Metal Gear Solid 3, and I can comfortably say that it was one of the best decisions I made. MGS aside, SW:TFU was an incredible game - the overall feel of the environments, the lighting, the level concepts and execution, the textures, just everything. The character models were spectacular, the animation was superb, and the storyline was gripping all the way through with Vader's unpredictable behaviour and never quite knowing just how far Starkiller would go to complete his mission. Then there was the sequel; not quite as good as the first, but all the same an amazing game.

There were tie-ins with the Saga - continuation of Order 66, the creation of the Rebel Alliance, the ShadowTroopers, not to mention the overly, excessively powerful use of the Force (and the iconic scene of pulling a Star Destroyer out of orbit!), the massive opponents to battle (multiple Rancors, giant imperial AT-ST type walkers, and the Gorog!)

I can't possibly be the only one out there hoping that there's going to be another sequel?

Is there a possibility that Galen Marek, Juno Eclipse, PROXY or Maris Brood might turn up (even as a cameo) in Rebels, or a spin-off movie? :D

The Wii version of this game sucked so badly.

I so wanted to like this game. I first bought the Wii version, and as tom said it was very bad. Clumsy and just not fun.

As I said I wanted to like the game, so I gave it a 2nd chance and went and bought the Sith Version release for the pc. Again just couldn't get past the controls of the game and I am more comfortable with pc games than platform.

I get the feeling that I am missing out on a good game unfortunately.

It's great on the 360, never played it on the PS3.

In my opinion, the ps2 version was the best.

Come on now, The Force Unleashed 2 was subpar and way too short.

I don't know which version you played, but I picked up the Xbox 360 version of the title. I feel like The Force Unleashed II could have surpassed the original had they put more development time into the game. As soon as I saw the announcement date set so soon, I was excited but worried. I agree that it was too short, but I don't think it was subpar so much as incomplete. Had they put a few more month's worth of work into the game and its story, then it would have greatly improved upon the original. Still, it's a fun title for what it is worth.

Feeling incomplete would register a subpar rating from me for any game. I played on the ps3.

Ok, I know this post is probably not going to endear me to most of you, but: I do not like this game. The graphics were quite impressive, I agree with you there, Raze. What I hate about the game is the story, and especially the character of Galen Marek.
They tried so hard to make him "cool" and "badass" that the end result is just painful. As I've said in the "EP VII villain" thread at some point, giving a new character more spectacular powers than anyone before him is NOT the way to go because it leads your franchise to a point where every other character seems weak by comparison. Galen Marek is the textbook example of a "Power Creep" and all his supposed coolness does not come naturally to him. Likewise, his story arc (if you're willing to call it this) was obviously written in order to appeal to a certain demographic of broody teenagers (the "mainstreamed"-emo kind). Having been a broody teenage around the time these games were released, I can assure you that the whole dark-and-edgy-emo-appeal-thingy was handled incredibly poorly.
Writing a character with the sole intent of making him the coolest and the most badass of all and the most appealing to your target demographic is never going to work out. The end result will always feel "fake". In the end, what we're left to play as is a whiny Gary Stu with ridiculous powers and a rather far-fetched backstory.

tl;dr-version: Good graphics, ok gameplay, didn't like the story and characters.

While I enjoyed playing the 360 version at my buddy's place, I will have to agree with you in terms of the characters and back-story.

So does anyone think that there's the possibility of Galen (or, at least, some derived version of him) turning up in the ST or a spin-off? I realise that his Force powers do completely overshadow every other canon person's in the movies and TV series, so he'd definitely have to be toned down, but there's no reason why pulling a starship out of orbit couldn't have been done by a few Jedi or Sith banding together to even it out a little.... It'd be beautiful to see on the big screen. :D

Galen Marek I'm not too sure about, but I do believe that Sam Witwer will return, based on his awesome performances in The Clone Wars and his general devotion to the franchise.

Is there any story for the events after The Force Unleashed II? It ended with a cliffhanger and I wonder if they resolved it somewhere...

I am probably the only one, who enjoyed the Wii version. Funny thing is, that I also got it on PSP mostly because of the History Missions (and the Cloud City one is awesome!). I liked swinging the wii remote and doing wibbly wobbly stuff with it, tough unfortunately, the PC/XBOX version is superior visually.
I never did play the PC/360 game. Maybe I will buy it on XBOX, because what is funny as that is, Force Unleashed II worked on my PC perfectly, but the first installment was slow and laggy as hell. I think that is because of half-assed and bad import.

I did like the story, visiting some familiar places. Didn't like much the part of Galen being the founder stone of Rebellion.
The part on the Death Star was marvelous and climatic fight with chopping off Vader's armor was fun.

I liked the second game visually, but didn't like the Clone plot point and the open ending leading to the sequel which never came to be because of poor performance, put the final nail in the coffin.

it was a great game. both of them... 2 was a bit lacking in voice work, and some game play. but for the most part they are solid titles id like to see come back soon. what has Disney really done with the rights since acquiring them anyway? nothing notable...Star Wars games have always had quality design. i hope they continue that path. i see it going one of 2 ways... either they come out with a an original expanded universe game that will be considered high quality with an original story.. or they will come out with a shity game based on ep 7 like so many other Disney movies.

then on second thought they are working on a new Kingdom Hearts...star wars/Disney/Final Fantasy anyone?

I feel like they've said that at this time, they're focused on Disney and Pixar properties for III, and that including a lot of content regarding Marvel and Star Wars is unlikely. Still, I think they could work in Darth Vader as a bonus boss of some kind.

Apparently, they have said nothing is off-limits. But still, I wouldn't necessarily bet too much on it considering that they're trying to wrap a major story arc up before jumping into something else.

I think the problem with bringing the series back is that Disney have said that everything from here on out will be fully integrated into the new SW universe, and therefore, if they continue with developing the TFU storyline, it means having to accept that Galen was in fact Vader's secret apprentice, and by what we've all seen having played the games, was way more powerful than Luke in RotJ, and alsmost as powerful as Vader, the fabled Chosen One. It'd probably create some problems for Leland Chee.....

i haven't heard that but i don't doubt it. how disappointing. as far as Galen being more powerful than Luke.. i dont buy it. on the outside it may appear that way, with all his flashy powers. his force abilities is what makes him so fun to play. but they are to flashy for his own good. Luke is much more subtle and more calculated than Galen. he learned to master the force faster than anyone ever did through Yoda's teachings. Do you think any other Jedi could turn the baddest dude in the galaxy good again? long story short.. if it came down to it and a battle between the 2 actually took place and after Yoda's training, my money would be on Luke. this would make a good debate thread but ill try to keep it focused on the topic at hand. lol. at this point Disney would really be loosing out on a fantastic opportunity. the fans love the expanded universe. but as George have proven...it doesn't matter what the fans love. you get what you get and your probably gonna love it either way.
