My love for F1 really started in the early 90's. i watched it before then.. but the sport and it's characters 'grabbed' me in 90, 91 and 92, and i've been a huge fan ever since.

    favorite driver is pretty easy..

Ayrton Senna. died aged 34.. 1994 at the San Marino Grand Prix.

my favorite race was the Monaco GP in 92.. the last few laps seemed to last a lifetime as Nigel Mansell fought to try and get past him, but couldn't.

the battles between Senna/Prost, Senna/Mansell were amazing.. both on and off the track. There was respect between them though
a silly moment perhaps, but one of my favorites..

    as for the current F1..

i'm enjoying it this year a lot more than i have done for a while. Love or hate Lewis Hamilton.. he has a race craft that hasn't been seen since Senna, Prost, Mansell, Schumacher.

i think only mechanical reasons can stop him from winning this years driver's title.

come @Addi Ras.. how do you feel about F1? fav driver etc :)

I got into F1 in the early 90 as well as a driver sennen was amazing but I was too young to enjoy geting to watch some of the older greats as for me it would be Jim Clark & Jackie Stewart & when they raced the sport was absolutely ridiculously dangerous which is why it. Hard to compare drivers from different eras as the cats are so different as are the circuits even the two classic of Montana & Spa are very different now & much safer.
Also my all time favourite circuit is still Spa but Silverstone is still special & of the modern circuits I really want to go to Singapore.

This year is turning into a great season as finally the Mercs have some competition though I stil think Hamilton will get his 4th title but it's going to be close.

Spa is the one i would love to go and watch.. it looks like an incredible weekend that the fans have there. i have always fancied driving over there and doing the 'tent' thing for the weekend.

Singapore under the lights does look pretty damn special though

    I love this thread!

I used to watch F1 before the dark times lol...before the introduction of the silly new rules and silly sounding motors....

My fav racer....Alonso...my favorite season...when he took the title the first time with Renault...as un underdog...
I think he is incredibly tallented...i think he feels the racing and drives mostly instinctually...he is often reckless but bold...at least he was when i watched...and i loved him for it...i think he has more charachter than many of his contemporary colleagues which is a thing i find worthy of respect.

I would love to actually attend a F1 race...and its on my bucket list...for someday...

i think the whole F1 world is waiting for Fernando to get in a car that can compete.

He has more character than all of the drivers.. possibly only Ricciardo that i like as much in that respect.

    same.. someday

Alonso is one of the few who nearly always outperforms his car. He will hopefully get a good car next year.

I have Ben lucky enough to go to the British GP in 2015 & it was a fantastic 5 days we arrived at the campsite on Wednesday evening & left Monday morning as the traffic is absolutely mental over the race weekend the atmosphere was fantastic. I also hope to get to another one next year.

I'm glad the see Alonso stick around. I was scared that he would end up ditching and heading to Indycar. I would have been devastated. Him and Ricciardo are both my favorite drivers. Verstappen also is fun to watch when his car or brain doesn't get in the way. I'm 40 and have been watching F1 since 1989.

a decent race in Malaysia yesterday..

cracking drive from Vettel to go from last to 4th... until he and Lance Stroll had an on-track brain fart after the race had finished and crashed into each other:-
    [IMG]
silly silly boy. likely to cause a 5 grid penalty in Japan next week if that gearbox is broke.
the idiot then decided to take the steering wheel with him instead of putting it back in the car.. not sure if he'll get a penalty for that mind.

contrast that to Hamilton, who didn't put up a fight against Verstappen for the lead of the race.. his head is firmly screwed on to win this years title, whereas Vettel is making silly errors.

big grats to Verstappen.. faultless drive. the kid will be hard to beat if they give him a decent car for 2018.

That was a crazy ending Stroll was just doing whatever every driver does on the slow down lap & Vettle still looks like he is racing going around the outside of him & ends up wrecking his car Iam sure the mechanics are delighted as they Only have a week until Japan which is a fantastic circuit.

& if Red Bull ever get a decent car again then Verstappen is definitely a world champion contender.

yep.. one could say that Stroll could have been more alert to Vettel coming around him, but quite why Vettel was going that fast on the in lap is beyond me.

no penalty for that, and no penalty for the crash he caused at the start in Singapore... the stewards are doing their best to keep him in this years championship lol

Well after his complet brain freeze in Azerbaijan if he was found at fault for anymore incidents then e may have to miss a race which Iam sure they don't really want if that was a first time offence I could easily see them giving out a grid penalty for ether of those last two incidents. & his moaning at Alonso for not geting out of his way in a timely fashion is a definitely a sign that he is beginning to feel a lot of pressure to get another world championship not just for him but also for Ferrari.

i'm not sure i'd believe what they say about the gearbox.. lot of tactics and ninja politics in F1. not sure they'd want Mercedes knowing just yet if they will be getting grid penalties.

that was some hole in the back of his car on sunday lol

as for the news about Kubica.. it's a 'melt my heart' story to possibly see him race again. I only want to see it happen if he's 100% capable of driving the car.. there are a lot of drivers out there that also deserve a seat.. Paul Diresta being one of them.

Your right that was some serious damage to the back of the car & Iam sure they will be taking a spare just in case.

As for Kubica I would love ve to see him back in F1 but the physical demands of a F1 are huge & Iam not sure he will be up to it.

Well if this happen 2019 could get very interesting

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05j20xg

Not sure how credible this is but I can't se Botas staying another year unless he makes a dramatic improvement in his results & with Red Bull going to Honda in 2019 I could see Verstappen wanting to get a competitive car but hey it's still a way off but it's something to look out for.

driver merry-go-round for 2019 is gonna be nuts! lol

If the engine regulation changes that they are talking about come in for 2021.. then i'd wanna be with Red Bull or Mclaren by then.
I personally think that Ferrari will be the car to drive 2019/20, but i think Max's dad has strong ties with Toto @ Mercedes?

it will be interesting to see where the top young drivers just coming through are by 2019 also... Leclerc, Gasly, Oli rowland

Yep the driver merry go round is always fun plus by then Hamilton may have 1 or even 2 extra WC so may retire so there his place as I don't see him leaving to go to another team.
You can also add Ocon to the mix but Gasly is certainly one to watch.
