Well we are into the second week of testing & after last week turning into a bit of a damp squib due to the weather let's hope this weeks goes a lot more smoothly.

As for McLaren to quote Han "Were Fine Everything's Fine".

I tend to ignore times in testing as there are just way to meny variables the mileage is far more important.

Well it the final day of testing & while thing are going well for Ferrari Mercedes & Redbull which isn't really surprising as once again it looks to be a 3 horse race for the construction championship. McLaren fans may want to avoid the updates.

I'm now begging to wonder is this Alsone pushing the car to the limit causing the problems as it was fine yesterday.
& ToroRossa with a Honda engine also seam to be doing just fine with the testing so far?

I reckon so. SV did great mileage yesterday, so FA would have wanted the wick turned up to push really hard.

Renault engine seems same as last year.. it all works nicely when not pushed

Fernando pumped in a run of laps in the 1:17’s right at the end of the test.

reliability is an issue.. but I think our boy has a quick car.

    bring on Melbourne !!!

I hope you're right & the can at least give all the teams except Mercedes Ferrari & RedBull a good run for the best of the rest competition.

Also the Hass & TorroRossa look like they have improved from last year so it almost like we are going to have a 2 tier championship the top 3 fighting for the construction championship as while I still think the Mercedes is the quickest car RB probably have the strongest overall driver line up.

Any way in 2 weeks we will have a much clear idea as the first 2 FP sessions will be over & we will see just how much Mercedes have been holding back on.

ive watched what everyone has done over the 2 weeks.. and I honestly don’t have a clue. some very strange things have happened in Barcelona.

Mercedes not taking the hyper soft tyre.. it will be used in Canada and they won’t have tried it. McLaren did almost no running on the medium or soft tyres.. bizarre.

The Haas looked bloody awful and it clocked some great times today out of nowhere.

Kubica was quicker than both of Williams main drivers.. put him in a damn car Claire !!!

I don't get Mercedes not even taking the Hyper soft tyres even if they just do a couple of hours testing to get a feel for it the only thing that might explain it is that the difference between the Hyper Soft & the Ultra Soft tyres (There are way to meny tyres this year & it just going to get confusing heck even the BBC guys were getting confused & that only testing working out who is on what during a race is going to be a nightmare) isn't all that much & they figure if the get the Ultras to work then they don't need to use the Hypers it's a odd choice but I guess that the Tech Guys at Mercedes know more about this stuff then I do seeing as they seamed to have done quite wel so far.

here's a decent summary of testing..
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/43337930

I have hopes that it will be closer at the front.. but it worries me that the mercs will still have too much ‘grunt’ for everyone else.

I’ll honestly be happy if the whole pack is closer together.. and in particular that nobody is too far off the back and 2-3 seconds a lap slower. a closer pack will affect racing at the front.

I read that this morning before logging comments on to the Cantina.
Yes let's hope the mid field pack is closer to the top 3 & they can maybe put a bit of pressure on them.
That Hass car is certainly interesting though this year it does have the new Ferrari engine not a old speck oneso that might explain some of the performance.

Disappointing to read that Williams don't currently see their car as a solid contender going into the new season. Having followed F1 since I was a kid, I'm still baffled and somewhat downcast that former World Championship winning teams like McLaren and Williams have been consistent mid-fielders with no real sharp-end clout for several years now.

i'm actually positive about what Williams are doing. for the last couple of years with the best engine in F1, they have had a low down force car that simply didnt work on high down force circuits and the thing was like bambi on ice when there was damp/wet conditions.

first thing Paddy Lowe would have said when he walked in was "we need some bloody down force!"

i think they will improve massively as the season goes on.. i think the car looks pretty good.
    fingers crossed !

No kidding oh how the mighty have fallen those 2 teams along with Ferrari were the teams of the 80s. Hopefully they can both turn this around & start to compete at the front end again.

& if we are going to be reminiscing about the GLORY DAYS of F1 then imagine if we could get a team like Tyrrell to compete in F1 again. The fact that they managed to win a F1 championship from a shed is just such a brilliant story of course having Jacky Stewart as a driver is always going to help. Of course they also had some duff cars but at least they alwayhad character.

    https://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/news/a7775/5-most-amazing-tyrrell-race-cars/

Love the idea of having water slowly leak out of your car during the race so you can run it under weight though the ball baring idea does seem a tad dangerous. & that 6 wheeler was probably one of the most outrageous F1 designs .
