Magnussen is so naughty.. I'm beginning to really like him and his antics on track

The stroll incident.. that's a nightmare scenario during qualy. grosjean did well to avoid him. Nobody at fault in my mind there

Really Stroll was on a warm up lap & should have been off the racing line (though his engineer/race manager should have been a bit more aware of what was happening) as Grosjean was on a flying lap then to make matters worse he then did try to get out of the way only to make thing even worse for Grosjean.

On a more positive note damm is Sainz a good driver to qualify 7th in a brand new car that is a driver I will be watching with great interest.

In a couple of years the Renault team may be one of the big teams again & its certainly a step up from TR. so hopefully he will get a string of points finishes this year. I also wonder how much Alonso was encouraging them to go after him as he has good relations with both Sainz & Renault.

Magnussen is definitely developing a significant arrogant streak, while Grosjean wins the award for most whiny driver at pretty much every race now.

As a Ferrari fan since childhood (based on nothing more than saying 'red car' when asked which I liked), it's disappointing to see a failure to deliver when it mattered for yet another season. The situation is made more difficult by the fact that I'm not much of a Vettel fan and still end up supporting him simply for the car he's in... at least Raikonnen's accidentally comedy Finnish demeanour makes the whole thing bearable!

Raikkonen is one hell of a teammate, there's no way Vettel would have pulled second without that defensive play by the Finn, who then lost his own podium spot!

Even as I clicked 'post' they modified the result... but all 4 wheels off track and gaining advantage seems like Mad Max is bang to rights

Yep, Sainz has some skills... obviously inherited from his Dad - I loved watching him in the WRC

It's still tough on him & other cars including the Ferrari have been running wide at other corners & not been penalised.

As it seams it was only the running wide part & not gaining an advantage that he was penalised for.

Stewards decision I guess - and I say that despite being an 'outed' Ferrari fan

    great race.. thoroughly enjoyed that.

Love it when the pit stop strategies are close enough to make things interesting.

The U.S. GP has officially gone on my wish list to visit.. would kill to sit by those fast s's in the first sector.

What a superb show as well.. done F1 the world of good.

Blimey, Max wasn't holding back when he got interviewed post-race... "a stupid decision by stewards" and "I hope the fans see this and don't come next year"

His Dad is getting pretty punchy and vitriolic on Twitter too

Yeah.. dude shouldn't be saying that.

If nobody turns up to watch, then Max don't have a job lol

He was pumped up and angry, but saying that was naughty.

all Charlie Whiting has to do each weekend is say "Nobody exceeds track limits else I'll give penalties".. then they won't do it all weekend and we won't be annoyed because of inconsistencies.

Personally I would have let max have the podium and investigated later on. Dude deserved to be up there for the great race he drove.

That was the main problem the drivers had been exceeding track limits all weekend particularly out of the last corner & the stewards had said nothing & then because it was for a podium (if that had been a lower point position or even out of the points then they would have let it go.) they try & stamp there authority on the race & came out of it looking like kill joys.

Hopefully he will have calmed down a bit by Mexico & give us another great drive.

I should have said @Addi Ras and @Maximus, I run a little Fantasy F1 game during the season for myself and a handful of friends. There used to be 14/15 of us at the start mainly from where I worked at the time, but over the 6yrs I've run it the numbers have dropped to 7 regulars now.

It's cost free and all just for a bit fo fun, but if either of you guys wanted to join then I'd be happy to add you into the group? It's all done via email, running off a simple spreadsheet I built... you just select 2 drivers, a chassis and an engine for each race (based on a budget which is deliberately limited to prevent just purchasing all the top end stuff).

Scoring is simply based on race results - so this season, for drivers 1st place earns 20, second place 19 etc..., then the car components are based on best placed at finish (e.g. If you have a McLaren chassis, you only score for the highest finishing one even if both cars finish). To spice it up there's a couple of bonus points on hand for predicting pole, fastest lap and first retirement, and penalty points for FIA awarded penalties and failing to finish.

The season is split up so that at 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 distance the budget increases and costs are re-rated to allow for driver, chassis and engine performance to date and everyone is mandated to re-purchase their choices... meaning people can't just sit on the selections they've made and gain a huge advantage over everyone if their choices are doing well.

Probably TMI, but the offer is there is you wanted to give it a go - either just for the last few races of this year or from start of 2018 season.
