Call me a cynic but I'll never accept Rey as a Skywalker.

Rey is just Rey " changed at the 11th hour to a " Palpatine to me.

I get that. We go from "you are nothing" and the message of self determination and actuation to "legacy is everything" in the space of one film. It is kind of jarring.

How can this be the case when KOTOR have nothing to do with the family?

It really is. But then again, tros didn't do a good job touching that subject. Like the dialogue between Rey and Palpatine is nothing compared to what Luke goes through in the ot.

I would like for the Skywalker Saga to have now truly ended. I like it, it's complete and whole, and it sits there pretty comfortably as a huge pop-culture milestone.

Now I would like for post-TROS timeline Star Wars to be about someone else. Sure, I would love for the Skywalkers to be reference, making the Saga a big and important event in the timeline history, and it would be pretty cool, IMHO, if we'd come back to the Star Wars universe, say... around 130 ABY, and meet a new set of characters, perhaps including a Force User of the Skywalker Order, or whatever... and for call-back/continuity, there could even be this 100-somethig wise old man who turns out to have started his life as a natural Force User hiding his talents while suffering as a child slave in the racing industry on Canto Bight... I'd be good with that :)

For the record -- apart from Daisy, Adam, John & Co. being smashing great actors -- I don't particularly need to see Rey, Ben, or Finn again. Their story was told and I'd be happy with using new characters instead. (That said, I would certainly not object to more Star Wars adventures with these guys either! If someone wants to make that, then I'm not gonna complain :D ).

I don’t mean to be a wet blanket on the fire, but I simply refuse to acknowledge Rey as a Skywalker. In my eyes, the saga ended with Return of the Jedi. I tried really hard to accept the Sequels as a part of the family, but The Rise of Skywalker and how it was handled, it was the last straw for me. I really don’t want new movies to be made. Not with this current direction. I have no interest in them whatsoever.

Yeah I feel torn about it, as the ending of IX was great and a proper sendoff, but I think I'd be bummed if I never got to see Rey, Poe, Finn again. I do think the sun has set on the Skywalker vs Palpatine stuff for sure, but a new story with some familiar characters could work. I think I'd be happy as long as it is post TRoS and advances the story.

Here here! And if DR ever comes back "cough" ($$$$$) for some mysterious reason "cough"($$$$) she better just go by the name of Rey, only Rey.

Oh, I'm good with "Rey Skywalker". I have zero problem with that. (Although, Rey - The Light Lady of the Skywalker, to paralel the Dark Lord of the Sith epithet, would be amazingly cool as well) :)

What I ment was, I would like for the "mighty Skywalker bloodline" to be over - no more super-midichlorian messiah-family plots; we've done that all ready (and I struggle to see any fresh new way to pull this off after 9 films covering it in three different incarnations). I'm even good with Rey having offspring (and propegating the Palpatine bloodline), but the Skywalker line is done for me, personally.

I wrote this on another thread when Rise of Skywalker came out months ago and I'm still rolling my eyes about its possibility. Here it goes.

Disney showed us exactly how the Skywalker family and Skywalker bloodline can continue in the most "family-friendly" way and how in an American model family way Rey could now be a Skywalker. If we look at the symbolism that was used during the Code era Hollywood when drugs, mental illness, and sex were prohibited to be overtly shown in films, they'd use specific body language or framed shots to imply something more adult. The audience got it and it got around the Code. Flash forward to IX. We see Kylo holding "dead" Rey. He puts his hand over her stomach and imparts his life-force into her to create life within her. Not only did that bring her back to life, but he could have created life in her womb. She could now be carrying a Skywalker baby. His last act was an act of love through giving life to another after we've seen him only take life. She'll probably have twins chasing her around in Episode X.

I'm not writing this because I want it to happen or accept this as being canon. I'm writing this because I believe this is how "from a certain point of view" a multi-billion dollar industry can continue to churn through nostalgia, thinly veiled symbolism, and contrived plot retcons. I think it would cause a global eye-roll so powerful it would alter the tilt of the planet on its axis if they bring this back in 10 years. But in 10 years, it will be just about the right time for the economics of nostalgia to work their magic.

No, thank you? :) The only reason for doing something like that is to set up a stupid fight scene. Stupid fight scenes are all right for some franchises (*looks at MCU*) but stuff must have meaning in Star Wars. ...or at least that's how I see it. You may disagree, of course.

Star Wars has alot of "stupid" fights which are just there for action, just like Marvel.

    For example:
    - Obi-Wan vs Grievous
    - Luke vs the Rancor
    - Finn vs TR-8R
    - the fight against the Rathtars
    etc.

While these fights are cool for the most parts, there are just filler. But they are definitely a part of Star Wars.

Overall, I was really satisfied with the ending we got in The Rise of Skywalker and I think that should be the definitive end of the Skywalker Saga.

However, I love Rey, Kylo and a lot of the other new characters, and I wouldn’t at all be opposed to seeing them in another story years from now. I’m not exactly sure how to make that happen, especially because Kylo is a Skywalker by blood and Rey is a Skywalker by choice, so their involvement sort of ties everything back to the Skywalker Saga regardless. But if the story justified itself, I’d be on board with it. It’s all Star Wars to me and I’m sure I’ll love it regardless.

Hey let’s pay Lucas 4 billion for his movie rights and destroy every bit of it. Especially the coolest last name in Sci-fi history, gotta get rid of that.
