    The Graverobber:

The warmth of the night was a common occurrence broken only by gentle breezes that passed slowly, trickling through each branch of the forest. The warmth was not that of the sun’s gentle touch upon setting but more so a faint breath of the forest between the slight breeze. The slight winds ruffled leaves and branches only momentarily and were comforting. The Force was ever present in all living things surrounding Endor. The calm chirping of the night birds, the small rodent creatures playfully frolicking in the leaves of the forest floor, and the hooved creatures made light coos and grunts as the darkness fell softly over the forest.

    …that’s how it always was.

    …not how it is.

Things had changed over the course of many years. The battle of Yavin had taken its toll on this moon and the living Force was clouded by devastation. Since the reactor fell into the atmosphere and tainted the planet, sending it into a never ending winter, the forests were now desolate. The sounds of predators, hungry and vile, overtook the playful musings of the forests creatures of the past. The wind was no longer gentle and fleeting, but now ripped heavily through the exfoliated trees. The snow piled heavily onto the Northern edges of fallen logs, tree trunks, and metal scrap that had torn through the woodlands. The inhabitants of this world, long gone, had made refuge on other worlds as the Republic began smuggling refugees as much as supplies. Republic cleanup and decontamination crews tried to remove pieces of the Death Star, but to no avail as the cold harsh environment took its toll on the workers, forcing a withdrawal of the Republics limited resources.

The only inhabitants were scum. Pirates, who clung to whatever warm environments they could create, were the new norm of Endor. Caves, abandoned Imperial bases, even Ewok huts were taken over and used as shelter to hide their activities from both the Rebel Alliance and the Empire. While the Empire attempted to scavenge what they could, the Death Star was lost, and Endor was a symbol of their failure. They rarely trifled with the area. The Republic was gone from the moon once refugee support had ended.

The living forest moon was now as barren to life as Hoth. However, though scavenged for metal, shelter, goods, and items, there were things left buried on Endor that many never sought. In fact, there was something buried on Endor that one young boy knew had never been found. His youth was filled with tales of the Rebel Alliance victory, battle strategy, and the following relief efforts. He learned how great sacrifice came had brought relief for the Alliance but had cost the Force greatly. Living things were destroyed for political gain. Even the greatest hero of the Alliance during the Battle had not been seen in decades due to the great pain of loss he felt in the Force during the aftermath.

While most cadets focused on their military and political training, one excelled in these tasks but used his extra time to focus on an old hokey religion and the great pain it caused to lose a world of life. He often travelled to Endor, seeking to feel that presence of life again. He would disguise himself, and sneak away from Yavin in his X-wing fighter, landing in desolate areas. He would then sit and feel as others did in hope of one moment of revelation to how the Force worked.

It wasn’t long ago that one of these trips became a day that will forever live in infamy among the entire galaxy. The Force finally spoke to the young man. Sitting there, silently, and meditation on Endor, the young man opened his eyes and saw the world as it had once been. Nature was prominent on the moon and there were people around. His vision, a celebration occurring, was of the great heroes of the Republic and yet also a day of mourning. He saw the heroes, and watched as they stood mournfully over the funeral pyre of a strong force user. It was only then that the young man realized this occurred directly near where his meditations frequently occurred. He grabbed a large stick and began to push rubble out of the way, almost instinctively. That was when he first laid eyes on it…

    A piece forgotten by time…

A helmet, black as midnight, and charred as the edge panels of an Ion engine. The mesh skeleton of the helmet was visible to him beneath melted metallic paint. He quickly, once the initial awe ceased, placed it into his bag and walked back to his X-wing. Tossing the bag into the back, he looked up to his astromech unit.

“Get us prepped for course back to Yavin.”

His first step onto the ladder was met with a sharp pain in his neck. He reached back, horrified to feel a protruding metallic dart. He felt the pain searing through him and felt his limbs begin to fail. He fell from the ladder and someone managed the strength to remove the dart from his neck. His blurred vision was hindered by the dart’s impurities combined with a rather thick snow shower. He could see figures walking toward him.

“Take the droid and scavenge the ship, but don’t hurt it.” One main said.

    “Yes Captain” another replied.

“And kill this one.” He said referring the man lying on the snowy forest floor.

The young man heard this, and as he looked up to see his Astromech taken from out of the X-Wing, not without a fight however, but eventually removed…he felt anger welling inside of him. It was then that he began to go into a trance like state. It was the feeling before consciousness fades. The feeling of pain and shortness of breath. Tree branches, brandished like axes, began to strike him and yet his body did not fail. It was then, that his fear and anger for the situation began to take over, it was as if his body stood on its own to face the threat. He could then see a robed figure, tall and menacing, behind the men. His vision still cloudy, but it was as though his own mind was forced not to focus on the pain but on the new robed arrival.

Then, there was a storm, in what seemed like only an instant there was electrical energy spiraling through him and from his hands. He felt the fear and anger again overtake him. His mind, still groggy, was not his own and suddenly his strength began to return. As lightning poured from his fingertips he painfully eliminated his attackers. Once the final one collapsed, including his now-fried astromech, he fell back into the blurry and painfilled state. The beating he had received was immense and his only choice, he felt, was to collapse. The robed man walked over to him.

    “Stand!” the robed figure commanded.

“I can’t…” the young man said as he struggled to push his weight up, blood dripping into the cold snow.

“STAND!” the robed figured commanded and with an extension of his hand the Force had brought the young man upright.

Quickly the young man reached for the ladder on his X-wing and tried his hardest to hold himself upright. The right side of his face was badly beaten and he shielded it, almost embarrassingly, from the robed figure. His body hand burns from the lightning that poured through him. His aggressive and unknowledgeable Force attack had left him badly burned and scarred even beyond his beating.

“Who are you?” the man asked

“There has been an awakening…” the robed figure replied, dismissing the question. “Its power flows through you.”

    “What has awakened?”

“The Force. Its power is unmatched, as you have seen.” The robed figure said, revealing his dark and evil face.

“I was nearly killed. It was painful. I must get help.” The young man said.

“No. You will be healed. Use the Force and concentrate on your wounds.” The robed man demanded.

“I can’t concentrate…it burns.” He said, falling to one knee.

The Force was then surrounding him. It slammed him and held him against the side of his X-wing. Smoke still emanated from his body in the cold air of the forest moon.

“This is the true power of the Dark Side! Have you felt it? Seeping through your very veins?” the robed man asked.

    “I have…felt it.” He said

Slowly his body began to heal, the pain subsided and the young man began to stand again on his own as he was lowered, via the Force, back to the ground. He looked to his healer.

“Thank you. Why are you telling me this?” he asked.

“There have not been many with such a power as you possess. You must learn the ways of the Dark Side. Become a Sith!” the robed man said as he replaced his hood.
“I want more from this life. I want to be more. I always have. I have heard of the evil of the Sith, but it has been contradicted by your mercy in healing me. Thank you…umm..What should I call you?” the young man asked.

“Master.” He said plainly, with a grin.

The young man bowed before the robed figured.

“Thank you, master.” He said plainly. “My name is…”

The figure raised a hand to silence the young man.

“You will no longer need that name. You are now a Sith apprentice and will soon be full trained to do the will of the Sith. You will need this until you are capable of creating your own. Go forth…as Sith apprentice Kylo Ren and take what is yours.”

The robed figure handed an ancient weapon to the young man. A lightsaber. Different than any that the young man had read about, but also much less elegant. Thrown together is a better way to put it.

“You will learn its uses, my new apprentice, but for now…take vengeance on your foes. Finish off the rest of those pitiful pirates. Destroy them all!” he commanded and pointed toward the wilderness from which the attackers came.

    “Yes, Master.”

“Destroy them. Use your hatred and anger toward them to feed of the power of the dark side.” The robed figure stated with a smile.

“I will Master. I will destroy those responsible for my disfigurement and my pain.”

“Good. Together we will rule the galaxy and control the Force, Kylo Ren. We will stop any who oppose us. The Empire, The Alliance…and the Light.”

The robed figured quickly removed himself from the area as Kylo Ren looked forward toward his target. Anger flowed through him. Hatred for his attackers. He pulled his hood over his head as he began to march through the deep snowy forest. In the distance, he saw it, the cove of the pirates. Almost instinctively he drew his weapon and fired it up. A single extended blade and two side blades of a cross guard, red and molten. He then smiled, a vision of the helmet he had found raced through his mind for a second, and he trudged forward…toward his destiny.

    THE END

Thanks, i tossed that together. I know there are some holes and some less than stellar dialogue, but it only took about 30 minutes. If enough people enjoy it, i will further correct, elaborate, and revise it to a more thorough story.
