Something has always set a little odd with me. Droids... They are not utilized very much, except for in mundane tasks. I understand that during the Clone wars, droids were utilized by the separatists, but would that be enough for every being in the galaxy to not trust an R2 unit? There were primarily just two to four bipedal droids used by the separatists after all, and not all droids.

    Examples :
    • R2 and 3PO are not welcome in the Mos Eisley Cantina.. Why?
    • Droids are not placed in control of fighters (other than by the separatists)
I am just wondering if at some point way before the events of TPM, maybe even a millenia or two before, that there wasn't some sort of Terminator style Droid uprising once full AI was achieved? I think that would make a great story and explain why there is so much distrust in droids, even in the most recent star wars folklore..

In the EU/Legends, such a thing did in fact occur. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Droid_Revolution I don't believe it was ever gone into in full detail. It would make a pretty good story.

As for the Mos Eisley Cantina, there could be an easier explanation. Droids don't drink, and they take up space that might otherwise be filled by actual paying customers. ;)

I had never heard of that. I agree it would make a very interesting story, but I also feel that it is unfortunate that GL used 80% of that story line for the battle droids during the Clone Wars.
Good point on the droids taking up space.
