The battle of Jakku itself. We should learn more in the final Aftermath novel next year. I wonder if Luke is featured there and if he takes part in this battle.

The map is on Jakku, but isn't that because LST has it? or did he really obtain it there?

It's interesting that Jakku was once a living planet, hmmm.

"Leia has sent her most daring pilot on a secret mission to Jakku, where an old ally has discovered a clue to Luke’s whereabouts…."

I think that means he found it on Jakku, myself...

The living planet thing is what makes me think that whatever the Sith put there killed it.

If we take that sentence it literally you're right, maybe it wasn't the right choice of words, hmmm. Well, let's assume for now that it was indeed Jakku on which he found the missing piece.
But wouldn't it be a coïncidence that on the planet (Jakku) he went to after the "event" he also found the missing map piece after 7 years?

LST did not go to Jakku directly after the 'event'. Poe did search for LST in the comics prior to TFA and LST was first at the planet with the force egg. ;)

Nice, so we need the comics to string the whole story together, great info :)

This indeed makes your reasoning more plausible - that Tekka had the map before going to Jakku...

a cult who protected a holy egg. Later 2 creatures (a dark one and a light one) came out of the egg and fought each other. ;)

It is hard to tell if this has any significance to the movies. The light one was the aggressor and attacked the people, later the dark one appeared and fought+killed the light one. In the end the dark one absorbed something from the light one, before it died. Maybe it was a symbolic thing and we may see something similar in this trilogy. No idea.

    Well, that is very interesting!
My theory is that Snoke turned to the Dark Side and then used this weapon on Luke to gain more power - but as much as it hurt Luke it also damaged Snoke.
That image alone is remarkable considering what i was thinking could happen in my OP...
I guess however it could be one big coincidence and this is just another metaphor for the light vs dark, balance of the Force struggle.

This idea was abandoned altogether pretty early on... I believe the lightsaber was the key to Luke's location in the original version of the story. The TFA editor said she didn't' like the idea because new audience members wouldn't understand it. So instead of a lightsaber they changed it to something containing a map.

The hand + saber and the map are both in the initial TFA shooting schedule so that theory doesn't hold up.

I can't vouch for the shooting schedule, but it's possible the map was always in the plans. I thought MakingStarWars guys insinuated otherwise, but I could be wrong.

Wait, wait, wait....for all the talk in the other threads of how Bloodline supposedly rules out 2 Solo kids...

Why has nobody mentioned before that in Life Debt Leia has a dream where she sees 2 children...in fact, to the point of correction where she first saw one child and then clarifies two? In the same dream where Han dies on a snow planet and Luke goes missing among the stars?

Now, it's true that some of her dream hasn't come to pass...but that's a darn important potential plot point!
