With the next phase of The High Republic approaching, we finally have our first plot details. Convergence by Zoraida Córdova, the first adult novel of phase 2, finalized its cover and gave us our first full synopsis from the slate of upcoming books. Along with that, we now have an idea of when phase 2 will end thanks to an updated pre-order listing.

Convergence was originally slated for release on October 4th, but is now coming on November 15th. Here is the cover and synopsis for the book:

You can pre-order The High Republic: Convergence now.

As mentioned earlier, we also have a better idea of how long phase 2 will run. According to Path of Vengeance's pre-order listing, Cavan Scott’s upcoming young adult novel will mark the finale on May 2nd, 2023. It simply reads:

This indicates there will only be two waves of books between this fall and next spring, not including any comic books, graphic novels, or The Battle of Jedha audio drama.

At Star Wars Celebration we learned a lot about phase 2, including the shift in release dates that Convergence was affected by. Here is the updated schedule for everything announced so far:

    Wave 1:
    • Path of Deceit (October 4th, 2022)
    • Marvel’s The High Republic (October 2022)
    • Quest for the Hidden City (November 1st, 2022)
    • Marvel’s The Blade (November 2022)
    • Dark Horse’s The Nameless Terror (November 2022)
    • Convergence (November 15th, 2022)
    • The Battle of Jedha (January 3rd, 2023)
    • Dark Horse’s Quest of the Jedi by Claudia Gray (Presumably fall 2022)
    • Untitled Dark Horse graphic novel by Daniel José Older (Presumably fall 2022)

    Wave 2:
    • Cataclysm (April 4th, 2023)
    • Quest for Planet X (April 4th, 2023)
    • Path of Vengeance (May 2nd, 2023)

A few caveats to keep in mind: there could be a straggling comic issue or two released after Path of Vengeance given the fluidity of comic schedules. They could also employ the storytelling strategy employed with The Fallen Star. That novel was the billed conclusion to phase 1 while also being the first out of the gate for that wave. Every release thereafter tied directly into the events of that novel.

Finally, we don't know if the upcoming Young Jedi Adventures animated series will factor into phase 2, as that will also be coming next spring. The show could easily run past May 2nd depending on its start date.

In any case, the listing implies the most important events will happen in Path of Vengeance. With the second phase ending earlier than most thought, that means the final phase could begin as early as holiday season 2023 or early 2024 if the seven-month gap between phases 1 and 2 is closely followed.
