The thing that puzzles me the most about this High Republic rumor is the apparent lack of Sith vs. Jedi stories. There are plenty of both, but in order to fit in canon, neither group should meet. This is why the Jedi Council believed the Sith have been extinct for a Millenia.
The other day I was reading the comic book for Galaxy’s Edge, and there was a story of people going into Moraband (I think it was Moraband, the Sith planet on Rebels.) Inside, the characters are viciously attacked by cool undead Sith guards and monstrous Sith hounds. It was cool stuff. Does anyone think this is how the new canon will handle problem?

We know nothing for certain at this point, only that 2 supposedly credible sources (one a Hungarian site I know nothing about which was subsequently corroborated by Jason Ward, which we know has a pretty decent track record) labled the Project Luminous... um... project as the setting for the upcoming 2022 film, which was also stated to be the first episode in the Benioff & Weiss series (taken over and headed by someone else). Nothing has been confirmed from official sources, though. So yeah, it is entirely possible that JW & Co are wrong and that the 2022 film will not be connected to Project Luminous in any way. That said, there are no indication that anything else, apart from the TV shows, are going on either, and it seems from the outisde that Project Luminous is a priority right now.

The news show called it a "publishing event" on Monday. That kind of sums it up.

Cool either way. I hope they get their technicians and engine lube and devote all of that effort to get that creative machine really rolling.

The cover to the first High Republic novel “Light of the Jedi” just came out. And it looks wonderful.

I looks really interesting! Another shot in the veins I needed. Star Wars seems to be diversifying itself now, in both era, content, and characters. But not everything is always as it appears, so I'll watch this with great interest. The collaborative effort from the beginning and working out a single-minded vision for what the next "phase" of Star Wars is was the most exciting piece of news, and looking back we can see the seeds of that in Master & Apprentice and Dooku: Jedi Lost.

I'll probably buy the Soule and Gray books and MAYBE the first comic issue, but we'll see how well they handle this concept before I go too far in.

You must be joking. Even if they did, who takes that clickbait bollocks seriously anyway?

Not going to lie, the whole title and aesthetic reminds me of the covers of Tales of The Jedi (Dark Horse)

The thing that is stopping me from being interested in this project right now is that it's not being confined to a single literary medium.

Trying to force your audience to follow an interconnected narrative across the Adult Fiction, Young Adult Fiction, Middle Grade Fiction, and Comics mediums simultaneously is not, in my opinion, a sound blueprint for building a "sandbox narrative", and I think the better approach would be to have started this initiative by focusing on a single literary medium first and then expanding to other literary mediums once you've established a baseline interest in the concept and setting.

I agree. I really wonder who this is aimed at when you're casting that broad of a net. Is this aimed at adults, young adults, comic book fans, casual fans, hardcore fans? One thing that really turned me off about the big 2 comic publishers over the years was the major crossover events that happened in the summers. This is giving some of those vibes at the moment. The time period seems interesting enough but I just can't get too excited about it at the moment.

You'll be surprised. There's been people who took things as fact with a lot worse click bait videos that has been posted on here in the past.

Lucasfilm is trying to appeal to a very broad audience, and while I understand why, I don't think you can immediately appeal to a super-broad audience when you're launching a brand-new thing, and I fear that their diverse and broad focus is going to backfire on them, which would hurt their ability to expand the scope of what SW storytelling can be.

looks cool enough just wish they put what makes Star Wars unique (The Force/and force practitioners) front and center on the big screen instead of books and comics... the politics, the wars, the scoundrels and smugglers - absolutely - secondary media all the way. But Jedi... that should always be Live Action movie or tv show... just my 2 cents but... kinda maddening at the same time.

    Oof, big disagree.

Jedi in other mediums let them do stuff that they probably wouldn't try on film.

And films about more than just Jedi? Yes please.

Star Wars is about a lot of different things, and I'd hate to place unnecessary restrictions on it.
