The Last Jedi Post-Premiere Leaks

So, your entire disdain of this sequence is because of a child actor, who from the sounds of it, while plays an important part, is relatively small? Oookay.

Please read my earlier posts. I acknowledge that I get the meaning of the scene, and what it was meant to convey. But it just felt flat and underserved to me.

Some people love it, then great! A good movie had an equally powerful ending! More power to you.

I just didn't feel the same.

 

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion regarding the effectiveness of the scene or a film or whatever. Please don't think I'm trying to take that from you. But your last post commented on not liking child actors. The tone and meaning of that commentary came off to me that that was your sole reason for not liking it. I just found it to be a little bit of a strange statement to make regarding this. But again, to each his own. Or perhaps I misinterpreted. If that was the case, I do apologize.

 

So I haven't watched the movie yet but I've read all the spoilers, I guess the most incoherent point I need some help understanding is why did Luke die exactly?
Is this explained in some way in the movie? I mean the whole point of TFA was finding Luke for him to help the resistance and what did this accomplish? a 5 minute lesson to Rey and a 5 minute time distraction for the resistance to escape? I get he may still help from the beyond but what was the purpose of him dying? Yoda died of old age and Obi-Wan sacrificed himself physically to buy time but what happened to Luke? he died of exhaustion?

 

I saw part of the scene.

There was something peaceful about it. It wasn't force exhaustion. It was like he accepted his failure (convo with Kylo), and fully embraced the force again. He seemingly left his body and almost willingly left into the force.

 

It was a mix of finding peace and providing a distraction. Essential he is responsible for pushing Kylo over the edge by raising his green lightsaber at him, and he distracts FO to let rebels escape.

He physically dies because he strains himself from projecting across the galaxy using the force. He never leaves Ach-to, and projects to Crait.

 

i thought the movie was amazing,well at least my fake leak was on the right track.
still think it could been cool if luke lifted h is xwing out the water and arrived on crait in person.
pity no back story on snoke.

the emperors theme music when rey is brought to snoke,makes me wonder if there is some conection to palpatine or pleigus.
or could just been thrown in there for fans

still not convinced that reys parents were scavengers

 

One thing I picked up on the whole Luke dying from exerting himself by force projecting, the very first time Rey and Kylo see each other through the force Ren alludes to this and says something along the lines of "you can't be here as the strain would have killed you"

Something along the lines of that anyway. Can't remember exactly the line but it's clear what he's alluding to.

So surely Luke would have known by projecting himself to save the others and face Ren would cause his death in the end.

Seems even more of a noble act now that I witnessed that line.

 

did anyone notice rey has the books from the tree at the end ?
she scavenged the books.
yoda must have known and blew up the tree before luke got inside

yeah i just checked a copy of the movie and when finn goes in the drawer on the falcon the books from the tree are there.

just looking through the movie again and noticed rey closing the same drawer just before she gets in the escape pod.
Rey definatly took the books from the tree

 

I'll admit I hated the way the leaks portrayed the movie. After finally watching it I realized that is actually plays out ok. My two biggest gripes are the use of Snoke (who looks awesome btw) and there's a lot of bouncing around that seems pretty sloppy. But whatever. Definitely some really awesome points though. I feel the story would have served as a great rough draft for a better writer to edit. Lost potential as this had the makings of a super epic movie. Oh well. Sucks that JJ is wrapping up the trilogy but ep9 should be interesting.

 

"Wisdom they held, but that library contained nothing that the girl Rey does not already possess."

I think this hints that yoda knew rey took the books.

 

Oh yeah, and that flashback scene from tfa has zero purpose.

Hope you had a chance to watch this movie because you're in for a lot of surprises. Not sure what movie you watched a few days ago, but you're clearly on the wrong website.

 

i think rey will have a new lightsabre in 9 as we see her with the broken skywalker sabre with exposed blue crystal
she also has the books and can pass on the jedi ways.
i think the knights of ren will be a big part of 9 and will tie in with TFA flashback
