Frankly, the soundtrack for this trilogy has just turned out to be disappointing.

The soundtrack is on the torrents now, so should be no need to share personal dropbox anymore. :)

That's a shame. Nothing can compare to the score of the Phantom Menace, say what you will about episode 1, but the music was absolutely brilliant; I don't think anything will ever compare to it.

The soundtrack is a little disappointing this time round.
A good chunk of it is taken from the original trilogy with Reys theme missing and no stand out dark side or battle/fight theme.
The only real key part of TFA in here is the jedi steps found on the Ahch-to track.

In general it's a bit like the film, some nice bits and some easily forgotten and want to forget bits.

Rey's theme is there very often actually.
So are both of Kylo's themes, Poe's, the Resistance and Snoke's.
Maybe you are thinking of the introduction to Rey's theme structured around the Celesta?

Haven't seen how it works with the film yet, but I'm really enjoying the score on its own. The excessive ANH call backs can be a bit distracting but I feel like (from what I understand of the film's plot) I can see how they fit thematically.

Rose's theme is good. It's not nearly as good as Rey's. I could have done with a second strong new theme, but it is very solid for late Williams.

But overall, the texture, battle, and incidental music seems stronger in TLJ than TFA so far. Will see what I think after my fist viewing tonight.

When it begins, it reminds me a lot of Anakin's theme from TPM ... and there is also something harry-potter-ish about it.

I had the EXACT same thoughts. The first few notes are definitely lifted from Anakin. And it definitely has a Harry Potterish quality that doesn't immediately seem Star Warsy.

But I had the same reaction the first time i heard Rey's Them and Across the Stars as well and those have become two of my favorite Williams themes over time. So I wonder if it will fell more at home more the more we see the film.

@The Next Skywalker @Rebo my exact same thoughts too: it feels very soft and innocent, and I really enjoy it.

The soundtrack is excellent, but I have to question some of the musical choices included only in the film. I have to wonder whether these choices were by Rian’s or John’s design.

None of new music was memorable to me because I didn't even notice them.

I only noticed when previous music from TFA and the OT was played onscreen.

Your not going to get another Empire Strikes Back quality soundtrack from an 85 year old John Williams. But it's still a good and classy score, that fits the star wars universe. I still would rather have that than someone like Has Zimmer have a go. I have enjoyed listening to the Last jedi soundtrack last couple of days, and off to buy it today.

I am just happy to have new John Williams music. Loved what he did with TFA, and after one viewing of TLJ, I think that sounded amazing as well, but if you compare it to ESB, it doesn't have nearly as many new themes. I will be dissapointed if they change to another composer in IX.

The only reason they would ever consider changing composer for IX at this stage is due to a serve deterioration in health, or worse, for Williams. Should he stay in good health (and by the Force I hope that he does), I don’t see why anyone else would be brought in for IX. Though if he is to compose it, I do fully expect it to be his final work in Star Wars.
