THR report that Star Wars: The Last Jedi won 'Best Movie for Grownups' at the 17th annual AARP award show on Monday night. Mark Hamill and Kelly Marie Tran presented the award to director Rian Johnson, who also spoke with ET Online about porgs, his opinion on the newly released Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer, and more.

The Last Jedi beat Get Out (which won Best Ensemble), The Shape of Water, Lady Bird, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri for the award.

Kelly Marie Tran, whose parents are Vietnamese immigrants, shared how the film made her feel, that she could achieve anything and everything is possible.

Love The Last Jedi, but... it beat out Three Billboards, The Shape of Water, Get Out, and Ladybird?

    Huh.

Gotta remind the old folks to pass the torch to the next generation and enjoy that green sea monster mammary gland milk. They needed that.

From what I can gather the AARP is primarily a marketing and lobbying group that enjoys the benefits of a non-profit status.
Newsworthy? Sure. But their awards mean little beyond an arbitrary choice made by editors of a magazine for the elderly.

Lol. My Dad is funny. He told me the rebels were being lead by the Golden Girls. So it makes sense AARP likes it. I thought it was a mature movie, as far as Star Wars movies go.
