Well this film kind of has to be darker in tone to at least some extent, as our heroes (for the most part) achieved a victory in The Force Awakens. If they continually keep winning and they don't feel the stakes and the threat of the enemy, then neither do we.

 

It doesn't have to be though. The Resistance's war against The First Order is more of a backdrop at this point. Rey is the protagonist, and Luke will be a main focus. While the Resistance situation will possibly become "darker", Luke's training of Rey will be much lighter in comparison. It all depends on the main focus of the storyline.

 

I still feel that Luke will not make it past Episode Vlll. I have even bet credits on this. Positive. Great Idea to start a plot for Episode 10,11,12. TFO wins the war due to Luke's death and Hosnian System's destruction. 10,11, and 12 could be on The Rebellion's rise.

 

Doubt it. Many people feel like the last Jedi storyline has been stretched out far enough. I would not want to see it prolonged any further. Lucas' intention was for Luke to rebuild the Jedi Order.

 

Which obviously failed due to Kylo wiping out the whole thing. Lucasfilm is loving the dollars they are getting. Of course they will extend it.

Just reminded me of something:

 

I recommend typing into imdb search engine phrase "The Last." It's been used pretty extensively in film titles and that's why I love "The Last Jedi." It's simple, it's a bit campy and is not afraid of it.

 

Lucasfilm got backlash from the progenitor and fans for being repetitive. They are not foolish enough to alienate the creator of the franchise their very business is based around. The Jedi will be rebuilt in time for the next trilogy.

 

It does sting at first, but we have to ACCEPT THIS PEOPLE!

 

Would Lucas have wanted that though? The whole point of the Prequel trilogy and The Clone Wars was that the Jedi had become corrupt and flawed, that an institutionalized order that is mired and controlled by politics was not what the Jedi were meant to be. In the old EU, they made Luke's order a near recreation of the mistakes of the past. I suspect the canon version of Luke's Jedi would be quite different. Purer.

I love it.

I believe is named The Last Jedi because the movie is going to evolve around Luke, TFA was very much about him, hi didnt appear in it but the whole maguffin of the movie was him, so it only makes sense that this movie is about him and the new characters fighting the FO.

Now probably from now on they are not going to be any more Jedi in Star Wars? whats its going to be the name of the new force users? it needs to be good Jedi is such an iconic name and thing.

But yeah this movie is going to be lagerly about Luke and im scared for him because there is big chance that he will die.

 

A very underrated film.

 

A religious order by definition is meant to be set apart from society in some way, shape, or form. This is what Lucas intended for the new Jedi to become, and what Yoda echoes to Luke throughout ESB.

 

My own personal theory for the end of the trilogy is that both Rey and Kylo are the scions of the Force, she represents the light and he the dark. He leads the Knights of Ren, and she forms a new type of Jedi (or a new breed of lightsiders) that are very much like a Seven Samurai type ideal roaming the galaxy, and both maintain balance in the Force together.

 

And.. you think I don't know that? Really? Wow, so I post a poster of a movie I love that's all about samurai & $#$& that also happened to be a December release and you just concluded I must be some half brained twit who doesn't know how to use Google.. amazing.
