The Lucasfilm Story Groups Leland Chee Confirms That More Star Wars Legends Characters Are Returning Soon

    Lucasfilm has slowly been integrating content that exclusively applied to the Star Wars Legends continuity to the Canon continuity established by Rebels and The Force Awakens, among other works - with Thrawn's arrival on the former show being the biggest example. Legends fans have good news going forward: Leland Chee has claimed that more characters will be returning, and soon.



    Taking to Twitter, the Keeper of the Holocron himself casually hinted that Legends fans will be pleasantly surprised in the next few months, as some familiar faces will be making appearances soon:








    Technically, Tag and Bink, who were suggested to appear in Solo by director Ron Howard, were never canonical to the continuity established by Legends to begin with - their story was a comedic miniseries done in the style of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead. But given that they're in Solo, it might also suggest that we'll see some other previously-established characters appear in Han's standalone movie. And then there's Rebels, which will be wrapping up in February and March. Beyond that, the future's not clear for where these characters will apparently show up, but still - the more, the merrier.

    I'd still be interested to see Xizor. He's the one Legends villain I really got behind (other than Mr Zahn's iconic Thrawn of course), so seeing the Falleen transition into canon would definitely work for me. Also Darth Talon... for... y'know..., reasons.

    This also means there's still hope for Mara Jade too @Trevor ;)

    They just need to come up with their own stuff rather than poaching stories and characters that have already been explored. The entire point of blowing up the EU (I personally could not care less they non canoned it) was so they had the freedom to create new stories. So how about instead of making half baked Frankenstein versions of characters I love, you can create a new character for me to care about.

    Primarily so they didn't have to fit Episodes VII - ?? into the foundation that had been created by the EU. There's huge parts of the EU that have been nullified by the ST, but that doesn't mean that all of it has to go. There were some great characters and stories created by many talented people... if it has a place, why not?

    You can’t have both? The people producing this new content are fans too. If they want to tell a new story that happens to include some of their favorite EU characters, and it makes sense, then I don’t really see the harm.

    Funny thing is, it was. I remember all the hoo-haa over it being canon - a movie without being a movie; I even bought the soundtrack. It's been a while since I last read the book but I'm not sure if it violates much, if any, of the current canon?    ​
