Back in May in was reported that Temuera Morrison was returning to play Boba Fett in season 2 of The Mandalorian, and now that credit has appeared on the actor's profile on a top Australian casting website.

While this does not confirm anything, as this can just as easily have been populated based on the original report back in May, it reignites the rumor that Boba Fett is making his long-awaited return to Star Wars in The Mandalorian season 2. Here is a screen shot of Temuera Morrison's actor page on showcast.com which lists 'Boba Fett - The Mandalorian S2 Post-production':

I don't think Lucasfilm will opt to reveal Boba Fett's return in promotional material for the show, preferring an in-show reveal instead. But until we see the Fett pop up on screen or hear it from official sources, don't lock this in as a guarantee just yet. Showcast is considered by many publications to be the top resource for actor directories in Australia, so it has a respectable reputation, but like IMDB, this could be inaccurately populated with information.

There is only one person who could play (or at least voice) an adult Boba Fett because he is a direct clone of Jango Fett, and that person is Temuera Morrison. So if Boba Fett is indeed returning it would of course be Morrison who played him. I am not the biggest Boba Fett fan, but even I have to admit I am interested to see how they would bring the character back 'from the dead' after his fateful fall into the Great Pit of Carkoon in Return of the Jedi. And whether you love Boba Fett or not, let's be honest, he's no good to us dead.

We will keep you posted if we hear anything else regarding this story. Either way, The Mandalorian season 2 is just six weeks away from debuting on Disney Plus, so we'll find out soon enough.

For what it's worth, I think Temeura Morrison will be playing a character who claims to be Boba Fett. He may be the original Boba Fett, or he may be a clone claiming to be Boba Fett. In canon we know that Fett was not in possession of his original armor during the "Aftermath" timeline. Perhaps the original Boba Fett survived and reclaimed his armor, or some other clone may have managed to wrest it from Cobb Vanth. It would make for a good mystery over the arc of the second season for the audience and characters to try to determine the true identify of Morrison's character.

Let me pose this question to all of you...what would it take to convince you of the true identity of Morrison's character? Would he need to have Sarlacc-inflicted scars? The codes to the Slave-I? Would we have to have a Kaminoan Cloner attest he is the real Boba Fett? What do you think?

The more I think about it, the more I think the whole Boba Fett thing might be a red herring.

I feel like Cobb Vanth being the mystery figure at the end of “The Gunslinger” would actually make a lot more sense.

He’s a lawman on Tatooine, so it makes perfect sense he would be there and would be actively looking for/tracking Fennec Shand.

Temuera Morrison is definitely in the season, but I’m leaning more towards a Rex cameo alongside Ahsoka.

I feel like introducing Boba would create the same problem they had with TFA. Every time they tried to introduce Luke, he overshadowed the new main characters and took over the story. People will wanna know more about what happened to Boba after RotJ and thus care less about Din Djarin.

Obviously, this is just a theory and he probably is playing Boba Fett. Just think there’s a chance they’re messing with us, by playing along and keeping the real secrets of the season safe.

I wonder if none of these rumored characters (Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Ren and Bo Katan) actually appear if the fan base will blow the proverbial gasket. Yes, I would LOVE if all of these characters appeared on the show, but I'm trying really hard not get my expectations up, so that I don't feel disappointed if they don't appear. The most important thing I want for this season of The Mandalorian is good storytelling. I would like to know why Din DJarin knows nothing at all of the Jedi. Was his sect of the Mandalorian culture never talk about the Jedi. Are they a radical warrior sect of Mandalorians that adhere to strict rules to their creed. Were they like this during the Republic rule or where they further radicalized during the Empire Rule. I'm curious. I am eager to find out if Boba Fett will be consider as part of the Mandalorian creed or do they still consider him to be just a BOUNTY HUNTER outsider like his father Jango Fett. (If Boba Fett will be in the second season of the Mandalorian.)

Temuera Morrison’s appearance in Mandalorian will be a giant push in the direction of “inclusive to all Star Wars eras.” I am a little hesitant in believing showcast.com, though the website seems legit, but my faith in makingstarwars.net And their excellent track record is what makes me believe the rumor is true.

Now, as a side note: SHOULD Boba Fett return? I am worried that the second Boba enters the picture, his character will suck all the air out of the room. People will be more interested in his whereabouts and adventures more than the Mandalorian who is not as beloved a character (only because he hasn’t existed in lore for four decades.)
Would they bring back Boba Fett just to have a cameo? To me, that would create a loose thread dangling. When he got eaten by sarlaac, that was final. With him alive, his story is not complete.
Would they bring back Boba Fett just to kill him off again? To me, this seems like a “cash grab,” similar to how many viewers saw Palpatine’s return in TROS.
Would they bring back Boba Fett to include him on the adventure? To me, this is the most logical way to go, though (as mentioned in my comment,) there is the fear of sucking all the air out of the room.

Isn't Temuera Morrison roughly 20 years too old for Boba Fett? So we probably don't see him without mask, they use some kind of de-aging, we only see him in flashbacks,..., or he's playing Rex

Maybe they'll do something with cloning that even though he ages normally, his clone genes still make him look older or something like that. I feel like Rex should be dead or too old to do anything now. Clones age like two times as fast as humans and assuming Rex was created in about 32 BBY, like the first wave of clones, he should be 40 normally, but due to his aging, he would be 80.

Filoni will never let Rex die off even to point on retrofitting him into Battle of Endor (glad it didn't stick). He'll find a way to shoe horn him in along with Ashoka.
