Do people honestly believe we're going to get a canon retelling of the Thrawn trilogy, because I just can't buy into it?

There's just absolutely no way they could bring Thrawn into the story without it feeling forced and unnatural. Timothy Zahn has been crystal clear in that Thrawn is not truly a part of the Empire. He saw them as a means to an end; an ally powerful enough to assist them in the event that the Grysk invaded Chiss space. He viewed The Republic ill-suited to this task for various reasons, namely politics and power structure. With the Empire dissolved and pitiful remnants being all that remain, Thrawn would no longer continue to have anything to do with them. With the political structure and disarming of the New Republic, Thrawn wouldn't ever consider allying with them. He'd consider them even weaker than The Republic of old.

Already seeing videos pop up about rumors for season 3 and I'm so curious but am resisting until official info is out this time!

    Hey guys, awesome thread.

So what do you guys want to see in season 3? Will there be a lot of Grogu or none at all, will we see Luke again, is Mando going to have a season in a new place by himself, etc? Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Those rumours are most likely false. There hasn't really been anything from reliable sources yet, because as Favreau said they're not even in production yet. There's only been like two that I'd believe. One that's obvious, and the second regarding props/ sets being built. There's no way to tell if they were designed for Book of Boba Fett or Mando season 3 yet though.

Boba Fett returning for Mandalorian season 3 (which is pretty much a given), and Naboo N1 starfighters making an appearance.

I've been kind of wondering this as well. It seems to suggest he's doing *something*, but it's not clear what. But I have suspicions of him trying to rebuild the Empire. If it failed, with how he's been written lately, I would've thought that he would've just gone back to the Ascendency. But I guess we'll see. Maybe he's just chilling with Ezra on an isolated planet *shrug*

For some reason, I have the feeling that the bobafett series will not rise on us viewers the same passion as Mando did.
Boba will have a hard job :)

My guess is that Grogu will at least show up. We see characters come and go and reapear. Even some that were thought dead. I'm trusting the show will continue to come up with good content. My daughter probably won't watch if there is no Grogu and it may be harder to sell to my wife too. Perhaps Luke will drop off Grogu the way Mando has dropped him off at times of greater danger.

I think it's obvious, that if there is a next season it will be about the dark saber and Mandalorians mainly..
Grogu may appear in the final episodes, that's my bet also

I have recently finished watching the second season. I was watching it with my family, and it was an amazing time and the best holidays!

I was convinced that there was going to be a moment when Grogu would copy the Frog lady and use the translator to speak to Din. But then the 'crest and everything in it got blowed up good.

This is still a bit surreal to me.

It's funny how after the sequel trilogy (which I was disappointed with), I thought, ok.. sadly, time for a Star Wars break. Been a fan since I was school age. Then by chance I caught the preview clip of Mando with the Werner Herzog scene and I was totally intrigued. Wow, a Star Wars story around the time of the Skywalkers, but not necessarily about them. This show was a welcome and surprising treat that I really didn't realized I needed. Looking forward to season 3.

I'd absolutely love it to happen, there's a bunch of EU stories that deserve to be adapted into live-action, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I, too, believe it very, very unlikely that LFL will do live action adaptations of old EU books. Book adaptations are difficult at the best of times, and invariably ends up alienating both book fans and those fans who want new stories. I don't for a second believe LFL/Disney will spend hundreds of millions of dollars to remake Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Tirlogy (or other EU books) into films or shows; basically spending all that cash making a story "everybody" already knows. They'd much rather just keep selling those books as is and write new stories for the NuCanon.

What I think _IS_ quite possible at this stage, is for the LFL to create _A_ post-RotJ Thrawn focused story cycle either as a series of movies (trilogy?) or full TV show. Such an endeavour would very likely source some story beats, character arcs, and plot points from the EU books and weave it into a new, exciting, and fresh story that we as fans don't already know (and which alligns better with their current vision for Star Wars). Alternatively, such a Thrawn focused story cycle could be told across multiple TV shows and films (with The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Rangers of the New Republic, and the "climactic story event" that these are reported to culminate in, being the top contenders right now).

Here's my current guestimation: We will see a Thrawn show (this possibly being Ahsoka) that feel familiar to EU lovers in some minor ways but otherwise stay completely original (no Katana fleet or Zahn characters, for instance). And, this show will _NOT_ end in the betrayal and "artistical" murder of Thrawn, but rather he'll escape only to pop back up in a Return of Thrawn series/trilogy/whatever to spearhead a post-ST initiative. My guess right now is that there's at least a 20% chance for this to occur in some form in the future.

    Hey, folks.

All y'all have to go watch the SWNN Resistance Broadcast interview with Paul Sun-Hyung Lee right now! Their sit-downs with "minor" SW people are always great, and @John Hoey, @James Baney, & @laceygilleran really, really nailed it again this time around. Lee's the best and you just have to go watch this, peoploids! :D

Edit: There's SOOOOOO much love in this one <3
