Peli was actually my favorite thing about Book of Boba Fett. She was certainly one of the few things that made me laugh (for intentional reasons.) Star Wars needs humor throughout the movie (some of the funniest saga moments in my opinion were, ironically, in Empire Strikes Back.)

It's the reason why The Mandalorian is the most-watched series -- by far -- on Disney+

It’s surprising to see people with Grogu dolls and they’re not even fans of Star Wars. They just love baby Yoda. The Mandalorian show has transcended fandom. The Mandalorian show can not survive without baby Yoda. A testament to his swift return.

With all due respect to Din Djarin, Baby Yoda (Grogu) IS The Mandalorian.

Like the show's Japanese inspiration, Lone Wolf and Cub, the show was always intended to be about the two of them.

Here's an even longer version of the season three trailer. Pretty sure it won't be up for long. I just gotta say, this freakin trailer is grade A amazing. That feeling of star wars. It's awesome. @Rogues1138

I'm not sure which way your going in your post. In response to your first statement.........
Hmmm. It seems that both Din and Grogu's journeys are equally emphasized. Just because the actual title of the show is THE and not a plural form of mandalorian does not necessarily mean that it's referring to just one of the two. It's looking like both of their destinies lead to Mandalore. Guess we're both saying the same thing yes? You mentioned Lone Wolf and Cub.

That's the clearest copy I've seen yet, the other one's were so cloudy didn't bother watching, I couldn't really follow it. This trailer is extraordinary!!! The hype is real! I can't wait for the official trailer when do you think season 3 will be released? Lucky dogs got to see this at SWC on the big screen.

im going to take a guess that it is either the capital ( I can’t rember the name ) or one of the other major Mandalor cities

I think it's supposed to be Sundari, the capital of Mandalore. It was a domed city because the Mandos pretty much made their planet unlivable without it.

    Yes, we are! :)

I apologize if I confused the issue by proclaiming the show's title refers to Grogu. Throughout the first two seasons, we assumed 'The Mandalorian' was referring to Din Djarin. What I meant to imply was that as we look forward to Season 3, we NOW understand 'The Mandalorian' refers to Grogu as much as it does to Din.

Yes, TCW. My memory is shot too, but I think the first time is in season 2? (The one in which all the Mandalorian schoolchildren get sick because their tea's been poisoned or something?) I can't remember if you actually see the dome from the outside though.

You've actually just shown me the......ahem....light....in more ways than one. I didn't even know that was Bo Katan in the trailer and was so embarrassed about it that I deleted the post.

Listen, I'm a big fan of The Mandalorian and while the first four episodes of S3 are (IMO) aren't nearly as good as the first four of S1 and S2, they certainly aren't bad.

That said, imagine how we'd all be talking if Episodes 1 and 2 of Season 3 had been the Mando-centric episodes that got stuck into The Book of Boba Fett?

This is not anything more than pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if Favreau felt pressured to bring Grogu back early for Season 3 marketing purposes. If so, I think it backfired on them.

In my mind, the season would have been ON FIRE viewership-wise if they would have left everybody hanging about Grogu and Mando all the way up to the premeir of Season 3. That would have started the season off with a huge bang IMO. Then it's followed by Episode 2 which featured Luke training Grogu. It might explain why there's parts of these first four episodes that feel kind of 'stretched out' since they ended up replacing Favreau's original plans for the first two episodes of Season 3.

    Just a thought...

I agree. I think they should have put the reunion for season 3 instead of in Boba Fett.. but as you pointed out, It must have been for a marketing purpose to get the Mandalorian viewers to watch Boba Fett. I mean, I did. My brother said it as well. He preferred watching The Mandalorian but would continue watching as he knew Din would show up in episode 5. I do wonder if they will do something similar with Ashoka..

But their reunion felt a bit rushed. Jon Favreau have somewhat said that Grogu was with Luke for 2 years, while for us viewers it felt like summer camp. I would have loved to see more of Din, how he would cope without Grogu and being secluded from the rest of the Mandalorians. He's been in a lot of tricky situations and many of those times Grogu or someone else have always saved him.

Meh. I just have to think that there is a story-based reason in there somewhere. I just do not believe that any major decisions about the story are changed or guided by marketing or merchandising. I know it all goes hand in hand, but I just don't think Favreau is being made to alter his plans strictly to sell toys or promote another series. Now, as far as the different series go, that IS a part of the plan. Of course they want viewers of The Mandalorian to watch Book of Boba Fett. And Asokha. And Skeleton Crew. And any and every future series tied to the Mandoverse. That's just part of the Machine, and if a little cross-promotion and even storyline cross over is part of that, I for one am willing to deal with it to get all this new content.

As far as the two years with Luke thing, I just think that too much is being made of that. Truth be told, we just don't know much about the passage of time so far. Personally, I have a hard time with that span, because it's nearly impossible to imagine Din going a full two years not seeing Grogu. I just feel like once Asokha comes out, we may start to get a better idea of a timeline. There have been some hints and speculation that the Asokha series will occur before, during, and after the Mando timeline.

For the most part, I just don't get the criticism around reuniting Din and Grogu in BoBF. To me it's only clunky from a marketing perspective. As far as the story goes, it really does fit well. Boba needed Din. Din was on Tattooine. Bringing Grogu back changed Din's perspective. Before Peli brought Grogu to find him, Din was all-in prepared to DIE fighting beside Boba. The reunion changed his mindset and very likely tilted the scales in their favor. Also, Boba was able to whip his rancor into a King Kong frenzy and Grogu was able to soothe the beast before he demolished the entire city. For me, it all worked. I do not think that was all the original plan necessarily, but, whatever.

I truly do not think it took anything away from Season 3, and while I do think they could have done a better job recapping the reunion, or explaining it, there is always going to be a line of demarcation between the general viewing masses and the more hardcore fan viewers.
This also applies to many other parts of the series. I'm sure that many viewers did not know who Asokha Tano or Bo-Katan Kryze are, so they had the option of going back to TCW and Rebels, or not. For the casual viewer, they are getting all the info they need to understand these characters. There is ample backstory for them, but it's not required. I feel like anyone that doesn't know how or when Grogu came back, will have it explained in the story before this season ends. It's just too big to not be covered properly.

For my part, I'm not sure there are so much viewers that reached TM Season 3 and not interested in SW. The main attraction of the Mandalorian to me, is in that "old good stuff" refurbished with new technologies.
I find hard to believe one can really appreciate TM without knowing much of SW.
I mean, to me, the are definitely few "casual viewers".
