all right, let it all out folks!
    • how early did you get up to watch this, or, if you didn't, what are you waiting for? XD
    • Nick Nolte's character: passing fancy or will we see him again?
    • that ending: woof. thoughts? feelings?
Blurggs are silly. pretty sure Filoni said: just deal with it ~ hahaha

this looks much more textured and interesting than when we saw the introduction last spring at SWCC.
i had commented to people that the environment felt flat and bland and without detail.
looks like they weren't done with it yet!

we're off to an intriguing start.
    DON'T YOU AGREE?

    I would agree.

Blurgg: Gigantic land piranhas lol. Genuine star wars though.

IG -11? Oh myyyyyy. IG - 11 is a beast. Dope ass droid. To see a live action IG unit do it's thing for the first time was mezmorizing.

It was a great season opener. It made me wan't more as it has very effectively amplified my cravings for the next episode and totally satisfied me at the same time.

That carbon freeze! What's better to a star wars fan than to lay in there bed at 4 o'clock in the morning and watch someone getting carbon frozen in brand new live action star wars? Beautiful!

The score is great with a composer who is unafraid to to bring originality to star wars which is what star wars is in desperate need of.

The ending. Oh boy. The ending. I'll hold off on that one for now.

I loved it. From all the Star Wars released since 2014, this is the most similiar to the OT

This team must have had so much fun populating this world. The level of immersion (easter eggs) that you see in every frame is a real treat for fans and casual viewers. Narratively, it reminds me a lot of the old western TV shows like Gunsmoke that I watched as a child. Visually, it is remarkable and on par with Game of Thrones. I really like the new direction they are taking the music since it culturally places the Mandalorians in a different tone and theme from that of the Skywalker Saga themes.

The humor feels like Guardians of the Galaxy or Thor. There is a dryness and professionally menacing air to our central character but many of the people he encounters are very goofy. They help keep him from feeling too one-note where our protagonist is the "straight man" to their zany qualities.

Like most Filoni TV shows, the pacing feels a bit quick, but maybe that was just to get through the set-up to the actual story.
I am very interested to see what they do with the Yoda baby. Nick Nolte's character mentioned a sacred connection but also a return to peace once this mission was completed.

I am also interested to see which of our characters from this episode are recurring characters. Some feel like they are logical candidates for a return and others seem to have had their story concluded early.

Had no intention of watching it when I did, woke up at around 3:30am, tossed and turned for about half an hour but then said "eh why not", hopped on my computer, bought a subscription and started watching. I voted for " it's interesting, lets's where it goes", my reaction is probably more positive than that, but it's premature to say I loved it. What I can say I did love was the music and the ending was a genuine jaw dropping shock for me.

FRIGGING YODA SPECIES BABY!? Alright, Favreau & Dave, now you have my complete attention.

Blurggs are what we DESERVE! :D

The pacing is completely OT, which is great, but I wonder if it would work for younger generations. The ending music is spectacular, I have to re-watch the episode to catch the rest of it.

"It's interesting, let's see where it goes" is my verdict, but it's promising. I like that they seem to be taking their time. For the first episode - works for me.

I voted for interesting...the first scene was pretty violent (at least by implication) and that's not my cup of tea at all, but the episode got better. But wow, the buildup was a long time coming. I'm giving it a pass since it's the very first episode, but I hope we don't have as much setup with each one.

    Yes, blurggs are silly.

I thought IG-88 was silly too, but it's good to see that his little brother IG-11 is was a badass.

That first bounty--I hated his boring voice. He sounded like the guy next door instead of an alien species.

I thought the Easter eggs were fun if a but much at times, but lots of Easter eggs are okay as long as they're not intrusive to the main story.

Music was...interesting. A very odd mix, though it seemed fitting. I loved the camera angles and shots. I found myself looking forward more to how the next shot was going to be framed than what was actually going to happen. :p

So is the big GFFA spoiler the Yoda species baby? I'm confused. How is that a spoiler for anything?

Excellent pilot episode. Almost everything was perfect, except maybe the score (not a huge fan of it). The Yoda baby was a nice surprise. Let's see where it goes but it definitely looks promising.

Favreau is definitely a more focused story-teller than Johnson or Abrams. Also just better. Not quite Rogue One, IMO, but very promising.

I wasn't exactly floored by the ending.
Killing the robot seemed more brutal than Mando's earlier characterization, while his reaction to the baby whatever-Yoda-is struck me as too tender for a bounty hunter. I guess the "foundling" backstory is enough to get there, though. And at least Favreau set the table in advance, unlike the clumsy handling of the Rey/Leia hug and Leia's mastery of the force. If we can just get through a whole series without a glaring non-sequitur or a pointless Easter egg, that would be an enormous improvement.

    Thank you Jon Favreau!

I voted for interesting. It really started well and the story seems promising and intriguing.

I only didnt like the rodeo part it seemed like 5 wasted minutes.

Looking forward to the next episode...

Also, we need to know about the great purge of Mandalore/Mandalorians. This must have happened post-Rebels sans the ending of the final episode, which is why Mandalore didn't participate in the galactic war.

The force is with Favreau and Filoni. I enjoyed it immensely. Triple F should be the future of Star Wars. Favreau, Filoni and Feige with closer contact with Lucas should be the future for the brand.

Hardly the case. Favreau is telling long form story of one person over the course of many hours. JJ and Rian had 2 hours to tell the stories of 7 main protagonists. It's not the same at all. If you compare Brick/Looper/Super 8 to Iron Man 2, Favreau looks scatterbrained to the extreme. Different mediums. Different jobs. Different goals.

That out of the way, it's very good. Unsure how I feel about the ending. Knew 11 wouldn't be around long given it was Taika (a busy man).
Not sure I want the mystery of Yoda revealed. I hope it isn't.

The music is FANTASTIC! This is probably my favorite Star Wars music that isn't John Williams. If he keeps this up they should have him score the films from now on.
