OK, after Babyoda gets kidnapped (!!!!!) and Kuill bites the dust (!!!) along with all the blurrgs (RIP Bessie, Clover, and Buttercup!)...how am I supposed to cope with both this and whatever emotional wallop TRoS is going to hand me tomorrow? I am having trouble forming coherent thoughts!

Also, will Force healing come to play in TRoS?!?!?

I guess IG-11 is going to come to the rescue in some way, thereby overcoming (at least partly) Mando's droid hatred...?

Anyway, it was very interesting that there is apparently an Imperial genetic and/or clone program ongoing that Kuiil mentions. Note his Ugnaught pickup line: "This one, on the other hand, looks like she was formed in the Cytocaves of Nora." (Gets 'em every time.)

Cara on Babyoda: "You need someone to take care of that thing."
The rest of us: THAT'S WHAT WE'VE ALL BEEN SAYING FOR THREE EPISODES NOW!
Seriously though, I kind of hope Babyoda will learn to take a more active role next season in his own protection. We shall see. 'Course, first we have to get him out of this sticky situation.

But I have to say, the look on Babyoda's face here actually kind of scares me...

    Baby yoda chokes.gif

Did anyone else totally crack up at this?
The Client: "I would like to see the baby."
    Greef: "Uh, it is asleep."
The Client: "We all will be quiet."
Because you wouldn't want to wake the baby up before you kill it.

Kuill May be a long lived species. I think he was around for the clone wars. He said he worked three human lifetimes to work off the debt of his clan. I also think Kamino wasn’t the only place Clones we’re being made. Force awakens had Vader making hundreds of Clones (Yes I know it may not be Cannon). Also, after the rebellion on Kamino (found it on YouTube and I know what your going to say. Yes it’s sloppy research but it is what it is) I would think that the empire would continue similar, if be it smaller, experiments to see about making their own super soldier. Kuill May have worked on site or been apart of something close to it... Maybe...
I could also be horribly wrong and excommunicated from my clan. Who knows? Great episode though. Definitely my favorite so far.

Yes, I think Kuiil's people are long lived. He worked the three human lifetimes, plus he's been "retired" for a while, and who knows how old he was when he was sold into the servitude to begin with. Kamino may have been the official original lab but clearly there were other places where the nitty-gritty work was done, based on what Kuiil said.

Of course, now we can't get any more info out of Kuiil. :(

True but, it was a quick clip. He might move at the beginning of the next episode... seriously injured and ready to tell his life story! Right?
To be honest I would be really disappointed if they did that. I hate to say it but I love the George R.R. Martin style of killing of beloved characters. It’s sad that he’s gone but it keeps you on your toes and worried that the person your rooting for might not make it through the given situation.

I noticed on second viewing that Kuiil's body was smoking from the blaster shot. He might come back, but it's doubtful, and you're right that his death would raise the stakes for us as we root for the others to survive.

What an episode! I was one of those who were worried a bit about the main story not moving forward but Chapter 7 surely delivered!
Moff Gideon, the deathtroopers, the TIE landing just blew me away.
Love how Mando assembled the team together but I hope Kuill isn't gone forever :( Such a wise and rich character. Hopefully IG will revenge him and save the day. A bit sad to see Werner Herzog's character gone; thought he's fantastic.
The Kid using the force choke was amazing if a bit chilling. We also finally get to see his force healing abilities. Love it.

I suspected they'd end Season 1 with a cliffhanger where Mando loses the baby but I'm glad there will be more to come in the finale! When does Chapter 8 come out? Friday after Christmas?

    yes it does

a couple of other Yodaling treats for me was his head bobbing upside down whilst Mando and Cara were talking in the Razorcrest, then seeing him full wobble on the controls and then when he goes to heal Greef and he screams 'he's trying to kill me' lol

That was a great episode. It was a little predictable with him rounding up all his allies but there is nothing wrong with that. Deborah Chow knocked it out of the park again. Obi Wan is definitely in good hands. “Baby Yoda” force choking Cara to protect Mando was fantastic. Seeing him heal Greef was great as well. He definitely is more advanced then he looks. I think he will end up playing a big part in the finale. I also expect IG-11 is going to come help in the finale. The finale is shaping up to be huge. I can’t wait

The folding is cool, but I can't say is it normal or not. It make sense to fold the wings because you can store more of them under the deck. Star destroyers carry a lot of those, they don't have enough space otherwise they will carry even more.

The beginning was poor. I am not into Cara's character yet (still think she is only made to show her fight skills). Little poor interpretation although I like her backstory.
But after Kuill (probably the best character of the show) all changes.
The second part of the episode is pure joy and tension and without a doubt has the most shoking moment of the show and the biggest cliffhanger final shot.

    Come on!!!! Kuill??

I have loved biker scouts and speeder bikes since one of my very first (vintage) action figures (still have it with the box...) Seeing them in here (like nothing to do at the beginning lol) was pure joy. That Tie Fighter? My Lord...

And yes, I also think IG would save the day. BUT also think, in a tiny possibility, IG is the responsable of Kuill's fall.
Maybe the rest of Mandalorian will save the day again.

By the way, I can understand why he didn't pick up his rifle, but I want Mando's rifle back!

Really enjoyed this episode. Probably my favorite of the season. I liked the change up of the theme, very ominous, and the same change with the outro. The sad guitar very Western-feeling. Loved it. Great to see all of the character connections being pulled closer to Mando. Wept for Kuiil, did not expect that. But since we saw baby Yoda finally heal - maybe he will heal Kuiil? Maybe. Maybe he will try and be unable, learning that not everything can be fixed. Maybe baby Yoda tears? Really like Cara Dune, hope she stays this time. Same with IG-11 and even Greef. Would make a great team.

Notice that baby Yoda's egg-pod was upgraded to shiny metal to match Mando's armor in appearance?

Well, I have much on my mind, so if anyone is suffering from insomnia (or simply in need of a nap), here are my brief thoughts on all of the story chapters thus far:

Chapter 1 is of course the impetus of the narrative. We meet Mando who "can bring you in warm, or bring you in cold" he is indifferent to life and death. Both are the same as long as he gets paid. He is self-serving. We see in the forging process the flashbacks of his youth - the past that forged the man that is, his ingenuine armor a reflection of his disconnection with the world around him. The baby Yoda is found, also in a small egg-pod shell of protection, similarily disconnected from the world around him. They reach for one another, forming a connection of sameness which will grow dependantly along the movement of the narrative.

Chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 all dealt with the character rebuilding of Mando, the narrative theme being established in chapter 2 in which the Razorcrest was rebuilt out of necessity, and Mando's armor lost its integrity and necessitated the rebuilding process. That followed into chapter 3 in which Mando stated "I must begin again" and we see a second forging process begins which will run the narrative of character development through chapters 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Chapter 3 is the foundation laid for the direction of character change and growth. The character commits "the sin" of turning the baby over to the Client. But a connection has been formed and the "old" ways of being out for himself are put to the test. Mando repents of the sin and in so breaks away from the old self, setting a course toward a new direction of character. His old world turns against him for his change and with help from others of his company, he escapes the past and move forward in his narrative growth.

Chapter 4 is the cost to be made in the face of his change. Arriving at "sanctuary" he is approached by others in need. He is still struggling with his old ways, and he turns away those in need. But this changes when he realizes they can offer him a hiding place "in the middle of nowhere". It's a selfish reason, but upon arriving, he meets someone who tries to connect with him in a time of need. He sees the same connection in the children of the village and their families that is in he and the baby Yoda. His new character then again rises to the occasion, and he determines to help others, even reaching out to Cara Dune for assistance as his connective growth begins to expand. However, he cannot remain, and sanctuary must be sacrificed as consequences for him to continue moving forward in narrative development. He has yet to be tested by his former self to determine if his change of character will regress, or be tried and found true.

Chapter 5 is the character transitioning from the out of the old and into the new. The theme in the chapter is to show something old and familiar (such as the cantina, the Tusken Raiders) but then to show that the old and familiar has become something new and different. The cantina which once didn't allow droids is now staffed by droids. The Tusken Raiders which we once knew as savage and hostile are now shown as intelligent and negotiable. Mando is becoming new in character through his newfound fatherhood. This is why he is paired with the young bounty hunter - this is his former self "the old". The young hunter seems trustworthy but he is not. He is selfish and disconnected. He kills without remorse in the name of advancing himself. This "old self" endangers the baby Yoda, and is eliminated by Mando. He is not that character any longer.

Chapter 6 is the testing of the new man. Mando's past re-emerges into his current life, and we learn more of the old mando whom we first met in chapter 1. Though Mando insists he has changed, his past insists "I know what you are" and his new character is put to the test. When faced with killing an innocent, Mando will not comply. He threatens his past as his past threatens back. Rescuing the prisoner, his past attempts to imprison him and leave him to die. But he does escape, and slowly overcomes each antagonist, facing down the demons that haunt him and locking them away. But he doesn't kill them - "they got what they deserved"

In one final table-turning on his past, Mando sends a trio of gunships to severe his ties with it for good. His narrative growth being put to the test, he emerges tried and true. He can now newly face the future.

Chapter 7 shows us the Mando now bringing connections into his story. He has grown beyond the isolation of the past. The two "children" are also in comparison and contrast. That is the baby Yoda the "child" of Mando, and IG-11 the "child" of Kuiil. In this chapter we see baby Yoda has a new egg-pod forged after his first was discarded. This one is shiny like Mando's new armor and shows his character growth following in Mando's pattern. Over the course of the character development episodes, not only has Mando been changing and this change being put to the test, but baby Yoda has been learning from Mando. In chapter 6 we see him disappearing from a doorway and cat-and-mousing the droid in a very "little Mando" way.

In this chapter we see that baby Yoda has been "imprinting" on Mando, just as the character of Kuiil describes as occurring with his "raising" of IG-11. The "child" IG is said to become a reflection of his makers. This parallels Mando as the "maker" of baby Yoda - not as a biological father, but as a father by care. The baby initially wished to heal Mando back in chapter 2, an injury on the arm, which Mando (the "old" Mando in need of rebuilding) denied him to do.
But over the course of Mando's narrative growth, baby Yoda is also learning from him some of the "old" ways - he has seen Mando kill and has learned this manner of protection from his father. So when baby Yoda sees the armwrestling, he reflects what he has been taught by Mando - and he uses the force to attempt to kill the one who views as a threat to mando (even though he is misunderstanding the situation).

Both Mando and the baby Yoda are growing in a mutually dependant manner - both teachers of one another, both learners of one another. But baby Yoda is again given the opportunity to heal, and this time he is not forbidden. He heals the wound and the poison, just as he has also helped "heal" the "wound and poison" of the "old" Mando. That wound which originally forged him the first time (the flashbacks of the first forging in chapter 1) but with connection and a willing hand through the baby Yoda, caused a re-building, a reforging - so that Mando could move beyond the past which forged him to become someone not held captive by it.

There is much more to digest in this season but these are the basic thoughts I gathered after watching the season so far. Looking forward to the final chapter of the season and the appearance of the Slave 1 in the final shot. You heard me! I hear mechanical breath, I conclude Darth Vader. I hear jangling spurs and frequency noise, I conclude Boba Fett.

Something else I realized watching a second time:

The "old" crew of chapter 6 provides for a nice contrast to the "new" crew of chapter 7.

An interesting parallel is brought up by Mando when he holds his grudge against IG-11, stating that he doesn't trust the droid to be any different than when they first met. "You can change the wiring but you can't change the nature - the droid is programmed to kill." (something like that) But Mando's own growth challenges that statement. Mando has been rewired, as it were, and his nature did change. Perhaps his grudge of old is clouding his understanding of the nature of things, and that the past is not such an inescapable prison even for droids. Perhaps he may find the two are not as different as he may think.

Exactly. IG-11 was once a killer. But now, Kuiil said, he can be programmed to protect instead. Sound like anyone we know?

First - The Mandalorian might be the greatest thing happening in Star Wars Universe for Years, i want to see more stories from this universe, with all the alien species, planets, technology and references from the star wars movies without any extra attachments, just pure star wars fun.

Second - I believe the final of The Mandalorian should came with the death of Moff Gideon and Mando in a sundown showdown, much in Classic Western Style, and it would be nice if we never knew Mando face or real name (kinda Eastwood Style).

Third - Now Disney STOP milking Mandalorian cow and move along to tell us another cool story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps this is setting an alternative ending were the BabyYoda kills everybody.

A powerful episode. The Force, the action, hope, betrayal, redemption, comedy, surprise and finally loss. I did not think that Episode 3 for me would be topped, but it has been.
    “The Blurrgs?”
    “I have spoken.”
    Good stuff.

My thinking is; BabyY's force powers far overshadow his other skills. His social skills are in baby and child stage and his first 50 years and rest of life are spent in learning to control, to be able to judge the happenings around himself. Watching Mando and Cara arm wrestle, he doesn't see and understand, or analyze the emotional content of Mando's and Cara's mind, he sees the physical and reacts. When lucky, I'd think the Yada species has parental presence to teach their young both the emotional and physical control they need to survive in a world that doesn't understand or even know that Force power exists and fears it when they meet it.
