I wonder how many "causal" fans understand what they just watched...

I absolutely don't get the vibe of this show.

    Unfortunately.

Good thing is they don't really have to understand what it means. They see a cool saber and want to learn more about what it means. Pretty much perfect scenario.

I'm excited for season 2, maybe we will get more with Tatooine assuming that's a Gamorrean. Or maybe the home planet of that species, Gamorr?

I love Tatooine but would prefer seeing more of the other worlds so Gamorr would be very cool!

I didn't notice this while watching the episode, but the Mandalorian who saved our Mando as a kid had the emblem of clan Vizla on their armor. It seems Mando was saved by Death Watch.

So THEIR way is THE way? Hmm, some thoughtful thought food for my thoughts.

It's been so long since I've watched Clone Wars, maybe I should rewatch it and then give The Mandalorian a rewatch as well, and see if my perspective changes on the show..

Pre Vizla had no problem showing his face. I think these are, sort of, post-Purge Mandalorians. When in crisis, people tend to turn back to "good ol' ways". It certainly helps them to keep their identity. At the end of Rebels, Sabine was still helmet-less. I wonder if these Mandos would even recognize her as such.

For this particular story, you would be better served to watch Rebels I think.

How did everyone feel about the death of IG-11? I thought he died like a hero, and went from a random droid to a favorite character of mine. He reminds me of K-2SO, just he was used as comic relief less.

It's been years since I've watched CW, I don't remember much, but I perfectly understood what was happening. Are you talking about the obscure references to the Mandalorian culture, or perhaps the Darksaber?

But didn’t Dyn Dyn (that’s what I’m calling him now;)) say he’d been doing this since he was a kid? Not much older than the littles there on planet Amish? Not a recent development for him anyhow.

Yes, I think these Mandos that are so devoted to foundlings and permanent helmets and "the Way" are a splinter group from the mainstream Mandalore culture that we saw in the cartoons. Now, post-Great Purge, they've probably doubled down on "the creed" for survival's sake.

According to my mother in law who’s 73, it reminds her of the old Flash Gordon tv show. But it’s mixed with 80s serials like A-Team or the like, but modern and very Star Wars, Western, Samurai.

    I freaking love it!

I doubt she understood the significance of the darksaber.

Best platonic man/woman friendship in all of Star Wars.

It felt like The Hidden Fortress (despite me never having watched the movie...I really should unwrap it sometime), and I STORMING LOVED IT.

That's fair! Moff Gideon might be the best Star Wars villain in the Disney era so far.

It...hasn't aged well with me either. The Mandalorian plot in the later seasons was just...tiring...

Oh...OH...OH NO OH YES OH NO OH YES.

Actually she didn’t see the finale yet.

But it’s funny because she’s the one who kept an original Boba Fett figure from Empire in perfect condition and gave it to me as a wedding gift.

She was totally into the original Star Wars and My wife and I update her on new story developments. Haha
