2nd Episode of Mando just debuted, what are your thoughts??

A bit of world-building takes place in this adventure. We get a little morsel of where things sit with the New Republic. And would someone please give the Child a buffet to fill up on, kid is a bottomless pit!

As @Embo and His Pet Anooba mentioned elsewhere we were introduced to a couple new species that could become some instant fan favorites. Anyone know what Dr. Mandibles and Frog Lady are called, or if have they appeared anywhere else in legends or canon?

Also, The Bendu is a big fat liar. They are definitely not more afraid of you, than you are of them!

    Spoilers Alert!

Just watched the episode. Totally unexpected twist ( I expected it to be unexpected huh ). I need more time to think about it.
At least we know how they cook Krayt Dragon on Tatooine ;) ... difficult recipe ... you need a jet engine, a thredwell droid and a pit droid for that ;) Epic!

Unfortunately, I found it to be a pretty mediocre episode.

It was cool seeing those spiders from Rebels (and they might have been in Jedi: Fallen Order too?) again though. Also seeing Trapper Wolf again was nice; the conversation between the X-Wing pilots and Mando before the chase and crash landing was the highlight of the episode for me.

Is it just me or was Mando more talkative this episode? Even The Child was more expressive and I could’ve sworn that shot of him eating the spider was CGI instead of the usual puppet.

It'd be pretty complicated to move eight legs independently of each other with a puppet, makes more sense for the alien species to be CGI. That said, I'm not sure if the one he ate was actually CGI. Looked pretty real to me, otherwise we'd have an Anakin fake pear situation.

I was enjoying the episode up until the giant Ice Spider showed up .

Loved the 2 new alien species & the use to f the droid from the prison break episode as a translator was a neat touch.

Also is Mando actually feeding the child because he seems to be constantly search for new thing to eat.

Oh & never borrow / steal a Mandalorian Jet Pack

I’m a sucker for snowy scenes so I loved it. Mrs Frog-lady was hilarious. The spiders were done brilliantly, another lovely thing hardcore fans will ‘get’/recognise, but that casuals can enjoy just as easily.

I really liked how they seeded a bit more background for what’s going on elsewhere, with the X-Wing pilots and the uneasy ‘truce’ they gave Mando.

The Child has really gotta stop eating things it shouldn’t! Not sure why Mrs Frog-lady left her spawn in the back of the ship though, seemed a bit reckless! Her wander off for a bath was also kind of idiotic. I loved the bit where she started hop/running though.

    Also I want some steak.

Has to be 4 stars for me, 8'5/10.
I know am weird. But, I don't know, even being a filler episode, I think I liked this second chapter more than the first one.

Maybe it's the better cinematography, maybe knowing the Republic is trying to make things right for everyone, maybe the tension that the simple events have created, maybe the ships chase, the new species or the baby eating all through the episode, maybe the Razor Crest being another character again, the very western from the beggining, the multiple easter eggs again (like treadwell for cooking) or the world building generated.

Now, am really excited and ready for next chapter cause the events for sure will take other directions.

Yeah kind of talkative monologue since the lady did not talk much and he does not understand frog language.

I am not sure about that part with the CGI, the spider looked pretty much real puppet to me. Also that part when baby Yoda was running from the spiders was looking pretty much real. The rest of the spiders and the big mama spider were CGI of course.

I few thoughts about the X-wings - the worst thing to try is to hide from x-wings in the clouds. This has no way to work, they have one of the best sensor suites among all star fighters, that's why the long nose. You have no chance hiding from them or trying to run away from them. It kind of made the episode more interesting but is completely unrealistic.

Seeing the Crest flying backwards during the crash landing was also funny :D. Who is going to crash land his ship trying to escape from a pair of x-wings? ( Han Solo is the correct answer ). This scene was a 100% steal from the original trilogy. The cave, the hiding and the monster - sounds familiar?

Baby Yoda has a monstrous appetite for frogs! Time to change the plot or we are going to be completely disgusted!

Is there anything else in this episode? Ah yes the 4 gangsters ... never steal a mandalorian jetpack, those things are 100% volatile! :D

Does somebody recognize the small guy with the metal face? The other 3 are cyborg human, human with helmet and Nikto.

I enjoyed it a lot, it felt like an episode of Rebels put into live action.

Babyoda eating the eggs was hilarious, especially the one at the end.

Frog lady was pretty interesting and I like how the show continues to give these side characters some depth and a little story of their own. Oh and I love that she semi-repaired the Richard Ayoade droid, it was great to hear his voice again.

Anyways, I'm off to cook some steaks.

Solid episode. This is why I love the TV series format. This is just 40+ minutes to get lost in the universe. Nothing game changing in this episode so some will probably complain, but no show can keep up the level of the last episode. Nice to see another new planet.

I liked this one better than the first--probably because there are more interactions between Mando and Babyoda. Yes, those AWWWWWWs you heard when Babyoda ran to Daddy with uppy arms, and then when he snuggled in for a nap...they were me. ;) There was also a small one when I saw Baby has a hammock in with Daddy...who really does sleep with all his armor on in a tiny airless closet. Oy.

I can't tell you how many times I yelled at Mando though for doing inexperienced parent things. Like WHY are you not watching your baby? Take that egg out of his hand before he eats i-- Too late, pal. That snow is going to melt on his feet and give him frostbite. Look, you need a nanny, OK?

There was a Moroff in the cantina... Dr. Mandibles! Of course that was his name, duh.

Where is Mando getting all this money? I thought he was broke.

Why is the Crest so clean? Sand gets everywhere. :p

For a mama so concerned about her eggs...wasn't Mrs. Frog keeping count???

Anyway, I wonder what else the New Republic is coping with that has Trapper Wolf and Carter (that's what the subtitles call him) saying these are tough times? I want to know!!

This episode wasn't as "big" as ch. 9, but I enjoyed the smallness.

Spot on, this is why this show is a dream come true for me as I always loved the mystery and weirdness of the universe and I love seeing what Hunters, criminals and the like get up to as they go about their lives and do their jobs, it's got so much intrigue and possibilities.

It's one of the main reasons I love R1 & Solo so much.

I've decided this show is about eggs. If there are no eggs or egg imagery, then that's what I'll consider a "filler" episode. :D

And one more thing re-winding the scene with the fight, I saw this reflection. This obviously is a reflection from the filming set, which they missed to clean-up.

I think is similar with one character from TFA. I haven't revisited it for a while so I don't remember if he is from Jakku's market or Maz's Castle.
First I thought he was like Teedo.
Or maybe is from prequels. Don't remember right now XD

So Mando says "May the Force be with you" to the X-wing pilots, presumably to get them to shut up and go away. So he knows the expression... Is it possible that he doesn't know the meaning of "the Force," as in, he doesn't connect it with the Jedi and Babyoda's abilities?

Absolutely I think he using it more as a friendly greeting also I’m sure Peli says Thank the Force or something similar when she sees The Child again in Chapter 9
I would be surprised if he knows of the connection between The Force & Jedi.

    Running commentary while watching.
--Great opening. Mando is challenged and solves the problem with ingenuity. Great!
--Oh, by the Whills I love Peli Motto!
    --Sublight space travel? Oki?
--"Frog Lady" is actually a Gekko Lady, but yes; awesome stuff :D
--Baby did THAT! Bad boy!
    --Fantastic reuse of the murder-bot!
--Oh my gods! Baby did THAT even!
    --Kryknas! :)
--Very cool to see the New Republic at work. Kinda douchy they didn't help out a little bit with the repairs, but yeah, they did clear the critters and let Mando off the hook, which was big of them, I guess
    --Another one!?!?! BAAAAD Boy!

This episode was an awesome exploration of the SW universe. Lots of show-don't-tell exposition & storytelling. No easy fixes to any problems, just a whole lot of work and inginuity. I loved this episode for all the great world-building, character moments, smarts, and team-work. Might very well be one of my favorite episodes of the show :D
