THE MANDALORIAN S2E2 (CH. 10)

Have we discussed the changes in the mandalorian armor? I am sure you noticed that Mando changed his armor again for season 2, there are 2 new pieces, one seems to be from his old armor the one before the beskar upgrades.

The right leg cuisse and the left leg knee-cop , which is the same as before the beskar. For comparison the previous armor pieces here:

 

Mando's right cuisse got completely blown off in chapter 8 when Moff Gideon blew up the E-Web charger. The Armorer didn't give him a new one, so you have to wonder where he got the one he has in season 2, and if it could possibly be beskar.

 

This is a bit blurry for me, I guess he could take one piece after he downed the TIE, I mean they were just on that tray in the sewer or maybe he had some spare armor pieces in the Crest, in this case of course it is not from beskar but most probably from durasteel. Well durasteel is not so bad, I mean it's durable and will protect him, maybe not as good as beskar but enough.

BTW I think the previous cuisse, the one from the beskar armor period in season 1 was also not from the armorer, because it has this brown paint on half of it, so I guess it is another old armor piece.

One more thing to mention, the new knee-cop is actually very similar to the knee-cop from Boba Fett armor, picture here with Jango and Boba's armors. Of course the left knee-cop may or may not have the hidden dart guns or better say micro rocket launchers in it, but the design and the side tubes look exactly the same as Boba's. The only difference is that it is not yellow.

This is my sentiment about the show too. Had they advertised it that it was going to be a serial series, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Nothing is wrong with serial but either go one way or the other. It feels like the series is still trying to find its identity.

 

Agreed. It's trying to have it's cake and eat it too.
I'd even just feel better if there were more of a "moral of the story" with it each side episode so they didn't feel like complete fluff.

And I suppose I'm only this critical of it because I see the potential in it to be so much more.

I'm glad some others share the sentiment. I felt well...like a Pernicious Jawa...for not loving this series. I'm just going to echo what has already been said, that I don't think it can quite agree if it wants to be a serial or have an overrarching plot, as we come to expect from modern day television.

For me, everything feels like a shallow fetch quest. Someone has info that Mando wants, he has to do something for them. In the course of that quest, we meet a one-off character/location/monster and it's never seen again. I think it makes the show lack charcater development, or urgency. I'm not really invested in any of the characters. I want us to have a look at post ROTJ society, or the intricacies of the bounty hunter guild/criminal underworld.

In this episode, the nod to the McQuarrie spider was cool, I know with Filoni and Jon, they'll be inspired straight from and honour the source material. It was insightful to see the New Republic actually functioning as a government in a sector, I just want more. Some of the cinematography was amazing as well.

My bet is the egg holder will somehow be destroyed, and Baby Yoda will yak up the remaining eggs - keeping the frog woman bloodline alive and well

I missed this post the first time around somehow, but I appreciate the full and true irony of deflecting a discussion on the actual story content of The Mandalorian with how beautiful the show is.

(and fwiw, you can't really go too deep into talking about aspects of a show/film as long as those arguments are in good faith)

With all my respect dear Sir, we have already discussed the first two episodes and even we have voted for it. You can see the results they say it clear enough. They are not my favorite, neither I really like the plot and storytelling. Yet, I think there is nothing we can do about it. Just sit comfortably, relax and wait for Friday to watch the next episode. There is no way to change it. And I really think there will be at least 2 or maybe 3 good episodes showing Mando fighting the empire remnant.

Now if you really want to know my opinion about the show - it is a clever mixture of easy to digest content for the mass viewer and some lore elements for the hard fan base. They try to give everyone something to love. But they need more people to watch it, because Disney makes money from subscriptions. So all in all, expect some good action, mixed with some star wars stories and not too deep because if it goes too deep it will probably repel the mass viewer. So please don't take it personal but 5 pages in the forum discussing that the plot is too shallow and the stories seems to be just a side note and not on the main plot etc. I think are enough. We all understood that. We can't do anything about it, the season is already shot, what remains is just to watch it.

I have no idea. I am running Linux and Firefox in a very restricted mode to prevent tracking. There is really no problem to pause and take a screenshot with an app called Screenshot which comes with the Linux distro. I am not doing anything special.

well you are indeed doing something special because every other attempt at screenshotting a movie directly off the D+ App generates a black screen. Including on the iPhone. congratulations

So we can't discuss it? No offense, but that's really weak.
It's not just about these two episodes but a running trend stemming from last season that a group of us have taken issue with.
Notice how now of us have even called the show bad or hailed the firing of Favreau, Filoni or Kennedy over it.
It's a fair point of contention for liking or disliking the show and we shouldn't just be allowed to because the episode aired.

But hey, post pretty pictures and tell people what they can/can't discuss about the show

Another problem is the long term acting relationship between a character with a helmet and a silent puppet ... Even as cute as it is.

For me, it's a theme park or like going out with a girl because she's pretty and that's it.
