Introductions are mostly gone. Now they're getting down to the real Nitty Gritty. The Episode was great. Lots of actions because finally we get to see and hear Light Sabers. meet Ahsoka and, best of all; The kid/The Child/BabyYoda has a real name. What I heard was Gro'Gu, possibly Gro Goo although Star Wars tends to accent names with 's. Another spelling: Gro'Ghu. Or, GroGhu. Well done, Favreau and Filoni and crew. Thank you.

I loved this episode. After one viewing I think it might be my favourite so far.

Ahsoka was just spot-on for me, the look, the movements, the mannerisms, the head tilts, the facial expressions... so good. It felt like real effort had been put in by everyone concerned to make it feel like Ahsoka, and for me it totally worked. I found it kind of emotional honestly, and I’m so ready to do another TCW/Rebels re-watch soon, lol (well done Disney!)

But beyond that, I loved the whole vibe, the atmosphere of the planet, the classic Samurai movie plot/tropes, the slow scenes punctuated by the crazy good action... And perhaps for some obvious reasons, it felt a lot like a great live-action episode (or two-parter given the duration I guess) of The Clone Wars to me, and I mean that as a total compliment.

GROGU! The child has a name!

As soon as Ahsoka tried to get him to move the rock, I knew what was coming with the ball from the ship... heheh. Amazing to learn his name, and the way he and Ahsoka sat together forming a connection was beautiful. Yoda name-checked! Anakin/Vader referred to non-specifically...! And then of course the big name-drop of Thrawn at the end of the fight between Ahsoka and Elsbeth, which makes total sense but was still just so cool to hear.

    Loved it.

spear lady looks like these people and ahsoka says that her people were massacred, which happened to these people

First off, the leaks were absolutely spot on and I am glad they were. Grogu, Thrawn, The Magistrate, Mando & Ahsoka being at odds at first...It's true, all of it.

Rosario Dawson is amazing IMO, her action scenes were straight out of Clone Wars & Rebels, they nailed Ahsoka's fighting style and mannerisms. I loved the Samurai-esque duel, it was like a homage to a Kurosawa movie.

While at first I found it very jarring hearing and seeing Ahsoka in live action, Rosario's performance quickly made me feel like I was with an old friend - which is the biggest compliment I can give.

I need to rewatch and take some time process this episode.

    This is the way.

Such a good episode. It had a really great vibe from the start-Ahsoka disappearing into the mist in amongst the trees at the start was so cool and her reveal was awesome. Dave Filoni really directed the episode well.

Our girl looked on point too. The outfit, Rosario Dawson acting and voice and overall look were good. The lekku were shorter than I expected though, which was odd.

Man, I wonder who the Jedi who got Grogu out of the temple was and who they'll be looking for to train him?
I've heard people hoping for Ezra but I'd rather it wasn't him.
Then again, if Ahsoka is looking for Thrawn(!!) then it makes sense of Ezra is involved.

Overall, this show just gets better and better!

Here a few thoughts from my side.

The planet was supposed to be forest, but it looked devastated, threes had no leafs, like after some global cataclysm. I noticed on the opening scene some smoking chimneys, so maybe they harvest something on that planet. My guess is that the Spear Lady ( played by Diana Lee Inosanto ) happened to that planet and the state of the forest resemble the state of the people living there.

Ahsoka was cool to see, Rosario Dawson played good. We have to be fair, it's not easy to play an anime character in a live action movie, the exaggeration of the character you normally get with anime is difficult to recreate in live action. I will always remember the young Ahsoka, playful, a little bit mischievous, and very acrobatic, and very creative. I miss the creativity of anime Ahsoka here. We got some aerobatics here as well. Ahsoka was very serious, a bit too much for "I am no Jedi" character, but probably she has grown and experience has its weight on her.

The fighting scenes were joy to watch, I felt like in the Clone Wars. Her fighting style changed a bit, her lightsabers were stunning - I thought they will be beautiful, but that was spectacular.

The fight with the Spear Lady was well done. I enjoyed it. If she is not force sensitive, Ahsoka could defiet her easily, remember the way Darth Vader was dealing with rebel troopers?

That makes now so much sense, there are other materials which can repel blasters, but there are just a few which can stand up to a lightsaber, what we saw was not "resist to lightsaber to some amount", we have seen a material which renders the lightsaber useless. That fully justify the efforts, the cost and the secrecy in obtaining and making beskar steel.

The scenes with the guards and with the droids were mostly well done. I would expect more interesting fight with the droids, they should be highly skilled warriors. It was a bit of waste to see them get cut so easily. ( don't get me wrong here, I love to see them cut, I just want to have it done after a good fight! )

I love the scenes in the beginning when Ahsoka was always appearing on their 6 o'clock :)
and the scenes where she tried to interact with the child, pardon Grogu ( funny name ah :) )

Well that was a great episode.
I really liked the fact that it doesn’t hold out on the Ahsoka reveal but jumps straight into her appearance.

Loved the interaction between Din, Grogu & Ahsoka.

So Grogu has basically been hiding his true potential as a defence mechanism & Din basically took him from the guys who had been keeping him hidden from the Empire.

Also loved that Din called it a laser sword :p. & That Spear I’m sure Din will but thatto good use by the end of the season.

I think I can say that maybe, this is the best chapter so far.

Not only for the Jedi appearance. I think this chapter has it all and Filoni has shown to me seriousness and a very high competence. He has left to us some absolutely beautiful and astonishing shots.

It has a great dark/sad mood and great tempo, it's emotional, it has great chemistry between all the cast, it has action and no bad interpretations with no cheesy dialogs, it has more unexpected surprises (babyoda's name! Thrawn!!), details everywhere and a lot of worldbuilding (prequel clone wars era!). And yes, it has white supercool sabers.

-I love the dark setting of the world, the giant creatures in the back ground, the dead forests. Something original for SW.
-Exactly, is not easy to show a cartoon character in real life, specially Ashoka. Rosario and the rest of the crew did an incredible job.
-The contrast of the sabers with the dark world is so powerful. In that fortress, during action scenes, there are some gorgeous and sublime shots.
-I love all the stories surrounding Jedi, Grogu and all the misteries from that place and the post empire situation.
-And the music. What a partiture this chapter! A part from that beautiful flute, one detail has stuck to me. When Ashoka turns on her lightsabers in the last fight, the music/sound effects make an incredible noise, as a prolongation of the ingited sabers, creating an incredible tension in a speechless moment. Then the same with the beskar spear hitting the ground. Really great fight.

Can't wait to watch it again.

    Tython!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, anyone who ever played old republic video games this is a huge call back. To those who haven't. download Star Wars the old republic video game and create a jedi character. You will start as a jedi trainees at the temple at Tython. What a huge call out this is. Tython was one of the first Jedi Temples. The jedi Order basically in the game started on Tython.

This is the best episode IMO, was a little upset that Ahsoka wouldn't train baby Yoda, but I understood why, with Anakin, she is not the right master for him. Mando is going to go deep into Jedi lore here which is great.

Are we going to see Luke? I don't know how they would pull that off, but there are possibilities. Trying come up with which Jedi even might be alive is hard, is Quinlan Voss still alive?. My guess is that they create a Jedi, perhaps one from Clone wars that can travel with Mando and help train Baby Yoda. That's my opinion anyway, A Kanan type Character maybe.

Not to be a bummer but I waited a full year for Ahsoka Tano and what I felt like we got was a flat version of her. The bad ass Ahsoka from the Clone Wars and Rebels that cant fight 15 or less people? Really? On top of it the lady with the spear should not of been able to stand toe to toe with her. Like really? Ahsoka was trained by Anakin, Obi Wan, and Yoda. Then combats Darth Maul on multiple occasions. But can't easily defeat this lady and her 15 guards???

Her character felt empty of all traces of snips!! There was no girl next door playful vibe that the cannon of Rebels had kept either. Assuming this is in the same time frame as Rebel's I personally think Dawson and the writers missed the mark on a lot of details that make Ahsoka the bad ass she is supposed to be. Now I feel like she is just another flat Jedi that makes a minor appearance in the Star Wars world. I truly pray they don't try to make a full feature film with her at this point it would be more disappointment.

After a second viewing and multiple cups of coffee...

    - I have to say, I don't think they could've done a better job with Ahsoka in live action and Rosario is absolutely stellar casting, she's very close to how I imagined her being and you can tell Rosario has done her homework, she nailed it!

    - HK droids...Meatbags!

    - I'm pretty sure we got our first live action glimpse of Morai sitting on the branch?! It even had the same soundtrack cue.

    - I love that we got a great Ahsoka action sequence right off the bat, this is my favourite opening scene in Star Wars, easily. The white sabers looked absolutely gorgeous, especially against the dark and dreary environment.

    - As per the leaks; Grogu was kept and trained by Jedi on Coruscant, Ahsoka is chasing Thrawn and the Magistrate lady is a servant of Thrawn. Most of the other details were accurate too, such as Grogu's mind going dark.

    - It will be very interesting to see which Jedi we end up meeting on Tython, either Luke or Ezra most likely. It could potentially be Cal Kestis because we still have no idea what his fate is at this point, though I personally doubt he's alive.

I'm so pleased with this episode, it's one of the best so far and my joint-favourite, Dave Filoni more than delivered with this one.
