Some quick thoughts after first viewing--hopefully I'll get a rewatch in today sometime.

I wasn't sure what to think about live-action Ahsoka. First, of course, it wasn't "her" voice, which I didn't think would bother me but it did. Second, her head tails were too short. I'm sure it was something about the logistics of trying to fight with big rubber/plastic things on your head, but ngl I thought about this the entire episode. We will blame my latent OCD. BUT once Ahsoka smiled, I was like, "Oh, there she is!" and I felt like it was really her. (Just with a too-short haircut. Yes, let's move on.) She did her Clone Wars moves in the town and the dual was good because beskar spear and the magistrate was apparently trained by Thrawn so... I'm satisfied.

OK, so Grogu. Now, I can't make memes, but cue the Jim Mora "Playoffs? Playoffs??" one but with "Grogu? Grogu?" That too is OK, I'll get used to it.

I would pitch the world's biggest fit if Mando had left baby GROGU [for pete's sake, guys, what a name] with Ahsoka, but Din seemed to accept her reasons for not training him so readily. I guess he didn't really want to leave GROGU [for pete's sake] either.

So who was the Jedi who hid GROGU [for pete's sake]? What happened to them? How did our little guy get in the hands of the dudes on Arvala -7? How many groups had had him between the Temple purge and now? What all did our poor little man go through that is all "dark"? Not going to cry, but okay, I might be crying.

So anyway, I am asking for that palace for Christmas. Or at least the gardens--so gorgeous! And what a contrast to the destruction outside.

Thrawn... So I guess Ahsoka is still looking for Ezra?

Why does this man keep leaving his child alone? Someone please help him. Doesn't he know Moff Gideon is after him??? (Yes, I know he doesn't but I do and it's killing me here.) Din just called him buddy. Awwww. Beats GROGU for pete's sake.

It's worth noting about the Lekku that Rebels has an extremely exaggerated art style where everything seems to look much more "pointy" and far less rounded/realistic, even Vader looked very different. Clone Wars' style is closer to the real thing.

We've only ever seen her in animation, which doesn't look like the real thing. We're used to seeing live action characters put into animation, not the other way around.

OK, here is a summary, I liked the episode. It had a great atmosphere, the devastated planet is just tip of the iceberg of the Empires crimes. Rosario Dawson was a decent Ahsoka, look and movements was on point and maybe given some screen time, she can convince me. But, even older Ahsoka had a sense of humor and certain flair, which I felt she was lacking. Partially you can blame that on writers, partially on delivery. Ahsoka wields sarcasm as a weapon, but not this version.

GROGU! Sufficiently weird and silly, fits right into SW. And, of course, he was trained, he is 50. Can you imagine how traumatized this 'child' is, things he survived?

Excellent fights, I liked all of them, Din's standoff with Michael Biehn, Ahsoka's fight with the evil lady (her name sounded familiar, maybe she appeared somewhere, anyone remember?).

Grand Admiral Thrawn? It seems Ahsoka and Sabine failed to find him and Ezra or they had further conflicts with Trawn later on. But, YAAAY! More blueberry in the future!

And Tython? We are just binding the Star Wars galaxy together? Nice.

The plot was sufficiently moved forward. Keep watch for one Moff Gideon.

All in all, excellent episode, which will probably not see a complete fruition until season 3 but, hey, more Mando is all right with me. :)

The short Lekkus don't bother me at all and didn't even notice right away because I was focused on her overall look which was great and the scene itself. They're not too drastically short and distracting anyway unless you keep looking at them and thinking about it. It's whatever when the rest is spot on!

Gorgu will take some getting used to but it's fine.."for pete's sake"

In a world where we have Elan Sleazebaggano, Grogu is downright plain, like John Smith or something.

To put something into perspective, Giancarlo Esposito has already confirmed at least 4 seasons of this show. If each season is 8 episodes, it would be really difficult to thresh out story arcs like Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Either this show is going to go on for a REALLY long time or there are going to have to be subsequent shows creating a much larger version of Star Wars in this timeline. I think this episode all but confirms the rumors of live action TV shows such as an Ahsoka Tano show.

There's 3 episodes left and so I'm assuming the next one will be a side quest then the final two being a two parter at Typhon with Moff and Dark Troopers showing up followed by Bo and perhaps a surprise appearance by Ezra? I ain't expecting Luke but maybe Ahsoka shows up again

In the Revenge of the Sith cut scene, Anakin kills Shaak Ti. Shaak Ti is the same species as Ahsoka and her Lekku ( Toguta species call their Lekku Montrals) is much larger adult size than Ahsoka in the Mandalorian chapter 13.

I don't want to be rude, but you should know it is NOT the same time frame as Rebels. This is 5 years AFTER Return of the Jedi, and thus 8 years or more after Rebels.

Having said that, I would hope Ahsoka has grown in the years since The Clone Wars. She lived through Order 66. She lived through "the dark times" of the Empire. So I think expecting to see snips in live action is not realistic.

I will agree Spear Lady should have been easily dispatched, but you need to have a bit of drama.

Now for my own thoughts. Personally I love the call backs/tie ins to things like Tython.

I am wondering about the idea of Jedi finding Grogu, assuming he calls out as Ahsoka mentioned. I don't think they will bring in Luke. Perhaps Ezra? If Thrawn is alive and well, then that means Ezra is as well. Interesting.

Maybe not all Togruta have to be the same? Y'know, like human hair and skin.

I mean we know there different coloured Togrutas, so why not have different shape/size Lekku? It makes perfect sense.

Hmmm, if they teased Thrawn then this has to be the "Jedi" that will hear the call...
